So today we’re going to talk about my “racing bucket list”. After running a few races, I think it’s common for any runner to start their “bucket list”. I’m all about combining vacations with races, otherwise known as a “racecation”. It’s a fun way to see a new city and run in a new-to-you area.
Let’s be honest, some of the races on my list are a definite stretch, and I’ll probably never get to do some of them unless I hit the lottery, but a girl can dream right?!
Bank of America Chicago Marathon

I still have to complete my first marathon to see if I want to run more, but in the off chance that I want to continue to run marathons, I would love to do the Chicago Marathon. I first visited the city last year and absolutely loved it. I’m going back this year for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Remix Challenge (5k and half-marathon) and I cannot wait! I know TONS of people that have completed this race with nothing but good things to say about it, so if I want to run a second marathon, this would be my choice!
Honolulu Marathon

To be honest, I don’t know much about this marathon and I don’t know anyone that has ever done this race, but it’s in freakin’ Hawaii!! I’ve never been to Hawaii so of course this would be an awesome vacation, with a 26.2 mile run added, lol.
New York City Marathon

I feel very lucky that this race will (hopefully) be something that I can check off my bucket list! I’ve heard so many great things about this race and although I am nervous, I can’t wait to tackle all 5 boroughs in November. I have volunteered for this race twice and the energy is truly electric!
Puerto Rico Half Marathon
If you read my A-Z Blogger Survey that I posted last week, you know that I love Puerto Rico. I’ve only ever been in the San Juan area, but its just an amazing place to visit. The weather is normally perfect, the beaches are amazing, the drinks are strong and the scenery is beautiful! I plan on taking a week-long vacation around the time of the half marathon at some point, hopefully next year 🙂

Chicago was my first marathon and its a great one! The only thing iffy is the weather as it can be very hot. But the fans are fantastic. I’ll be at 13 cheering! I’ll also see you at the RnR Remix! And Vegas! And if we both win the lotto. LONDON!! Haha!

I’ve heard the same thing about the weather for Chicago – hopefully I’ll pick the year when the weather is nice, lol. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for London one day!

I’ve always wanted to run Chicago too. I ran NYCM as my first marathon and I loved the crowd and energy. A lot of these races look awesome and look like a lot of fun.

I haven’t ran in any of the races you’ve listed but they’re on my bucket list! If only the Canadian dollar would go up a bit… I might be able to afford an entry haha

You bring up a good point – I wish these races weren’t so expensive!

Mine would be:
– NYC
– Chicago
– Marine Corp
– London
– Paris
– Big Sur 1/2 (don’t think I could manage a full on those hills)
– Boston (as a spectator – I am not that speedy)

That is a great list – we have many of the same races on our bucket list! I’ve run Chicago twice and loved every moment of it – awesome crowd support ,and nice and flat! I am in the lottery for NYC this year, so fingers crossed 🙂
Honolulu sounds amazing – a good friend of mine did a marathon in Maui this year, and living vicariously through her definitely put Hawaii on my bucket list for races! I’d love to do RnR New Orleans also… seems like an all-around fun experience.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you for NYC! 🙂
I mean who can resist Hawaii, right? I know that would be an awesome race.
