Happy Sunday! WHAT.A.WEEK! Honestly I didn’t know if I was coming or going most days this week. Work was really, really crazy cause I’m simultaneously juggling about 5 projects. At least 2 of these projects should wrap up in the next few weeks so that’s keeping me sane at the moment.
I was mentally drained every day this week which affected my workouts. Not every week can be fantastic and that’s okay. I still got in my long run on Saturday which was the most important workout for me this week.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, March 11
Spinning (45 minutes) + core work.
Daylight Savings hit me HARD on Monday. I felt like a zombie all day but luckily I was still able to get in a workout. I enjoyed a 30 min hip hop spin class + a 15 minute Groove spin class.
Tuesday, March 12
3 mile run + strength training (30 minutes).
I didn’t feel like running so I decided to do something different for this workout. My workout was run 1 mile, 10 mins of core, run 1 mile, 10 mins of arms/shoulders, run 1 mile and then 10 mins of legs/glutes. I really liked breaking up the workout like this and will probably do it again.
Wednesday, March 13
Rest Day. By Wednesday I was totally mentally drained. The best I could do was order Chinese food for dinner and drink a glass of wine. I needed a break.
Also, I survived the Facebook and Instagram outage of 2019 🙂
Thursday, March 14
3 mile run.
The weather was beautiful so I was able to get in an outside run after work.
Friday, March 15
Another Rest Day.
Saturday, March 16
8 mile run + core work.
I ran 5 miles before the Harbor Point Shamrock Stroll 5K for a total of 8 miles for the day. The race was more of a fun run (not timed) and it was okay but I probably wouldn’t do it again next year.
Sunday, March 17
Spinning (60 minutes) + core work.
It was nice to end the week with a good spin class.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 3 spinning classes and 1 strength training workout
Grade This Week – B
I usually take 1 rest day per week but this week I needed to take an extra rest day. I wasn’t sore or anything but just mentally I needed a break. I’m hoping that this week will be a little bit better. I had good amount of downtime over the weekend so I got some reading done and started watching season 3 of Queer Eye on Netflix. Spoiler alert – this season is so good!
Totally unrelated, but I saw this post on Instagram earlier in the week and I really liked it.
I feel like this is a good way to think about food and nutrition. We don’t have to be perfect, but just good 80% of the time.
That’s it for this week and I’m praying for a less crazy week ahead!
Did you have a good week?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I have been a believer in the 80/20 eating thing for a number of years and I think it is very realistic for me. That whole FB IG outage was stressful! I was also completely exhausted the first few days of the week. Funny how that happens bc of one hour. Glad you got your long run in this week!
kookyrunner says
I wish we could get rid of Daylight Savings time. It doesn’t really serve a purpose and makes everyone sleepy, lol.
I didn’t know about the FB/IG outage until mid-day on Wednesday but it was amazing how many people were literally freaking out over it!
Kimberly Hatting says
Ok, here’s another #KimTwin thing…my week at work was CrAzY, too. It’s been nutzo for the past three weeks, actually, but last week was mucho nutzo LOL I did alright with the time change on Monday, but by Friday I was counting the minutes to the weekend…and didn’t leave the office until well after 5 p.m. Oh well, it’s a good problem, right? I love those hoodies you and Mom are sporting for your race…so cute!
kookyrunner says
It’s a little scary how our weeks/days seem to sync up, lol. Sorry that work has been nuts for you too. Here’s hoping that things get a little easier for both of us soon!
My mom and I are actually wearing t-shirts, but we just put them over long sleeve shirts, lol. We got them from Old Navy (men’s section) about 2 years ago.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
My work started out just fine . . . let’s just say I got in way more rest than you. And I wasn’t even aware of the FB or IG outages until after the fact. There’s something to be said for being unplugged sometimes.
80/20 is always a great thing to strive for.
kookyrunner says
Definitely agree. I didn’t find out about the outage until the afternoon because I was at work, but it was funny to see people were flipping out over it. I kept wanting to say “it’s not that serious!” lol
Coco says
OMG, I was that muppet on Friday. I was so stressed I was shaking until I got some of my to-do list done. I was at a conference on Wednesday and completely missed the outage. 😉 I hope this week is calmer for both of us.
kookyrunner says
LoL I love this photo of the crazy muppet – always makes me laugh. Sorry to hear that your Friday was so stressful!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Thoughts – I have never seen Queer Eye! I really need to, right? I’m adding it to my queue. Also, I didn’t even know there was an outage on FB and IG! Well, now that I think about it, there was one day when IG wasn’t loading stuff properly, so I guess that was it. I must have been hard at work that day. Phew!
kookyrunner says
Definitely watch it – it’s such a good show. It’s heartwarming, funny and informative too.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Thank goodness the week is over! Daylight Savings Time did a number on us for sure. Hopefully this next week will be better.
I’ve heard of Queer Eye but have never seen it.
kookyrunner says
Definitely watch Queer Eye if you get the chance – it’s a great show.
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
My week was also a stress fest, but we got through it! I love your festive outfit for St. Patty’s Day! Hopefully this week is less busy for you
kookyrunner says
Sorry that you also had a crazy week. Here’s hoping that this week is much better for both of us!
The Accidental Marathoner says
I love the idea of breaking up your run like that! It definitely breaks up the monotony of it all. Sorry to hear you are so stressed at work. I am in a stressful job but we have been relatively slow for a while now, so work stress isn’t much of a factor for me these days.
kookyrunner says
Yes! I’m hoping that I can do that for some of my long runs this summer while training for the Chicago Marathon.
