Happy Tuesday. Welcome to the first official Tuesday Topics post! As you may, or may not know, the very popular Tuesdays on the Run link up ended at the end of December. Zenaida and I hated to see the link up go, so we’ve revised it with a slight twist. Here are the rules for the Tuesday Topics link up!
1.) We’ll provide a weekly topic, but feel free to link to any running/fitness related post.
2.) Make sure to comment on both hostesses’ posts.
3.) Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier! Remember to come back for later linkers!
4.) Mention you are participating in this linkup and use the Tuesday Topics Linkup badge in your post.
5.) Provide a link back to each host as well.
6.) Most importantly, if you don’t play nice and are not able to follow the rules, your post will be deleted from the linkup. Thank you!
Join Zenaida and I every Tuesday for this new link up!
This week’s topic: What are you looking forward to this year?
I don’t know about you but I love the start of a new year. To me it just means a whole new year of experiences and opportunities. The start of 2019 was no different for me. I have a feeling that it’s going to be a great year and here are just a few of the things that I’m looking forward to in 2019.
If all goes well, this will be my redemption race. Most of you know I trained for 20 weeks for this marathon in 2017 and had an awful race day experience. It was miserable from start to finish and I don’t want that to be only memory of the Chicago Marathon since I love the city so much. This summer I am planning to go into training with a positive mindset and I’ll also be virtually training with Michelle and Renee since they are running it as well 🙂
Also, it looks like this year’s race is a week later in October (the 13th instead of the 6th) so maybe it won’t be as hot as the year that I ran it!
Starting Orange Theory Fitness
I’m so pumped to start taking classes with Orange Theory Fitness in March! This year I want to do more strength training and get stronger so I’m hoping that their classes will help with that. Also it will be an opportunity to meet new people and possible make more friends as well.
Getting back to reading
One of my 2019 goals is to get back into reading. When I was a kid I would literally read books all the time. I was in the bookstore or the library every week. Of course along the way things happen and new responsibilities pop up so I have a a stack of awesome books just waiting to be read. It’s my hope that I can get through most of them this year. I don’t have a goal to read x number of books this year, but I just want to be more consistent about it.

Marcia says
You’ve got some fun stuff coming up! I hope the weather in Chicago cooperates for you this year. I love the smell of redemption!
kookyrunner says
Me too! Right now I’m really trying to work on mental toughness because I know I’m gonna need it once marathon training starts!
Wendy says
Yay to continuing the link up! I don’t have a post this week but will start joining in once things settle down now that the holidays are finished. Man, that’s a long run on sentence!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Wendy! We look forward to you linking up with us 🙂
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I read a little every night before I go to sleep. It takes me a reeeeally long time to finish a book, usually, because after about 15 minutes I’m ready for sleep — even if I want to keep reading longer (and sometimes do anyway).
Thanks for creating the new linkup guys; I’ll get around to adding the graphic!
kookyrunner says
Sometimes I have the same issue with reading – it tends to make me sleepy, especially at night.
Thanks for joining our linkup Judy!
Renée says
yay! love the link up! wasn’t going to post again until Friday but this one was easy for me!
i can’t wait to see you and Michelle in Chicago this year! it’s going to be EPIC!
I really wish we had orange theory here… then again maybe not; I’m already going broke from all my fitness related training, classes, and memberships!
kookyrunner says
LOL I can relate to wait to said about going broke. Once I start OTF in March I’m going to really need to think if I still need my gym membership. Between OTF and the Peloton app, I think I should be good.
Thanks so much for linking up with us Renee!
Lesley says
I love reading. I’m currently on a slight break while I wait for new books to start releasing this year. Normally there are a couple series that get new books in January, but this year it’s pushed to March 🙁
kookyrunner says
I’m hoping that this year I can find my love of reading again!
Cari says
I love that you published the topics so far in advance. Huge help.
I was just talking about OTF with a colleague. Cannot wait for the one near me to open as I think it will be a great addition to my running sine I’m not good at strength training on my own.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much for linking up this week Cari – we really appreciate it!
When does your OTF open? Ours opens in March – not sure of the date but I hope it’s the beginning of March!
Cari says
Ours has been “opening soon” for a while, but they’ve stepped up their marketing so hoping it will truly be soon.
Darlene says
Glad that you took over the Tuesday link-up. I’m looking forward to that and following everyone’s Chicago TRAINING. FOMO.
I run and that’s it but I’m looking forward to new races this year. I’ve already registered for 6. (5 halfs and a 15k)
kookyrunner says
It’s always nice to run new races when possible, especially if they are in different locations. I always find it’s a great way to explore new places.
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
This is a fun new linkup! Looking forward to joining in tomorrow. You do have some fun races coming up this year. Have fun with OTF
kookyrunner says
We’re excited that you’ll be joining the linkup!
