Happy Wednesday! I hope that everyone is having a great week so far. Here in Connecticut we’re expecting another Nor’easter today. Right now it’s not too bad, just more of a rain/snow mix, but we’re supposed to get 12 inches of snow – ugh! I don’t mind winter at all but I’m not a huge fan of snow. Hopefully it won’t be too bad!
Another month, another set of goals. Although I can’t believe that January and February are behind us, I do like the start of a new month. I use it as a time to evaluate where I am currently, and where I ultimately want to be. I’m hoping to achieve some great goals in March!
First, let’s take a look at my goals from February:
Complete the Supermans, Squats and Twists Challenge
Grade: A
This was a great challenge! I loved how we eventually built up to doing 100 repetitions of each move by the end of the month!
Watch the Olympics!
Grade: B+
I think I did a good job with this goal. It was hard to watch a lot of the events live because of the time difference, but I was happy to watch the opening and closing ceremonies, ice skating and most of the skiing/snowboarding events.
Meal prep like a boss
Grade C
I think I did some form of meal prep on two out of the four weekends so I definitely need to get better about that.
Decide what to give up Lent
Grade: A
As of Ash Wednesday I still had no clue what I wanted to give up for Lent. I finally decided on giving up chips. It’s been a struggle but that’s a good thing. After Lent I probably won’t crave chips as much which is a positive!
Try Something New
Grade: F
Unfortunately I didn’t accomplish this goal in February so I’ll try again this month!
Here are my goals for March!
Complete the Total Body Challenge
Rachel has another great challenge for us this month! This challenge is all about push-ups, burpees, supermans and planks. It’s not to late to join!
Try Something New
Since I didn’t complete this goal in February, I’m moving it to this month. I have a few ideas in mind, I just need to pick one. I’m actually thinking of trying cryotherapy next week!
Complete my 3rd marathon
At first this was going to be “PR my 3rd marathon” but some recent/current aches and pains made me reconsider that goal. Right now, I’m all about “finishing is winning”! I think as long as my knee and back hold up for the race I should be okay, but I might have to do more of a run/walk on the back half of the race. Either way, I’m going into the race with a positive attitude and that’s most important.
Do you set monthly goals? Do you have any goals for March?
I’m linking up with Annmarie from The Fit Foodie Mama and Nicole from FitFul Focus for Wild Workout Wednesday.
I’m also linking up with Rachel from Running on Happy, Lora from Crazy Running Girl and Debbie from Coach Debbie Runs for Coaches’ Corner!
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
I might have to join you on that challenge! Way to go with the February one!

Yes, please the challenge this month. It’s great!

A positive mindset is absolutely the most important thing!
I don’t work, and I don’t meal prep. I really ought to too, though — I do make a loose plan for meals throughout the week, but I still often find myself in the evening prepping stuff when I really, really, really don’t want to.
There’s a cryotherapy place opening up somewhere around here, I think (or maybe I saw something on groupon). I’ll be interested to hear what you think!
It’s snowing again here, but they downgraded us from a foot+ to maybe 6″ — it seems as though they mixed up last week’s & this week’s forecast!
kookyrunner says
We didn’t get as much snow as predicted either which is a good thing! I definitely didn’t want to shovel a lot of snow today.
If I do cryotherapy I will definitely write a blog about it!
Kimberly Hatting says
This is the first month in a long time I have not really set any specific monthly goals. Oddly, I’m not feeling bad about it either 😉 That said, I am hoping to run my two races strong…the 10K this weekend and the 13.1 next weekend. I have never run a half marathon this early in the season, so the weather/temps will be an interesting challenge thrown into the race day circumstances. I’m excited for you and your marathon 😉
kookyrunner says
I think that’s okay though. Some months are busier than others so some months it’s probably easier to set goals.
Deborah Brooks says
I was not as prepped as usual for meals this month. I need to get re focused this month again. My man goal this month is to stay injury free
kookyrunner says
Staying injury free is also a huge goal of mine!
Relentless Forward Commotion says
I don’t set monthly goals, but I should start! I’m currently on day #67 without alcohol, aiming for 100 days. So that will take up March. I think I’d like to take a yoga class 3x per week this month too!
kookyrunner says
Wow that’s great about your plan to go 100 days without alcohol! I only drink on the weekends but I should definitely try that.
Andrea says
All in all, a pretty good report card! I’m hoping to try some new foods this week since my husband and I are taking a vacation to Hawaii. I want to eat all the seafood!
kookyrunner says
I hope that you have the best time in Hawaii – how exciting!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job keeping up with the challenge last month! Sounds like you have some good plans in place for March. I’d be interested to hear what you think of cryotherapy if you try it!
kookyrunner says
I will definitely write a blog post on cryotherapy if I do it!
Rachel says
Thanks for plugging my challenges! I’ve been having so much fun with them and I’m just thankful others have joined me.
I think you’re absolutely going into your race with the right attitude. It’s all about fun for me in distance racing and if a PR comes along with it, that’s cool. If not, as long as I had a good time is what matters most. 5Ks on the other hand… 😉
kookyrunner says
No problem at all! Thanks for designing the challenges for us! 🙂
Wendy says
I don’t meal prep but I do meal plan! My husband and I share cooking duties (he does more of it than me) but I plan and shop for the week. That makes it so much easier.
I joined the TBC this month and oh, am I sore! It was needed, tho. Good luck on the marathon!!!
kookyrunner says
I think my lack of meal planning is what messes up my meal prep. I just try to throw things together from food I already have in the freezer and pantry, lol
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I like the goal of trying something new. I definitely need to add that one for next month! Meal prep didn’t happen at all for me in February…ugh. I’m looking forward to seeing how you do with the marathon, you got this!

I feel like my routine is the same thing day in and day out so I really want to try something new to mix things up!
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
I always plan to meal prep, but then do not follow through! It is a goal for this month for sure!!
kookyrunner says
I think that meal prepping will be a goal for me throughout the year!
Esther says
These are great goals! I like the try something new goal!
Hope all goes well with your marathon!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Esther! I’m looking forward to the race next weekend.
Debbie says
I love that trying something new is one of your goals and I can’t wait to hear if you choose cryotherapy. It sounds interesting. I should set a goal to meal prep. I’m so bad at it!
kookyrunner says
I think that meal prepping will have to be a yearly goal for me because I just never seem to get to it on the weekends!
Denise says
Giving up chips is something I need to do! Good luck! That Whole Body Challenge looks tough, maybe I can get my girls to do it with me. One of my goals is to meal prep…I’m not doing so well thus far 😉
Good luck on your marathon!
kookyrunner says
Ugh it’s so hard! I’m hoping that after Lent I won’t crave them as much.
Thanks so much for the well wishes on the marathon!
Mary Waterman says
Good posts! It’s always very important to start any new form of exercise! I like sports in the outdoors.
kookyrunner says
I like to go hiking when the weather is nice!