Allie says
I agree about the time change – it totally kicked my butt! I was dead by 2pm everyday last week but now I feel like I may finally be back on schedule. My fatigue definitely showed in my workouts so I did some mixing up too – breaking up a run is always a good idea 🙂 And I love your “I hate running” shirt – OMG too funny!!
kookyrunner says
Agreed! I feel like this week is already off to a better start, thank goodness!
Sandra D Laflamme says
Love that meme about the facebook outage. Too funny! I didn’t do a shamrock run. Maybe next year. Definitely a fun occasion to bust out the green clothes!
kookyrunner says
Right?! I’m all about any kind of race with a theme!
Black Knight says
Only one day of rest per week + a lot of work? You are the best!
The Harbor Point Shamrock Stroll 5K looks funny and full of colors even if it is not timed but … the official finishing time is …our Garmin’s one.
kookyrunner says
Thanks!
I also enjoyed seeing the sea of green for the Shamrock Stroll on Saturday
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I hear you on having a hectic work week. I had a lot of ups and downs with my project and was thrown in a bunch of different directions. Plus the DST was hard to adjust to!
Crazy thing is I totally missed the FB/IG outage…Wednesday, social media was the last thing on my mind! And I like that 3 mile workout – I may need to try that sometime!
kookyrunner says
I think DST messed with me for the first half of the week. Luckily this week is going much better so far!
Liz Dexter says
I like your mile run do some stuff, mile run do some stuff workout – might try that soon. Love Queer Eye- Tan is coming to our town with his book tour and I must get a ticket! We’re away at the moment so not sure if we can get netflis tho ….
kookyrunner says
I love Tan! I hope that you get to see him 🙂
Chaitali says
Sounds like a tough week and that the extra rest was much needed! I’m excited to start season 3 of Queer Eye, hoping to get to it this week 🙂
kookyrunner says
Let me know how you enjoy season 3 once you get to watch it!
Jenny Albertson says
I love the 80/20 rule and try to follow that pretty well. I feel like if we focus on fad diets and other things like that we aren’t really being healthy. Especially calling certain days or meals “cheat meals” because most people who do that end up over eating on those days.
kookyrunner says
Me too. Sometimes I fall short on the 80/20 goal – I’m a work in progress!
Marcia says
I swear I am STILL tired thanks to DST and staying up way too late…because it’s LIGHT! That 80/20 graphic is great food for thought. So simple when you think of it that way. Hope work settles down for you soon.
kookyrunner says
You probably had a combo of DST and jetlag!
Andrea Signor says
Last week was rough for me and didn’t get much fitness in. But I definitely needed the physical and mental rest. Glad to be going into spring and having a restart! I know the time change is rough, but I love having the “extra” light in the evenings.
kookyrunner says
Sometimes those extra rest days are absolutely necessary and much needed!
Renée says
I know those weeks Kim and it’s totally ok to take down time! We haven’t switched to DST yet! I wish we could just get on a global system with this stuff! I think we change on the last Sat/Sunday of the month. Which is good ’cause this girl will still be at home recovering and not likely have to go back to work until the TUESDAY after. (no excuses about being tired though if I’m “resting” all week…)
great idea to break of the run into a sort of HIIT workout. My trainer had me do that with my recumbent bike and kettlebells.
It’s good to do events sometimes to know you DON’T want to do it again. I swear I’m also off the Stevensloop (the 5K I did Sunday). I’ve done it now four times, different distances and I think I can check that one off the FOMO list.
I love the 80/20 “rule”. Good way to envision it.
hope you are having a better week!
kookyrunner says
I don’t see the point to DST. Did you know that Arizona doesn’t even do it? I feel like we all need to adopt that motto lol.
I hope that you are having a better week!
Jenn says
My week was the same as not knowing if I was coming or going. Ugh. I don’t love when that happens. Not at all.
However, it’s a great thing to be able to take a step back and say, ok, rest is good. Easier said than done, of course!
DST went ok over here. the darker mornings can be rough but we got it sorted out quickly and kept moving.
kookyrunner says
Exactly! I think that when things get that hectic we always need to take a step back and access the situation.
Smitha says
DST takes the worst out, especially when we lose an hour. And rest is always ok, erring on the side of needing more rest is always good. Hope this week turns out better.
kookyrunner says
Exactly! I’m okay with falling back for DST, but not springing forward, lol
Cari says
Oops, missed this post. Your last week is my this week. Knew it would be crazy. Hope yours passed.
I really like that 80/20
This week alas was more like 30/70 but I course corrected today
kookyrunner says
I hope that your busy week has now come to an end. It’s so hard to get everything done when the weeks are super busy.
San says
I totally agree with that post about flexible dieting. THIS is what sustainable eating looks like…. any other diet is only meant to be short term and usually can’t be sustained long term.
kookyrunner says
Yup! I couldn’t agree more and I’m really going to try to follow this more strictly, especially during the summer.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I like your hat! I just got a hat that says, “Bike Hair Don’t Care.” I decided I might need it for my upcoming rides and going out for lunch afterward. 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed your Shamrock Stroll even if you don’t think you’ll do it again. I did nothing for St. Paddy’s Day this year…
Your week sounds like mine – super busy with clients at work, overseeing my master bath remodel, and FOUR doctors appointments!
kookyrunner says
Love that you have a Bike Hair Don’t Care hat – that’s awesome!
Wow, sounds like you had a super busy week as well. Hope next week isn’t too crazy for you!
