Happy Friday! Are you having a good month? I can’t believe that this is the last runfessions post of 2019. Actually, it’s the last Runfessions post of the decade -isn’t that crazy?! Wow, how time flies!
As usual, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions. Let’s get this party started!
I runfess that I’m always sad when the holidays are over π
This is my favorite time of the year for multiple reasons, but the main reason is that you see a lot of holiday cheer and goodwill from people. In today’s society, that’s something that is rare so it’s always great to see an abundance of it over the holiday season. I will definitely miss that!
I runfess that I finally started to look at races for 2020
I’ve actually done research and written down a few races that might work with my schedule next year. I definitely put this off for the last few weeks but I finally had free time this week to spend researching races in the states I want to run in next year. I only have 10 more states to go in my quest to run in 25 states. I’m hoping I can complete this goal in the next 2-3 years.
I runfess that I would love to take a non-running vacation next year
Don’t get me wrong, I love racecations, but it would be nice to take a non-running vacation. Somewhere tropical perhaps? I haven’t had a non-running or non-work related trip in a few years so I think I’m due for one! It’s hard to get my family to decide on a vacation spot, but hopefully we can come to some type of agreement next year.

Doesn’t this look amazing?!
I runfess that I’m a huge fan of after-Christmas shopping
Does anyone hit up the stores after Christmas to buy wrapping paper, tissue paper and bags for next year? I’m a sucker for a bargain so when I can purchase these items for 50-75% off, I’m super happy! I also keep my eye out for any items that I think will make good gifts for birthdays or the following Christmas.
I runfess that I think 2020 is going to be a great year
2019 wasn’t exactly a great year for many people that I know. My hope (and prayer) is that 2020 is a much better year all around. I already have some ideas in my head on how I can make it a super good year for me. I’m hoping that all the stars align and that it’s a great year for many others too!
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions! I hope that you have a great weekend!
I’m also linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.
Do you have anything you want to runfess for December?
Haha, yes, I think you deserve a vacation with no race – sometimes it’s good to simply take a rest and enjoy a place without any hectic activities.
And a big resounding YES to this: I hope 2020 is going to be a super good year for you and your family!
I totally agree! I am hoping that my family can decide on a place to go – that’s always the biggest battle lol
Funny, those non-race vacations can sometimes turn into a racecation. I’ve done that a few times. But it is nice to just vaca. Do it!
Really? Actually, I can see me doing that, LOL
A tropical vacation with no race involved sounds SO nice! I hope you work something out. Here’s to a fabulous 2020!
Thanks so much Marcia!
Yes. I love the after Christmas sales.
Come to Bermuda in Feb!!
I planned my 2020 early. Then I hurt my foot. That really sucks. It may be a painful 2020.
I hope that your foot continues to heal and feel better!
Well you know I am a big fan of tropical vacations. You can always run anywhere you choose to go with your family. I don’t buy holiday stuff on sale this time of the year but I do seem to find lots of other on sale clothing items to buy π
I’m hoping that we can agree on a place to go. I really just want a beach and a pina colada in my hand, lol.
I’m excited to see where your 2020 adventures take you! Hopefully Iowa is one of them π I love the after Christmas sales, too…but it seems the past few years we’ve been traveling and not able to stock up on anything. First world probs LOL
I hope so too! I will need to see if I can make my way there in the Fall π
My big plans for 2020 revolve aroung the WEDDING. That will be a non-running getaway, and hopefully as the parents of the GROOM, somewhat of a vacation. ;-). I enjoy post-xmas shopping but wonβt get much chance to do it this year – my daughter just arrived and taking her to the mall is dangerou$ π
Awwe, that’s awesome! That will certainly be a very joyous occasion!
Can’t wait to see what races you’ve got planned for 2020. I started to pencil a few in and need to get back to planning.
A big yes to a tropical vacation! You deserve some relaxing fun in the sand and sun!
I know what you mean about the After-Christmas sales – some of the deals are hard to resist!
So far I’m thinking of doing the Love Run 1/2 marathon in Philly in March and then the Detroit Half in October. Other than that, still trying to pencil some in!
