Happy Hump Day! Today I’m discussing my 2018 race schedule (so far) and linking up with Deb from Deb Runs for her Race Linkup.
I’m finally ready to share my 2018 Racing Schedule! This is about 90% done as I might add a few local races here and there, but all the big ones are included below. Let’s discuss!
Yuengling Shamrock 8K and Marathon
Virginia Beach, Virginia
March 17-18
I would say that this is my goal race for the year. This will be my first time doing this race but I’ve heard TONS of positive things about the race from running friends. As a social media ambassador for the race I’ve gotten to interact with the race organizers and everyone has been super supportive and nice. It’s shaping up to be an awesome race weekend as Kara Goucher and Bart Yasso will be in town for race weekend! I’m almost half way through my training and I’m hoping that I can get a marathon PR. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the weather gods are nice to us that weekend! If you want to sign up for any of the races that weekend, use code KookyRunner18 to save $5 off any registration.
Rite Aid Cleveland 8K and Half Marathon
Cleveland, Ohio
May 19-20
I’ve been looking forward to this race weekend since last year! Not only do they have a ton of race distances to choose from (1 Mile, 5K, 8K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon) but I’ve heard that the race course and support is amazing! There’s also a ton to do in Cleveland – from sports, to historic monuments, to shopping, to awesome restaurants, there’s no shortage of fun in Cleveland. Most importantly, I’ll get to see Rachel! π If you want to sign up for any of the races, use code KGCLE10 to save 10% off your registration fee.
Hope in Motion 10K
Stamford, Connecticut
June 3
This is my favorite local race every year. I have participated in it for numerous years and I love that it raises so much money for the Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago 5K and Half Marathon
Chicago
July 21-22
This will be my 3rd year returning to Chicago for the Remix Challenge. I missed not doing this race last year so I’m pumped to go back this July. Sure, it’s right in the middle of summer so it can be very hot and humid, but y’all know how much I love the city of Chicago π I’m also looking forward to meeting up with some of my favorite Chicago bloggers!
Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia 5K and Half Marathon
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
September 15-16
I’m going back to Philly for the 3rd year in a row! I primarily love this race because it doesn’t require me to board a plane to travel there. Philly is another awesome city and both the 5K and half marathon courses are pretty flat. The weather has been a challenge for this race the past 2 years (SO humid), but maybe this year will be different and we’ll get some great Fall weather!
SoNo Half Marathon
Norwalk, Connecticut
October 20
Another great local race. I missed the race last year since I did RnR Montreal, so I’m glad to be back this year. This is a relatively new race (less than 5 years old), but it is SO well organized and the race director is extremely nice. The on course support is great and the crowd support is even better. When I ran the race in 2016, I remember getting a small sample of ice cream around mile 11 which was much appreciated. Oh, and the post-race food is amazing – pizza, beer, snacks, etc!
Wilmington Womenβs Half Marathon
Wilmington, Delaware
October 27
This is an inaugural race, so I don’t have that much information about it, but it looks like it will be a fun race from everything I see on their website. I’m always a bit leery of inaugural races so I don’t have too many expectations.
New York City Marathon*
All 5 Boroughs in New York
November 4
I will hopefully be back on Staten Island on November 4th to tun the NYC Marathon for the 2nd time.
*Stop by the blog next week. I need your help in deciding on doing this marathon again.
Kiawah Island Golf Resort Half Marathon
Kiawah Island, South Carolina
December 8
This will be another new race for me this year. My running coach, Abby, lives in Charleston and she has told me so many great things about this race and the beautiful course. As an added bonus, I’ll get to spend the weekend with her so it’s a win-win!
I’m also linking up with Annmarie from The Fit Foodie Mama and Nicole from FitFul Focus for Wild Workout Wednesday.
And last but not not least, I’m linking up with Rachel from Running on Happy, Lora from Crazy Running Girl and Debbie from Coach Debbie Runs for Coaches’ Corner!
Have you finalized your 2018 race schedule? If so, what races are you looking forward to this year?
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
You have a lot of great races planned. I like when the race weekends offer various distances (like a half and n 8K). That way you can still participate and not commit to such a long race distance if you don’t want too!
kookyrunner says
Me too! I like to make it more of a fun race weekend vs. just one race.
Deborah Brooks says
you already have a jam packed schedule! One of these years I want to do RnR Philly
kookyrunner says
I hope that you can do RnR Philly one day – it’s a really fun race!
