Happy Wednesday! Today I’m linking up with Annmarie from The Fit Foodie Mama, Jen from Pretty Little Grub, Michelle at Fruition Fitness and Nicole from Nicole from FitFul Focus for Wild Workout Wednesday!
We all know nutrition is very important for runners. It’s important that we fuel our bodies properly, with food with real ingredients. Sure, I’m never going to give up pizza or ice cream, but I reserve that for the weekends. During the week I try to eat pretty well and follow the 80/20 rule.
One problem I always deal with is HANGER. After a long run or a really hard strength training workout, I literally want to eat anything I can get my hands on. Every since I started training for the marathon, I’ve been trying to be more conscious of this. One thing I’ve been working very hard to do is to add more protein in my diet, especially after a long run. To help your muscles recover, you need protein. After my weekend long runs, I’ve been sure to eat 1-2 eggs with some sort of meat and a slice of toast (have to get some carbs in, lol). While this works for morning runs, not so much for my afternoon runs. I usually need something to eat after those runs, but not too much since I usually have dinner a few hours later. RXBAR help to solve this issue!
I first heard about RXBAR from Erica. She was kind enough to send me a few bars to try. Needless to say, I was hooked! About a week later I reached out to RXBAR and they kindly agreed to send me a few bars to sample, in addition to some to give away to my readers (see below for details on how to enter my giveaway)!
What is RXBAR?
RXBAR is gluten, dairy, and soy free. They use all natural ingredients, including non-GMO ingredients. They are not vegan, as they do contatin eggs. Here is the company’s motto:
“We believe that food should be simple and delicious without compromising nutrition. We believe that food should be consumed as nature intended. We set out to create a whole food protein bar we felt good about eating and that made us feel great after we ate it. And we’re sticking to it.”
The bars come in nine flavors – maple sea salt, chocolate sea salt, mint chocolate, blueberry, coconut chocolate, peanut butter, coffee chocolate, apple cinnamon and pumpkin spice.
I’ve tried half of the flavors so far and my favorite has been the coconut chocolate – I’m a sucker for anything coconut! What I love about these bars is that they each have 12 grams of protein and they help keep me full without that bloated feeling. It’s a great way to re-fuel after a run as well.
If all of this sounds good to you, enter below for your chance to win a 12-pack variety box of RXBARs!
Giveaway ends on September 1st – GOOD LUCK!