I runfess that I love reading about runcations but I cannot imagine ever taking one. Travel is so exhausting and I can’t imagine running a race on top of that so I’m glad that I get to live vicariously through your travels. With that said, some of my favorite runs this year were the beach runs that I took on vacation. There is nothing better than going for a run and then taking a cool down dip in the ocean right after.
Travel is definitely exhausting! I always say that I love getting to my final destination, but getting there is such a pain in the butt – especially when it comes to air travel.
I totally agree re: holiday goodwill. It’s such a good thing and so sadly rare.
Used to be a post-Christmas wrapping paper etc. shopper, but since we got TJ Maxx it’s cheap enough to do before and sometimes the best stuff is worth their “full price”. Got awesome dino wrapping paper for my nephew that I’ll now have for the next decade.
Totally agree with your goal of a “normal” vacation. Sometimes the destination is just worth it
Dino Christmas wrapping paper sounds amazing!! I’ve never seen that before.
just tweeted you a pic since link won’t past here
Just saw it – thanks!
Definitely take a non running vacation! I loved my running trips this year but Greece and other weekend trips we took this year were amazing!
I’m with you on after holiday sales – I got some things yesterday that were on my list π
Your photos from Greece were amazing! Definitely a place I’d want to visit.
I used to shop for the kids the day after Christmas and save gifts for the following year, but now that they are older their wishes are much more specific than just ‘generic’ toys I would buy. I do still bargain hunt for holiday items, though!
So true! It’s so much harder to buy for kids as they get older. If I see any generic toys on a good discount I’ll usually buy them and then donate to Toys for Tots the following year.
Our holidays go on a little bit longer – Mr PugRunner’s birthday is January 1 so we’re still going strong. These holidays will definitely need a do over next year though. It’s been kind of a sucky time.
I don’t love going shopping after Christmas, but I don’t love shopping in general.
I can’t wait for our next vacation! Running-related or not I just want out of this house!
I love extending the holidays – we do the same in my family since my mother has a January birthday.
Perhaps 2020 will end up being a good year, but I know for sure bad things are going to happen in it. I guess that’s life.
Was just talking to Mr. Judy about a non-running vacation, LOL! Not sure it’ll happen. Not even sure a racecation will, but I hope it will.
My after Christmas buys tend to be clothes. π
I actually did buy 2 sweaters after Christmas this year – I couldn’t pass up the great sale!
I runfess that I’m VERY happy that there are likely to be no racing trips this year, just stuff done locally with minimum fuss! Happy new year!
I can totally understand that! Local races are always much appreciated and so easy logistically lol.
This is typically my favorite time of year too! However, this year it was very difficult for many reasons and super busy with my kids. I’m looking forward to a better 2020!!!
I’m sorry that this holiday season was rough for you π Wishing you tons of positive things in 2020!
I like the idea of after Christmas shopping but since I rarely “need” anything, I usually go a week later and take my chances on what is left…lol.
I runfess that I havent even thought of races for 2020. I look forward to see which races you pick out, especially any Racecations you might plan! -M
My after Christmas shopping didn’t go that great this year – Target and Party City barely had anything left!
I’m with you there–I’m glad people are a lot nicer and more giving during the holidays (although I very much wish this were a year-round thing). I’m a big fan of after-Christmas shopping too–all the great deals!! I hope 2020 is a better year for everyone!
We need to bottle up all the niceness and spread it around throughout the year lol
You definitely deserve a non-running and non-work related trip! Book it!
I usually don’t hit up the stores the last week before Christmas or the first week or two after Christmas because I hate the crowds. My exception is going to Barnes and Noble for book night which we do one night between Christmas and New Year’s Day (we did it last night). I do love a good bargain, though!
Totally makes sense – I really hate crowds too. I usually go early in the morning when the store opens or at night to avoid most of the crazy crowds.
The holiday season is always so joyful but way too short! I hope you have a very happy new year! in 2020! i think going on a non-running vacation sounds fantastic! Anywhere with a beach always sounds like a winner to me!
I agree – it’s way too short, so that’s why I extend it as long as I can π
Wishing you and your family a fun and healthy 2020!
