Happy Wednesday! Today I’m discussing my Fall race schedule and linking up with Deb from Deb Runs for her Race Linkup.
I’m also linking up with Annmarie from The Fit Foodie Mama, Jen from Pretty Little Grub and Nicole from FitFul Focus for Wild Workout Wednesday.
If you normally read my blog you know I am more than happy to wave bye-bye to Summer. Between the heat, humidity and bugs, I’m more than over it. I’m also over feeling like roadkill at the end of my runs. I am super excited to welcome the start of Fall next month! Why Fall? Well it’s my absolute favorite season – cooler weather, pumpkin flavored everything, and race season! I do a majority of my races in the Fall and I’m really excited about my Fall racing schedule this year.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA
Remix Challenge – 5K and Half Marathon
September 16-17
Okay, so granted this race is one week before the “official” start of Fall, but I’m still going to count it since it’s in September. This will be my first Rock ‘n’ Roll race this year! I did this race last year and loved it. The 5K was super fun and the half marathon was pretty good as well (minus the oppressive humidity that day). Fun fact – I’m running the half marathon as part of a 20 mile training run. While it’s going to be a challenge to fit in 7 miles before the race, I do enjoy using races as part of my training runs! I will definitely enjoy the VIP Experience at the end of the race as well! Fun fact #2 – There will more than likely be a #WeRunSocial meet up for this race.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Montreal
Montreal, Canada
Remix Challenge – 5K and Half Marathon
September 23-24
Yup, so I’m going from one racecation to another! When I say I am PUMPED for this race weekend, that is an understatement. This will be my first international race and fist visit to Canada. I am so excited for all that this race has to offer. This is also going to be a mini getaway for my family so the whole gang is coming to Montreal (parents and sister), and my mom is running the 5K. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this race, including that Montreal is such a clean and beautiful city!
Chicago Marathon
Chicago, IL
October 8
This is the BIG ONE! I’ve been training for this race since May and I’m super excited about it. This will be my second marathon. I’m also looking forward to meeting up with running friends from around the country during race weekend. I really love the city of Chicago and I am looking forward to taking a 26.2 mile tour of the entire city and all the awesome neighborhoods. I plan on running strong and having fun the whole race. So much so that I ordered this small bib from Races2Remember to pin on the back of my shirt ๐
Rock ‘n’ Roll Brooklyn
5 Mile or Half Marathon
Brooklyn, NY
October 14
I’m happy to go back to Brooklyn this year. I did the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Brooklyn race back in 2015 and didn’t have a good experience so I had sworn off the race. Fast forward to last year’s race and all my running friends were telling me that things had majorly improved and that I should give the race another chance, so here we are! I am currently signed up for the half marathon, but as this is less than one week after the Chicago Marathon, so I might drop down to the 5 mile option. I’ll have to see how I feel.
New York City Marathon
Start: Staten Island, NY / End: New York, NY
November 5
I haven’t talked about this too much (since Chicago is my goal race), but I’m also running the New York City Marathon again! This race goes through all the 5 boroughs (which is amazing) and the crowd support is insane. Since this will be a month after Chicago, I’m running this race purely for fun. Not quite sure how you run a marathon for “fun” but I’ll figure it out, LOL.
Colony Grill ‘Hot Oil’ 5K
Fairfield, CT
November 12
This is a really fun 5K and will be a welcome short run after the NYC Marathon. After the race, you can enjoy beer and unlimited pizza from Colony Grill, and you all know how I feel about pizza! The race is so popular that it usually sells out in a few hours.
Run 10 Feed 10
Virtual
As a Women’s Health Action Hero, I’m excited to share information about the Run 10 Feed 10 race series. As per their website:
“RUN 10 FEED 10 started in 2012 with the hope of raising money and awareness for the dire hunger problem in America. The concept was a simple one. RUN a 10K and FEED 10 hungry people in your hometown. In 5 years, youโve helped us to raise enough money to provide 5 million meals to Americans in need. Weโre facing the challenge and looking to provide relief to those in need again in 2017; the road to a happy, healthy community starts with you.”
They have races in a bunch of cities across the country. Unfortunately I already have a race scheduled the same day as the NYC race, so I’ll be doing my race virtually this year. If you’re interested in signing up, you can use code R10GREENE to save $5 off your registration!
I also wanted to mention another virtual race that I just signed up for, #RunForTexas. You can register for the 5K ($5) or 10K ($10) and 100% of the proceeds go the Texas Diaper Bank and the American Red Cross. You can complete your run anytime between September 1-4 (I’ll be running on Sept 4). This is a great way for the running community to come together and support all of those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Go to @moremilesmorefun or @live.love.run.repeat for more information.
