Happy Sunday! How was your week? Mine was long and annoying and I’m glad that it’s over. I was SO looking forward to the weekend. I think I definitely need to take some days off soon before I reach burnout at work – ugh!
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, March 2
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes).
I enjoyed this class because we had a nice run/row block. I always like these because they keep my heart rate up and I get more practice on the rower. On the floor we had a nice section working with mini bands (hello booty burn) and then a bunch of different squats and lunges.
Tuesday, March 3
Rest Day.
I just needed a rest day. Work has been kicking my ass and my body felt super sore, especially my back and legs. This wasn’t planned but much needed.
Wednesday, March 4
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (60 minutes).
This workout was crazy! On the treadmill we had 3 blocks – one endurance, one power and one strength. This was odd because they don’t normally mix it up like that. Needless to say, my legs were toast by the end of the treadmill block and then I still had to complete the floor block with weights!
It was also my mom’s 100th class!
Thursday, March 5
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (60 minutes).
This class was ROUGH. I was still sore from class the night before, and you never want to be sore on an endurance day. I pushed through and did the best that I could do.
Friday, March 6
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes).
Luckily I didn’t feel as sore for this workout. I was even able to keep my base pace on the inclines and lift heavy on the floor so I was happy about both of those things.
Saturday, March 7
4 mile run.
The wind was the biggest factor during this run. I knew it was going to be pretty bad since the wind actually woke me up around 5am that morning. I was thankful for the 2 miles I ran with the wind at my back, but having to run the last 2 miles against the wind was pretty brutal!
Sunday, March 8
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (60 minutes).
This was supposed to be a 3G class but the class was small so it ended up being a 2G. I guess a lot of people didn’t want to take morning classes today since we lost an hour of sleep! We didn’t have too much rowing today which was a bummer, but we worked a lot on our legs during the floor block. The treadmill had a bunch of longer push paces which only tired out my legs more – ugh!
OTF was also running a promotion where you could bring in a friend for a free workout. It was part of their “23rd Hour” promotion for Daylight Savings Time. I brought my sister to class this morning π She enjoyed it but I don’t know if I’ll be able to bring her back, lol.
Total Weekly Mileage: 15.2 miles
Summary: 6 runs* and 5 OTF workouts
*I include running from my OTF workouts and stand alone runs as well.
Grade This Week β A
So it seems like the news of the week was about the Coronavirus.
Connecticut just got their first diagnosed case in Danbury, which is about 45 minutes from where I live. I wouldn’t say that I’m overly concerned about it, but I am taking all the right steps to hopefully prevent myself from getting it. I always wash my hands a lot during the day, especially during flu season, so that hasn’t changed. My job actually suspended all non-essential travel for employees and we’re not to book any travel or sign up for any conferences or events for the time being. Also we have 3 offices in China and all employees in those offices have been working from home for the past few weeks and won’t be allowed back to the offices until April. I really hope that this thing gets under control soon!
On another note, I was doing so well with avoiding junk food but my neighbor’s daughter was selling Girl Scout cookies so I had to purchase some. I have put them in a bag located on the top shelf of my pantry for the time being. Out of sigh, out of mind, right? We have our final weigh-ins for the OTF Transformation Challenge in a week so I’m trying to end the challenge strong!
I mentioned this in my March 2020 Goals blog post on Friday, but I’m working on getting more protein in my diet. I’m been trying to do this by eating more lean proteins and beans, with the occasional protein drinks/powders. I’m not a huge fan of protein drinks, powders or bars, but I’ve found a few that I like. I tried the Quest Vanilla Protein Drink on Thursday for breakfast and it was pretty tasty.
If you have any other recommendations on how to incorporate more protein into a diet, please let me know!
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Sounds like your going through a stressful time at work, sorry to hear that. Hope it will ease up soon.
