Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: Yesterday was National Lottery Day. What would you do/buy if you won the lottery?. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
Before diving into this week’s topic, I wanted to share that while I’ll still be doing Tuesday Topics posts, I will probably not post as many Week in Review blog posts on Sundays. Because I am not training for a race, or trying nothing new currently, I felt like the posts were just getting way too repetitive/boring. Plus I’m trying to spend less time in front of a computer screen, but I plan to be back to a more normal cadence around late Summer/early Fall, hopefully.
This topic is very timely as I’ve been thinking about it the past few days, probably with all the buzz around Powerball. I don’t regularly play the lottery – the most I do is hope for some winnings on my holiday scratch off tickets on Christmas, lol. But I know you have to be in it to win it, right? Here’s a list of things I would love to do if I won the lottery (any amount).
1.) The first thing I would do is pay off my parent’s mortgage. I would absolutely LOVE to do this for them if I could. It would make me so happy.
2.) Purchase my own home. This has been a goal of mine for the past 5 years but with Covid, and then the inflated housing market, it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to do this unless I actually win the lottery, lol.
3.) Donate to local charities. I would probably pick 5 to donate to. I would want to support local vs national charities so that the money could make a substantial impact in my community.
4.) Pay off debts for my best friends and a few family members. I would like to be able to help them (within reason) with any outstanding debts like student loans, car payments, etc.
5.) Finally, if I still had a good amount of money left, I would quit my job. I know people always say they would quit their job immediately if they won the lottery, but I would feel bad and still give a 2 weeks notice 🙂

I can imagine that the Week in Review posts can be quite time-consuming. That is why I decided to join the Tuesday and Wednesday group – it gives me more time to comment and the topics are more varied and interesting.
I dream of retiring early but I think winning the lottery is the only way to make that possible, lol.
LOL on the 2 weeks notice 🙂 That is very sweet to want to help your parents first. In a way, I feel like I’ve already won. I am happily married with 2 amazing now adult kids. I feel very blessed and more recently with the health issues, I feel so very lucky and appreciative.

Love your ideas! The housing market is so crazy right now. People are still buying houses even with the high interest rates. I also thought about quitting (not sure if I would give my two weeks notice ) but then I wouldn’t have insurance. But with my winnings I can pay for it on my own, right?
Yeah I pretty much gave up looking for a house to buy right now because the market is still so inflated and the interest rates are a joke.
This is such a fun post, and I’ve thought over the years about this topic— yet I do not play the lotto 🙂 but if I did and won, I would buy my mom and my aunt the house of their dreams. My aunt is like my second mom, so she is at the top of my list with mom. I would pay any debts I had. After that, I would build the cottage of my dreams in Puerto Rico– that is my home and I miss visiting there. It would be awesome to have a place to call home there.
I should definitely play the lotto more – because you have to be in it to win it!
