Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: What do you love about living in your town/state? Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
I’ll admit that Connecticut doesn’t get a lot of love. Let’s face it – we’re part of the “tri-state area”, but New York and New Jersey get all the attention and when people think of New England, Massachusetts is the first state that comes to mind. Yes, it’s a small state, but there are quite a few things I like about living here.
Big City Feel
Stamford is the 3rd biggest city in the state with almost 130,000 residents. It’s definitely not a small city, and there’s a good amount of stores and restaurants here. If I ever feel the need to visit NYC, I can! The Metro North train gets me into Grand Central Station in under an hour. I love that I’m so close to one of the best cities in the world.
South Norwalk (SoNo)
SoNo is a neighborhood in Norwalk and it’s known for its dining, shopping and entertainment center. SoNo offers an amazing collection of restaurants, bars, bakeries, shops, galleries, and attractions. There is also an aquarium and large movie theatre complex as well. You can spend a full day there doing “all the things”!
Harbor Point
This is an area of Stamford that has really developed nicely over the past decade. I used to live in this area and I also made it part of several long runs when I was marathon training. It’s a beautiful area and has a little of everything – stores, restaurants, apartments and boating. It’s always nice to walk or run by the water.
Breweries
We have two or three breweries and I really enjoy Half Full Brewery. I like to try different types of beers from around the country/world but this brewery also often features local CT beers which is awesome.
OTF Stamford
I know OTF is not unique to my city, but I really enjoy my studio. It has felt different since re-opening after Covid – it doesn’t have that “community” feel as much but I feel like that is even getting better. I think our studio really stands out from other because of the members and also the coaches – we really have a rockstar roster of coaches.

Thanks for sharing. You live in a nice part of the country.
I live outside Albany and it’s the capital. So there’s theater concerts malls but also lots of nearby hiking. I love how easier it is to travel by plane train or car.

That’s one thing that we don’t have here – good hiking trails.

I really think you can find good things in just about any location. You have some huge benefits, living that close to NYC, and the photos of your city look beautiful. Being on the water is always a plus!
The thing I like best about living in Florida is the weather IN THE WINTER. Not as fond of the summer months, but I don’t think I could survive any more winters up north (I grew up near Chicago.). I’m also near the ocean, but I don’t get there as much as I used to.

I’m a cold weather gal so I actually enjoy the super cold temps here in Winter, lol. I know I am in the minority there haha.

I was born in New Haven but we moved away when I was a baby. My dad was in Med school there. I have had New Haven pizza though and yum!

I didn’t know you were born in New Haven! Sally’s Pizza opened up a location in my city about 2 years ago and it’s a super popular restaurant!

I could imagine living in Connecticut! I like that it has a small-town feel. How easy is it to get out into nature?
I love that about Zurich – I start my run in the middle of the city and within minutes I’m out in the green and forests.

We don’t have too many hiking trails but we have lots of area that are nice for walking, including a few local parks.

I have been to CT a few times (Hartford, West Hartford, and Mystic). I love the small-town feelings! I agree that it is a benefit of being close to NYC.
kookyrunner says
Mystic is also so pretty!