Great OTF week once again! Congrats on resisting the cookies, haha! You donβt want to spoil your results so close to the end! π
I hope your sister will be inspired by you and your mum!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Catrina. Work has been stressful for the past few months. I kind of keep hoping for a little bit of downtime but it hasn’t happened yet, lol.
Deborah Brooks says
It is so hard to pass up the GS cookies! You and your mom totally crushed it this week! Sorry you are having some annoyances at work. I hope that calms down a bit for you this week. Thanks for linking up Kim and have a good week
kookyrunner says
So so hard! I really want to try the new lemon cookies but I’m going to wait until next week to do so.
Work has just been a whole lot of ups and downs and I’m hoping that things will even out soon.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Your mom is really tough! Go Mom!
I think I’m afraid to try OTF, because I can’t really afford to get hooked on it. π
The whole Coronavirus thing just seems way overblown. So many more people die from flu, and no one cancels events for THAT!
kookyrunner says
Right?! I’m so proud of her for hitting 100 classes – she’s such a rockstar.
I agree with you about coronavirus. Yes, it’s a bad thing but I just don’t think we need to be buying 10 packs fo hand sanitizer and toilet paper at Costco.
Wendy says
i love how your mom has embraced OTF along with you! Your sister, not so much? :p
I keep hoping this panic over COVID19 calms down. I don’t get all the cancellations. Just keep doing your thing…pick a fun song to wash your hands to!
kookyrunner says
LoL, well my sister and I are very different, especially when it comes to fitness. She doesn’t like to sweat, lol.
I have been washing my hands to “Happy Birthday”, lol. It seems to be going well. Now I just read that Connecticut has gone from 1-3 cases so it’s definitely making it’s way to the East Coast full blast – ugh!
Coco says
Congrats on holding strong for the duration of the OTF challenge β you sure have been logging a lot of classes. Great going on getting your sister there, and congrats again to your Mom! I thought Fridayβs class was tough!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! This is the last week on the transformation challenge so I’m going to finish strong and then probably drop back down to 4 classes a week. I say this now – let’s see if I actually do it, lol.
Friday was a really hard class but for some reason my body liked it better than Thursday’s class, lol.
Kimberly Hatting says
And another solid week for my #KimTwin! Great job on all your progress. Another round of applause goes to your mom π
kookyrunner says
That’s #kimtwin! I think I was more excited for my mom’s 100 vs my own lol.
Stephanie Mitchell says
Great week for you. Congrats to your mom too.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Stephanie!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Fantastic week Kim! And, huge congrats to your mom on her 100th! I’m impressed you got your sister to go π
Sorry about the work stress – I’m right there with you on this one and know if I don’t take a day off soon you all are going to be reading about me on the news! LOL! I hope things are quieter for you this week.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! I was shocked I was able to get her to go, now let’s see if she will go back lol.
Seems like we both need a little bit of a break from all the work crazies!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Hang in there with work. The first few days of the month are always my busiest and it’s like I forget that every month. I think I need to schedule a calendar reminder for myself to not plan on doing anything except work during the first few days. My niece sells girl scout cookies and we just got our yearly shipment in, I haven’t opened the samoas yet but it’s just a matter of time.
kookyrunner says
The Samoas are the best and I like to put the thin mints in the freezer because they are so good to eat cold!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Congrats on a great workout week! It was crazy windy here yesterday, too, but since I was stuck inside it was no big deal. My husband rode the spin bike instead of taking his bike outside, though.
I wasn’t aware that Quest now makes a protein drink. Thanks for the heads up!
kookyrunner says
I just found out about the Quest protein drinks when I was on the Target website – it was totally new to me too!
Jessie says
You’re a beast! So much OTF!
Those GS cookies are very tempting…I just starting a month long body comp challenge through the place I strength train and I am going to really have to use my willpower to resist the boxes of Thin Mints in the freezer π
Running in the wind is the worst! Great job sticking with it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! The GS cookies get me every year. Each year I say I’ll just give them a donation and not buy the cookies but once I see that sheet with all the cookies, my will power goes out the window, lol.
