Happy Friday! It’s a new month and it’s time to set new goals! No matter how crazy everything gets, I always like to set monthly goals because I find that they help to keep me focused.
First, let’s take a look at my goals from April:
Earn Gold status in April Peloton Challenges
Grade: A
I was proud of myself for earning gold status in the monthly Peloton challenges last month, and I picked up a few other badges too!
Dedicate a minimum of 10 minutes per day to yoga or meditation
Grade: B
There were some days that I didn’t do yoga or meditation, but then there were other days I did 20 or 30 minutes of yoga.
Here are my goals for May!
Complete 2018 and 2019 Peloton badge classes
I love the Peloton badges and one of my unofficial goals for 2021 is to complete every Peloton class that gives a badge. My goal is to get through the 2018 and 2019 classes as Peloton seems to purge older content once or twice a year. I’ve been digging this challenge this so far because I get to take classes with a lot of instructors I typically wouldn’t take, so it allows me to branch out a bit!
Clean up my diet
I’ve been keeping up with my workouts but I let me diet go out the window over the past month. Some days I didn’t have any appetite and other days I did a lot of emotional eating. Right now I’m not loving the way my clothes are fitting, so I’d like to work on settling back into cleaner eating habits.
Complete a Peloton Bootcamp class 2x a week
Since my OTF account will continue to be frozen until mid June, I want to make sure I do their style of workout a few times a weeks. The closest thing to their workouts are the Peloton bootcamps since it combines running and strength training.
That’s it for this month – wish me luck!
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for May?
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday!

I runfess I took two cardio warm-ups to earn that cardio badge. 😉 I laughed at your comment about how your clothes are fitting, because I’m still wearing leggings and wouldn’t know. I know my eating habits are sliding. My husband’s are so bad and I am sinking to his level.
kookyrunner says
LoL I love that you did the warm ups to get the badge. For the new yoga badges I am trying to find the 5 or 10 minute classes, especially for the power yoga badge because those classes look hard!
Darlene S Cardillo says
Great job with Pelton and OTF.
I’m glad I do not have any goals other than get outside everyday. Esp one with meditation and yoga.
There was a whole lot of eating and desserts during my vacation. Now back to normal.
kookyrunner says
Often times I think the best thing about vacation is the yummy food!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Congrats on your month! I hear you on cleaning up the diet – I’ve been trying to be more proactive and finally commit to meal planning each week. Smoothies have been really helping to satisfy my sweet tooth!
kookyrunner says
I need to get back to my morning smoothies as I think that would help out a lot with my mindless snacking throughout the day!
Jenny says
I can’t seem to get myself to set monthly goals this year, although I’m sure it would be beneficial! I would say you did great with your April goals ( I would upgrade you to a B+ on the yoga/meditation.). Good luck with your May goals, especially the eating- why is that one so hard???
kookyrunner says
Ugh – the eating is always so hard! I feel like I haven’t been able to get into a good groove with my eating for a while which is super frustrating.
Kimberly Hatting says
I’ve been trying to clean up my diet some, too. (twinning again LOL). Cutting sugar is tough, but I’ve lasted through 2+ months of my “candy boycott at work,” so that’s a good thing. I’m not a gum-chewer, but I have been reaching for a piece of that when the temptation for a Hersey’s miniature flirts with me. I only chew it for a few minutes, then I’m good LOL
kookyrunner says
Lasting 2 months for a candy boycott is a big deal, I would say you did great! Sometimes gum will help me stop snacking but it doesn’t work all the time lol
Laurie says
I love your plan to dedicate 10 minutes per day to meditations or yoga. I think I may adopt that plan next month. I feel better when I do yoga or meditate but often neglect to do it.
kookyrunner says
I love the yoga classes that focus on one body part. Peloton has a few different classes that focus on hips and hamstrings which are great.
Wendy says
Good luck with your goals! Now that I’m done with my races, it’s going to be cruise control, at least for May. I’ve got a challenge that I’m considering but it’s not a race…stay tuned
kookyrunner says
Cruise control is good! I’ve been on cruise control for the last 14 months…lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
So how do you find these classes that give a badge? I like how this will “force” you to take classes with other instructors. I am sticking with specific types of music for bike classes and I am taking classes with others besides Cody. Yes, I am cheating on him. 🙂 I am having a hard time with running classes because there aren’t that many good ones.
kookyrunner says
There’s a list of all the classes that give badges on the PeloBuddy website – I’ll text it to you 🙂
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
It’s completely understandable that you struggled with eating with everything that went on in your life. I’m “lucky”, I guess, when I’m that stressed I either literally don’t have the time to eat and I usually lose my appetite. I lost weight when going through some of the serious stuff with my parents. Now that things are better I know you’ll get back on track.
2 of the bootcamps is a lot of work! And doing Yoga more often than not is a great thing — congrats!
How is your dad doing, Kim?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy. It was so weird how some days I was super hungry and others, no appetite at all. I’m looking forward to getting back on track this month.
My dad is doing well! He will be able to come back home on Tuesday after spending 2 weeks at the rehab facility. He will have someone come to the house to continue working with him on his physical therapy once home.
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
well done on your Peloton and OTF work!
you know I don’t think *anyone* could have blamed you for not taking care of yourself nutrition-wise while your family was going through so much stress with your dad being in the hospital. It’s crazy how for some of us “eating well” and staying on food-track can be quite challenging depending on circumstances!
good luck with your new goals! though I’m not sure you need it 😉
kookyrunner says
Thanks Renee. I’m usually good in stressful situations when I have to deal with logistics and tasks, but my eating definitely took a hard hit last month. Luckily I don’t have to wear real pants or jeans daily because that could be an issue, lol.
Michelle D. says
I really like your Peloton badge challenge! I cannot figure out the rhyme or reason as to when Peloton decides to purge their classes. I have some older ones bookmarked and I’m starting to think I shouldn’t wait too long to take them.
I’m so with you on the need to clean up my eating – I had this for a goal in April and it still needs some work LOL!
kookyrunner says
Same here! I have heard that sometimes they will purge classes if the audio or production “isn’t up to their current standards”. I imagine that’s why they got rid of any classes from 2017 and earlier.
Cari says
I need to get back to monthly goals. They’re so helpful. Badge collecting is so fun.
Way to go, especially in this challenging month. 10K minutes is just.. WOW. Proud of you
kookyrunner says
I can’t explain why I’m drawn to the badges so much. I know it’s silly but I can’t help it, lol. Plus it does make picking the classes more fun.
Cari says
were you a girl scout? That’s where I trace my “collecting” habits.
kookyrunner says
Hahah yes I was!!
