Happy Sunday π Wow, what a week! Between having a busy work week, dealing with the allergies from hell and traveling to a race this weekend, I’m pooped! Sometimes I really wish that I had more hours in the day, or maybe an additional weekend day to get things done!
Before I move on, Congratulations to all the London Marathon runners today!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, April 22
Spinning (65 minutes)
Started off the week with a 20 minute tabata pop ride followed by an awesome 45 minute arms and intervals ride. Kicked my booty, that’s for sure!
Tuesday, April 23
4 mile run + Strength Training (30 minutes)
I’ve really been focusing on my upper body during my strength training and I’m absolutely loving it. Lifting really sparks joy for me π
Wednesday, April 24
Boot Camp (60 minutes)
I literally had no desire at all to do this class but I put on my big girl pants and got it done.
Thursday, April 25
4 mile run + Spinning (40 minutes)
I’m loving these hybrid workouts lately. Something about doing two different types of workouts helps the time fly by!

Friday, April 26
Spinning (45 minutes)
This was a hard workout. Fridays are usually my rest days, but I had to get in this ride since I had a race on Sunday. This tabata ride was really brutal because it was 20 seconds on / 10 seconds off for almost the entire ride. To compare, the other tabata spinning classes I have done had 40 seconds on / 20 seconds off intervals. Although hard, that’s more doable for me. Only having 10 seconds to recover in-between was damn near impossible, especially with so many sets. Oh well, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

Picked up this shirt from the Men’s section in Old Navy

Rest Day!
My mom and I traveled down to Wilmington, Delaware to run races on Sunday (5K for her, half marathon for me). We took Amtrak and it was easy peasy – just how I like it!