Will I see you at any of these races? Have you run any of these races before? Let me know in the comments!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
You have so many great races coming up! And it so many fun cities! Cant wait to follow along. I am not really ready for summer to end but then again I haven’t been marathon training in the heat:)
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa! I know I’ll be busy but I really can’t wait for the Fall are season to start!
Coco says
Wow! So many great race destinations! I’m adding a few races to my calendar again but mostly local.
kookyrunner says
I didn’t take a vacation this year, so I did a few racecations instead lol
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
Ooh I would love to do the Montreal half sometime. You have a really busy and active fall ahead!
kookyrunner says
I think Montreal will be beautiful and I can’t wait since it will be my first trip to Canada!
Annmarie says
What a great race schedule! So jealous that you’re running RnR Montreal! And SO EXCITED for you for the Chicago Marathon! YAY!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I know it will be busy but I really can’t wait for Fall race season to start. I’m so excited for Montreal and Chicago!
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
I TOTALLY COVET your schedule. I can’t even explain to you how much!
kookyrunner says
Awwe thanks Susie. I’m so excited about it!
Debbie says
I am also happy that summer is almost over. I have had it with the heat. The problem with a fall marathon is that the training needs to be done in the summer! I swore off the St. George Marathon, which is where I ran my PR because I just got so I couldn’t do the training for an early October marathon.
You’ve got a great race schedule. So much travel! You should have traveled to Vegas for RNR! That is actually my next half marathon and I hear it’s wild!
kookyrunner says
So true! One year I might train in the winter for a Spring marathon. I think that will be a better fit for me.
I did RnR Vegas last year but couldn’t swing it this year (flights are crazy expensive). That race is hard because it’s always the week after the NYC Marathon.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I’m very excited that we’ll both be running Montreal and Brooklyn this year! I have to check my schedule, but hopefully, I can spectate for the RNR Philly Half! And 2 marathons? You’re a beast! ๐
kookyrunner says
Me too! I might drop down to the 5 mile for Brooklyn, but I’ll still be there. If you spectate for RnR Philly let me know which mile you will be at and I’ll look for you!
Marina @ Happy Healing says
Wow, you are signed up for so many awesome races. You’re inspiring me to sign up for one! I love fall running ๐
kookyrunner says
Fall racing is the best!
Toni says
All great races! I am jealous of your one in Montreal. I won’t be at any of them, but good luck!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Toni! I am really looking forward to Montreal too.
Cyndi says
Wow, so many races! And an international race, how exciting! I love Fall too, it’s my favorite.
kookyrunner says
Fall is just such a great time for races!
Jessica @ Fit Talker says
I may be at Chicago to spectate. My sister is running, but I waited too long to book a flight and prices have gone WAY up. So I just keep checking and we’ll see what happens.
Sono Half is also 10/14 and that’s my fall race (aside from a 5 mile turkey trot).
I’ve got my eye on RnR Vegas for some time in the future. And there’s another half in Jamaica that’s supposed to be great as well.
kookyrunner says
I know what you mean about the flights. I finally booked a flight a few weeks ago because I noticed the prices weren’t going down.
I hope to do the SONO half again next year. Which 5 mile Turkey Trot are you doing?
Jessica @ Fit Talker says
Last year I was in the area for Thanksgiving and did the Pequot 5 Miler. This year i”m back home on Long Island so it will be the Garden City Turkey Trot, which is a great local race.
I’m hoping that I can find a random cheap flight and book Chicago relatively last minute. Fingers crossed!
Kimberly Hatting says
You’re gonna be busy!! My schedule is looking slightly bleak…but I have a couple of events I’m gonna register for anyways. I know I can walk the distance, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to run some of the courses when race day dawns. Oh, and there’s R’n’R Vegas in November…..I’m hoping to run most of that as well ๐
kookyrunner says
You are going to love RnR Vegas!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Oh wow, you have a great fall race lineup! Sadly, none of our races are the same so no race meet-ups for us… this year.
Thanks so much for linking up!
kookyrunner says
Awwe bummer ๐ But there’s always next year!!
Jenn says
What a great race schedule. I loved RnR Philly when I did it last year (and yes, it was humid as all get out), and I would love to do Brooklyn, but I can’t swing it this year. Boo.
Enjoy those two marathons. Either one of those would be incredible to run.
kookyrunner says
I’m really hoping for better weather for RnR Philly next month!
Rachel says
You put my racing schedule to shame. And I’m completely okay with that. Haha! You’re gonna rock those races, girl!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Rachel – fingers crossed!
The Accidental Marathoner says
Wow! How cool you are running so many races in so many different places! I live in Chicago and will be there for my 5th consecutive year. Yay legacy status!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome that you will have legacy status after this year’s race!