I’m really looking forward to OTF too!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Glad you decided to give Chicago another opportunity!! 🙂 I am looking forward to reading about your training. Hopefully you have better weather this year.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Zenaida! Fingers crossed for a good Chicago Marathon training and race!
Kimberly Hatting says
I spend SOOOO much time reading blogs, I barely have time to open a book (though I do read a devotion from the Bible most every night). I just do not know of a way to eek more reading time into my life…I know, BAD excuse! Thanks so much for carrying the torch with a Tuesday link-up!!
kookyrunner says
I was thinking of getting a devotional that I could either read every morning or night. I feel like that would be something so calming to do to either start or end the day!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Yay so glad you’re keeping the Tuesday link-up going! I’ll be sure to join in next week!
OTF opened recently near me and I’d love to check it out at some point – how to fit it all in!?!
So glad we’ll be able to train for Chicago virtually together!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! Please join us whenever you can 🙂
For OTF I signed up for the 8 classes a month plan. I figured I could squeeze in 2 classes a week – probably one during the week and one on the weekend.
Having virtual training partners this summer will be great – we can complain about the heat together lol
The Accidental Marathoner says
I’m so glad you and Zenaida are keeping up with the Tuesday linkup! You have some great thngs coming up. I’m so excited for Chicago! You will rock it this year!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Linda – we’re happy to carry on the torch too!
Can’t wait to see you in Chicago this Fall!
Beau Brinckerhoff says
Gah! How did I forget about this already! Well, I did have to work late last night, and then there was the Clemson game. 😉
Chicago is a huge thing to look forward to. You know I love Orange Theory — I hope you do too.
I’m looking forward to more cycling adventures — maybe a new Farm To Fork Fondo locale.
kookyrunner says
I think that I will love OTF too. I always love reading about the classes in your weekly wraps!
Vanessa Junkin says
Redemption races are great! I had a terrible run at a super hot race that I paced in 2017, but I came back in 2018 and it went soooo much better! I’m also hoping to read more this year. 🙂 I used to read so much as a kid!
kookyrunner says
I’m happy to hear your success story and hope that I’ll have a similar experience this year in Chicago!
Debbie says
Oh yay! I’m happy to see this new linkup. This sounds like a fun one. Good luck in your Chicago training. I’m sure this will be a better year for you!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Debbie!
Hannah says
I hope Chicago is awesome for you this year!
I read before bed most nights, but a couple years ago I would read while eating breakfast and I want to get back to doing that too.
kookyrunner says
My work hours are 7:30-4, which is great because I can often workout before dinner, but it doesn’t leave a lot of free time in the morning unfortunately 🙁
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Congrats to you and Zenaida on the new linkup! I will definitely participate 🙂
I think you’re going to have an amazing Chicago experience and I look forward to following your training! I’ve never done OrangeTheory but everyone seems to love it. I’ve really ramped up my reading these past few months and I’m loving it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Janelle! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a good and injury free training cycle for Chicago.
Jenn says
Awesome! I’ll have to start linking up next week!
Favorite gifts? Time with the family (hokey, but so true), a new laptop, luggage and a race entry. The laptop was a total surprise.
Can’t wait to hear what you think about Orange Theory.
kookyrunner says
That would be great – Thanks Jenn!
I’m really looking forward to OTF too 🙂
Annmarie says
Aaaah the Chicago Marathon – so jelly and so excited for you!!! I would love to run it someday!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Annmarie! You should enter the lottery for the race!
Jenny Albertson says
What a fun link up! I’m looking forward to some races. I feel like I’m going into this year a little bit unsure of what it’s going to hold but it will be fun to find out!
kookyrunner says
Sometimes that’s the best way to approach the year. If you don’t have too many things planned, you can be spontaneous!
Liz Dexter says
I’m planning to do more strength training this year, too, when I’ve got rid of this cough. And I have my ultra and a marathon before it but no plans for the second half of the year (hooray).
kookyrunner says
I hope you feel better soon Liz!
Karen says
I’m so glad to see this linkup still around! Thanks for taking the reigns! YAY for OTF in March! Super excited for you!
Karen says
*reins 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Karen!
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
I am just discovering this link-up, so will have to join in the future! I have a lot of things on deck for this year…first up a triathlon training camp next week!!
kookyrunner says
We just started it this Tuesday so you’re right on time!
Triathlon training camp sounds intense – good luck!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Congrats on your new linkup! I hope it very successful and I’l try to link up once in a while when I have time.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Debbie! We really appreciate it 🙂
Farrah says
I may have to pop into these linkups when I’m not doing a Travel Tuesday–sounds like fun! :]! I hope you have fun with the Orange Theory classes–I’ve heard good things!
kookyrunner says
That would be great! We’d love to have you join the linkup 🙂
