Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: FREE topic!. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
We have a free topic this week! Since International Self Care Day was yesterday, I figured that would be a great topic for today’s post.
#InternationalSelfCareDay
When you take care of yourself to stay well, you are practicing self-care. Staying well includes taking care of your whole self: physically, mentally, and emotionally. For some, self-care also includes taking care of themselves spiritually. So what exactly does self-care look like? It could be as simple as having some quiet time each day. Others might have coffee with a friend at least once a week.
Need a few ideas to get started? I researched online and sourced a few ideas on how to practice self care:
– Get a massage
– Read a book to help guide you on your self-care journey, such as The Comfort Book by Matt Haig, The Self-Love Experiment by Shannon Kaiser, or Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown.
– Take time to listen to a self-care podcast
I love these ideas because they are all small ways that you can practice self care. Often people don’t have time in the day for “elaborate” self care options like taking a road trip or an hour long bath. I like to do what I call “bite-size” self care acts. Here are a few of my favorites:
– Journal: This doesn’t have to be long, just 5 minutes is good.
– Meditation: again, 5 minutes normally does the trick, especially at night.
– Enjoying a good meal: I don’t necessarily love to cook, but I do love to enjoy a good meal.
– Outdoor walk: When time allows, I love to do this during my lunch break.
– Volunteering: I consider helping others a form of self care because it brings me joy.
Tell Me: How do you practice self care?

I think your idea of “bite-size” self-care is excellent! It’s practical and can be implemented easily in daily life. I can see how these outdoor lunch walks would feel great!
I’ve just come back from a lovely run by the river and through a forest. It’s very calming and I feel energized when I come back. I view this as my self-care time.

My thoughts exactly! It has to be things that are sustainable.

Great ideas.
My self care is a haircut and manicure.
Also an ice cream cone and a good book.
Sitting on the beach.
All made me feel happy and revived.

I also think of pedicures as a form of self care, especially because it normally includes a nice foot massage 🙂

Self-care is so important but many don’t do it or “not enough”. I like to do things that make me happy such as enjoying some “junk food”. I don’t do it all of the time but nothing wrong with eating a Big Mac and fries. I also like to go out on the balcony and read a book. I’ve been enjoying my walks in the morning or after a run.

Time outdoors is so nice, especially when the weather cooperates.
