Happy Sunday! Tomorrow is the “official” first day of Spring, and there is no snow in the forecast for this week – hooray! Here’s how I did during week 3 of training!
Monday 3/13
4 mile run. Even though it was freezing, I wanted to get a run done outside before the snowstorm hit.
Tuesday 3/14
Winter Storm Stella decided to drop some snow, sleet, ice and rain. It was not fun and shoveling was hard because the snow was heavy, so I counted that as my cardio. I also did the Core and Glute/Hip workout from my Run & 10 DVD.
Wednesday 3/15
5 treadmill miles π
Thursday 3/16
Unexpected Rest Day. I got caught up in some blog work and didn’t feel like working out when I finished.
Friday 3/17
Yoga. My foot felt a little weird earlier in the day, so I didn’t want to do anything too strenuous.
Saturday 3/18
Great 5 miles run on the treadmill. I’ve been taking Vega Energizer Pre-Workout before my runs and I’m loving it!
On Saturday afternoon I went to NYC for the WeRunSocial meet up for the NYC Half. It was great to catch up with old friends and meet new friends in person!
Sunday 3/19
Another double workout day π A strength training class followed by 60 minutes of spinning.
Total Weekly Miles – 14
Grade – B π
Week 3 was okay. I’m happy that I got all of my runs in but the snowstorm kind of messed up my flow when it came to my strength training classes. I think this week will be better weather wise so I should be get in all of my classes.
On a side note, congrats to all of the runners that completed races today (there were so many huge races this weekend)! π
How was your week? Are you training for a race? Let me know in the comments!
Iβm linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap, the Jessβs, (Jess Runs Atlanta and Jess @ The Right Fits) for their training recaps and Courtney for her Training Recap Link Up!

kookyrunner says
Thanks Sherry!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job this week! Shoveling is such a workout. We borrowed our neighbors snowblower which saved us a ton of time. Your visit to NYC looks so fun!
kookyrunner says
I wish I had a snowblower – such a smart investment, that’s for sure!!
Nicold says
I love the idea of grading your week, such a neat idea. I’m impressed with your training in the face of cold and snow!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I figured grading myself was a great way to keep myself accountable π
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Great job this week! I got in a run before the storm hit too – I’m so glad the worst is over, it was a rough few days!
I love that LOVE sweatshirt from We Run Social! It’s always fun to meet up with your fellow runners/running bloggers!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree! Hopefully we’ll geta chance to meet this year at a RockNBlog or WeRunSocial meet up!
Courtney @ eat pray run D.C. says
Happy first day of spring! I can’t believe winter is “officially” over π
kookyrunner says
LoL, someone will have to tell Mother Nature that winter is over haha
Gina says
How fun that you get to meet up with so many fun runners! And snow! Ugh! Thankfully for us it was here Monday and gone Tuesday! Great week!
kookyrunner says
I love the WeRunSocial meetups – they are so much fun!
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
Love the pizza shirt! Pizza I could live on for sure. Hope you have a great week
kookyrunner says
LOl, me too – it’s my favorite food π
Jessie says
What a fun week! Great job fitting it all in despite the bad weather…! Not an easy thing to do.
kookyrunner says
I think the weather will be much better this week- hooray!
Marcia says
I stayed off the roads and out of the gym Tuesday when we got our 10″ snow dump as well. Looks like a strong week for you! You’re slaying your training!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Marcia! I hope I’m still doing good with training once the mileage increases!
Lesley says
Do they have an abs shirt that says I like wine more? I could have abs, but I enjoy a lot of things.
I did two strength workouts yesterday, and I’m sore today. They targeted different muscle groups, but they were quite a workout together.
kookyrunner says
I actually think they do have a shirt like that! The shirt is from Chin Up Apparel – check out thier website!
Marsha says
Love the tank! π I hobbled through a race Saturday with a tight calf so this week is all about the cross training and hoping this loosens up. Massage scheduled tomorrow π
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The tank is from Chin Up Apparel. Oh no – sorry to hear about your calf π I hope it’s starting to feel better.
Ivanna says
Good Job! 14 miles is great. I am not training for anything but I am lifting and running.
kookyrunner says
That’s great! I wish I could lift more often. I need more hours in the day π
Steff says
You had such a great week! Love all the pictures from the meet up!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Steff! I hope the WRS meet up in Pittsburgh goes well this weekend!
Anna @ Piper's Run says
Nice week of workouts! It’s been ages since I’ve had the vega pre-workout drink – totally forgot about it….thanks for the reminder! I’m not training for anything yet but might have decided on a race!
kookyrunner says
No problem – Glad I could jog your memory about the Vega pre-workout!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I just love meeting up with other runners! It’s becoming an obsession of mine. I guess I’ll have to wait until October to meet up with you!
kookyrunner says
I can’t wait to travel to Chicago for the Marathon and looking forward to meeting you!
Kimberly Hatting says
I can’t remember if I’ve asked you before…are those Mizuno Wave Inspires? If so, how do they compare to previous models? I wasn’t much of a fan of the 11’s, and totally skipped the 12’s and went with Brooks…but the current Brooks are feeling a bit iffy now….(and I loved my Mizunos!!!)
kookyrunner says
Yup, those are the Mizuno Wave Inspire 11’s. I prefer the 10s (and still have two pairs), but the 11’s are okay. I am using new insoles so when I put those in the 11’s the sneakers feel much better! I wish I could find more pairs of the 10’s because those are my favorite!
Jess @ Jess Runs ATL says
Great week, and so fun you got to meet up with folks while they were in town!
kookyrunner says
The meet-ups are the best!
Rachel says
Sounds like a great week! You’re killing your training this cycle!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Rachel!
Jenn says
You did a great job this week, even with the snowstorm!
I’m training for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and my first sprint triathlon. I’m kind of nervous about both – Savannah will be a redemption run for me since I was injured and had to drop to the 5K mid-race last year, and the tri will be an absolute first for me.
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome that you are going back to Savannah for redemption – I’ve done that before with a race as well. I can’t wait to hear all about how you rocked the course!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You were a smart lady for getting your run in on Monday evening before the snow hit! I ran in it on Tuesday morning and my calves were extremely sore for three days! You are right about that snow being heavy! I shoveled our pathetic four inches, and it was soooo much work! I was actually afraid that I might hurt my back because it was so wet and heavy.
kookyrunner says
I give you so much credit for running in the snow – I’m sure that was more of a run/cross training! I hate shoveling heavy snow, it’ so tiring!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
I think the snowstorm messed a lot of us up last week. Even though working out indoors was an option, its hard to stay motivated when its cold and snowy outside. Hopefully this week will be a better week for all of us.
kookyrunner says
Totally agree. I made a pact with myself that if I did nothing else, I would get my runs in for the the week.
Mary Beth Jackson says
Great week with all that snow that was dropped! I love the pizza shirt- too funny! That is how I feel about pizza and wine! π I headed to NOLA this weekend!
kookyrunner says
That’s so exciting that you are heading to NOLA! Have fun π
Angela @marathonsandmotivation.com says
Sounds like a great week of training! I love your t-shirt, I want abs too, but I do love my pizza…haha!!! π
kookyrunner says
LOL, thanks so much! The shirt is from Chin Up Apparel.
Sandra Laflamme says
You had a great week of training despite the hiccup with the weather from Stella! Keep up the awesome work with your training!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much! Luckily this week has been much better weather-wise!
Tricia@MissSippipiddlin says
Yay I had a glitch the first time I tried to comment on your blog! I’m sure it was totally me!
I love the pizza shirt. Chin up apparel? I have a coffee one it is so comfy!
Thanks Kim for joining us!