Chelsea says
How fun!! I bet you’ll rock 2018 with all those races!!! Good luck with your training!! I can’t wait to follow along!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Chelsea!
Anna @ Piper's Run says
That’s a great list of races you have lined up! I have once race in mind for the whole yet but haven’t registered yet. Well, that’s not true, I have a bunch of races I want to do but only focusing on 1 at the moment. A half in May, provided I get my hip/hamstring in order!
kookyrunner says
I think that’s a smart plan! I hope that your hip/hamstring get better soon.
Chaitali says
Great list! I’m doing the National Women’s Half, it’s an inaugural race and by the same people doing the Wilmington one. I’m usually wary of inaugural races too so fingers crossed for both of us. I’m thinking of the Kiawah race too! It all depends on if the lead we have on housing for that weekend works out or not.
kookyrunner says
Oh thats so interesting! I hope that the race goes well – can’t wait to hear what you thought about it.
Fingers crossed that you can run Kiawah too!
Kimberly Hatting says
You’ve got your calendar full! My “last” race (so far) is the 5K at the end of September (it was my first race back after my surgery last year). I’m toying with R’n’R Philly and possibly R’n’R Savannah. Too many choices! I look forward to finally meeting you in Chicago!
kookyrunner says
I know, there are just SO many race choices. Although I always want to run #alltheraces, I really try to focus on doing the ones I really actually want to do where I know it will be a fun weekend.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
You have so many races planned in fun places! The Cleveland marathon is great (even though I only spectated and ran the 10k).
kookyrunner says
I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the Cleveland races so I’m really excited about it!
Rachel says
You’re going to have such an amazing year of racing!! So many awesome places. One of my runners is hemming and hawing over NYCM as well. I think you both should do it!!
kookyrunner says
Ahh NYCM…I’m just not sure yet, lol.
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
What a killer calendar! I hope to see you at RNR Philly!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Nicole! Looking forward to seeing you this Fall!
Annmarie says
So excited for you to run the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon! I have never run it but have heard great things and am sending you all the positive PR vibes! <3
kookyrunner says
Thanks friend! I need all the positive vibes I can get, lol.
Coco says
Sounds like a great year! I’ve only got my spring schedule down ….
kookyrunner says
You’ve still got so much time to plan your race schedule for the year! What do you have planned for the Spring?
Wendy says
I cannot wait to meet up with you in July! You’ve got so many great races on your calendar. I know I said mine was going to be see how it goes, but guess what? It’s filling up too!
kookyrunner says
Same here Wendy! I’m really looking forward to RnR Chicago because I’ll get to finally meet you, Marcia, etc! π
Andrea says
Looks like you have a great year planned out! I still haven’t picked a single competition to do. Definitely need to get on that….
kookyrunner says
You’ve got time! π
Hannah says
Wow–you’re so on it! What an awesome line up
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I hope it’s a fun racing season π
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Whew! That’s a whole lot of racing.
Ya know, I’ve been seriously considering Kiawah too (for years, actually). My husband & I might have to have a discussion this weekend, before the price increase. He HATES even thinking about stuff that far away, but I love it. π
Have you ever done Redding Road Race? That was my CT half. I highly recommend it. So well organized.
kookyrunner says
I love to plan stuff way in advance, lol. I registered for Kiawah when it was $40 bucks. I figured for that price, you can’t go wrong. I’ve also heard how gorgeous the course is!
I’ve done a lot of CT races but never the Redding Road Race. It’s one that I need to add to my calendar for 2019.
Debbie says
Great schedule! Though I hope to someday see you racing out here on the west coast!
kookyrunner says
I would love to make it out to the West Coast more often, I just need airline tickets to go down in price lol!
Chrissy @ Snacking in Sneakers says
Looks like a pretty awesome race line up! I did the Cleveland Marathon back in 2010 and had a good experience there. I’m going to look into that Wilmington Women’s race for this year!
kookyrunner says
That’s great that you had an awesome experience in Cleveland! I’m really looking forward to that race.
I hope that you’re able to do the Wilmington Women’s race.
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
You certainly have a great line up of races for this year. I’m only registered for a couple of races right now, but have a long list of possible races. Hopefully I’ll be able to commit to more races sooner than later.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Kathryn. Hopefully I will get to see you at a race this year!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You’ve got a good list of races on your calendar! I’m bummed that I’m not planning on running any of those races so we can plan a meet up.
Thanks for linking up!
kookyrunner says
I know π I wish I could come out to the Eat coast, especially for RnR San Diego but it’s just so expensive to fly cross country!