Ready to Run!
Sunday, April 28
Delaware Running Festival Half Marathon!
I completed my 40th half marathon and 12th state! I’ll have my race recap up on Tuesday π
Total Weekly Mileage: 21 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 4 spinning classes and 2 strength training workouts
Grade This Week β A
My allergies were OUT OF CONTROL this week. I must have looked like sh*t because even my manager was like “Are you feeling okay or just allergies?”. Then on Thursday morning I had to do an Instagram Live recording for Great Lakes Gelatin and I sounded horrible. That continued all day and I sounded like Kermit the Frog on all my conference calls – it was a mess. If I could take two Zyrtec pills a day I would – it was that bad. It’s still pretty bad even as I type this post but I hope that next week is better.
On Friday I completed week #2 of the Ride Tabata Training program. I’m halfway through the training and I can definitely see how these rides would make someone stronger. It’s no joke! Super intense and that’s just what I need in my life right now to mix things up.
Not related to running but can you believe that May starts next week?? Unbelievable! Although I will say that I’m looking forward to celebrating Cinco de Mayo next weekend in the comfort of my home, lol.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It
Tuesday Topics: New Gadgets to Try
Allergies were just fierce this week! I have had a sinus headache everyday. I also really love lifting and working on my upper body feels good doesn’t it? Can’t wait to hear about your race. Congrats again!
Same for me with the sinus headaches too π Hopefully the pollen and ragweed count will be lower this week.
Thanks – the race was hard, but went well – really nice course!
Well well well…I’ll be celebrating Cinco de Mayo as well this next weekend π #KimTwinning at its best! I’m excited to hear about your race in Delaware….glad to see Mom made the trip with you π I’m so impressed with all your spinning. You are a #badazzKim (because we really need a few more hashtags to celebrate our #Kimship, right?). Thanks for linking with us π
Haha lol π We can celebrate virtually with some margaritas!
Thanks! It was a short trip to Delaware but totally worth it.
The tree pollen has been brutal – sorry you had such a tough time this week. Congrats again on half #40 and state #12! Looking forward to reading your recap.
I literally want to punch pollen in the face, lol
Thanks for the congrats on the race!
40th half! Amazing π
April did seem really quick, didn’t it? I’m ready for May!
Thanks Jessie! I still can’t believe it. Hopefully I’ll hit 50 within the next year or so.
April went by quickly which means May will probably drag on, lol
Woof 45 minutes of tabata on a Friday! Kudos to you! And more kudos on your 40th half, that’s a big milestone!
Thanks Becca! Yes that was rough for a Friday, especially after work. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again lol.
40 Half Marathons is amazing! Congratulations!!!! Both of those tabata formats sound tough, but I can see how the 40:20 would be a bit more manageable. I bet YOU are getting stronger with all these workouts. π
Thanks so much Coco!
Those tabata spin classes are going to make me stronger. I’m not going through all of that craziness for nothing, LOL
I’m here to tell you that you can take 2 Zyrtecs–you’ll just be more tired than usual. But yes, you can.
Congrats on #40! I had NO idea you’ve run that many halfs! You’re amazing! And can we talk about how wonderful your mom it?
Ok, so what you just shared about Zyrtec may just change my life! #mindblown
Wow, congrats on your 40th half marathon! And congrats to your mom on the 5k. I like how your mom goes to races with you and runs. That reminds me of my mom ( although we’ve both been slowing down).
I am excited for May but a little hesitant too only because this year is going WAY too fast already! Can we please slow down????…lol
Thanks! I love it too and it’s always more fun to have a travel buddy when doing races in other states!
Wow! What a busy week fitness-wise for the week before a half! I hope you enjoyed the Wilmington race. I love running in Wilmington, and if the course is the one I think it is, I really enjoy running that race. I will be looking for a race recap!
Overall the race course was very pretty and we ran through Brandywine Park for some of it too.
Congrats on your 40th half!
Glad you enter races with your mom. Sometimes my son join me to too.
Seasonal allergies…. my same problem.
Thanks so much!
The season allergies are so bad this time of year. I’m still waiting to get some relief.
After trying Spinning Class last week and nearly dying, I have a new found respect for you!! How do you do it – that thing is lethal!! I swear I came to death so many times in that one hour!
As for your 40th Half Marathon!!!! That is just awesome! Well done lady – can’t wait to read the race recap. π
LOL!! Congrats on taking your first spinning class – I promise, it gets better and your butt will be less sore the more you do it π
I love your Mind over Matter tank. So cute. Congrats on your 40th Half marathon. That is quite an accomplishment!
Thanks so much Sandra.
I think everyone has bad allergies right now! I’m seeing so many people with sinus issues lately.
Spinning really is a great cross training workout. I knew someone who had PT issues in the final 6 weeks leading up to Tokyo marathon and he did nothing (like no running at all) except spin and cycling outside and he ended up with a damn good time and a PR!
Ugh! It’s taking me so much energy to get through the day when all I want to do is sleep – it’s pretty miserable π
That’s so interesting about the runner that just did spinning in the weeks leading up to Tokyo – amazing that he was still able to get a PR!
So I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this, but my husband now sees an acupuncturist for his allergy issues. It’s been very successful for him, since he wasn’t getting relief any other way.
Great job with your race! Love that you were able to take the train and enjoy a stress free commute!
Thank you for letting me know about the acupuncturist. That is something that I haven’t tried yet but will look into. I’m going on day 4 of feeling like absolute crap and nothing is working π
I hear you on the allergies! My eyes are really bad this year so I have huge puffy bags or dark circles all the time, horrible! I have sort of felt it easing the last couple of days, I’m allergic all through the season but particularly at certain times. Good strong work, though – well done!
Yup! I have huge bags under my eyes and I constantly look tired. The last couple days have been awful but I’m just trying to get through it. Hoping that it gets better this week!
Kermit the frog!!!! hahaha! sorry, I know it’s not funny. allergies suck.
you amaze me with how you just get it done. That last Tabata spin workout sounds, frankly speaking, horrible. hahaha! I also would likely have a hard time recovering in that short amount of time!
I am so glad May is nearly here. That much closer to running again…
Totally okay to laugh at my Kermit the Frog voice – I sure did!
I think I’m going to have to take this week off from the tabata training, I’m just not feeling it this week since allergies are kicking my ass
The plants * really* need to quit fornicating
Glad you had a fun weekend with your mom
Cinco de Mayo here: NYRR race and industry event. #PartyAnimal
My son was coughing a lot last week and someone mentioned it might be allergies because they are so bad right now. I didn’t know coughing was a thing with allergies. Luckily his cough has calmed down a lot so it’s not an issue. Hope yours get better!
I hope that your son feels better soon!
Yeah unfortunately coughing is part of allergies – I normally have a wheezing cough which is super annoying!