Liz Dexter says
I do protein via Quorn mycoprotein fake meat products and the cheese I get which is high protein, also skyr / Icelandic / Icelandic-style yoghurt which is high-protein.
We’ve just been on holiday and not only has my husband’s firm banned work travel (the day after he got back from a work trip!) but he now has to work from home for 14 days (but not self-isolate, thank goodness but also that’s not thought through, is it!?!). I’m a bit annoyed as I need to buy handwash for the bathroom but it will look like I’m panic-buying when it’s just I always use it anyway and have legitimately run out!
kookyrunner says
I like the Quorn patties – I often use those for my meatless monday meals. I have a feel that more companies are going to ask employees to stop traveling or to work from home for the next few weeks.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Hopefully thing settle down for you at work soon! Those look like some tough workouts at OTF. It’s been so windy lately and running into the wind is so hard! I agree I hope the virus gets under control soon.
kookyrunner says
I think the weather is supposed to be better this week – fingers crossed!
Marcia says
Sorry to hear you’re approaching burnout status at work. Thank heavens for the stress relief from OTF, right? Congrats to your mom!
My husband has a sales conference happening here this week and many employees and vendors have opted not to attend. I suspect this is going to be a tough week on the corona front.
Stay strong with those cookies!
kookyrunner says
Yes! OTF has helped me burn off some steam on the days I really just want to turn off my laptop and take a nap, lol.
I wonder if the sales conference will ultimately be cancelled since many people are opting not to go? Once SXSW was cancelled I knew the coronavirus was going to be a bigger problem that I had anticipated!
Cari says
I can easily pass on thin mints and other girl scout crack, but lemon ups and short bread are my downfalls.
That’s cool that you brought your sister. It’s a family affair for you
Coronavirus. Ugh. I think you know what I do. It’s going to be a rough year
kookyrunner says
I have never tried the lemon ups and I’m really looking forward to chowing down on them next week!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Congrats to your Mom! That is so cool. Our ALDI store had cookies that taste just like the peanut butter GS cookies. The ALDI cookies are so cheap! I cannot resist those π Great workouts this week!
kookyrunner says
I wish I had an Aldi supermarket nearby!
Chaitali says
Sorry it’s been so stressful lately π I hope that eases off soon. And congrats to your mom for her 100th OTF class! Hopefully your sister decides to keep joining you.
kookyrunner says
I’m trying to talk her into it!
RenΓ©e says
another smashing OTF week! well done!
you are so strong to get the cookies and put them away… i think I’d be toast with a box of samoas around!
my protein comes from chicken, veggies, soya beans, eggs, hummus, peanut butter, cottage cheese and I use a vegan pea-protein powder for after sport. I basically just try to add protein in any way I can to each meal. My salads are full of veg that is higher in protein. Though you are likely not going to reach your protein macro with a bunch of mushrooms π
kookyrunner says
Oh I’ve been thinking about the cookies every day since I put them away, lol.
Thanks for listing your protein sources! I eat many of those things but forgot that hummus has a good amount of protein too. Thanks for the reminder!
Jenn says
I’m sorry about the long and annoying week π And yes, your mom is an absolute beast! I love her smile and her accomplishment. I know you’re so proud of you.
Nothing new over here. Florida has a few confirmed cases and two deaths, so we are just watching and waiting. No word on closing schools down yet, but we will see what happens after spring break next week.
kookyrunner says
Florida sounds like CT. We have 3 cases but no deaths yet, thank goodness.
Hannah says
Seems like it was windy everywhere this weekend!
kookyrunner says
Agreed! It was a windy weekend.
Janice says
I’m totally inspired by your workouts this week! We have 4 confirmed cases in the region I work in, but none in the region I live in. I hope that they can slow the spread of this virus until they have a vaccination, my parents and my husband have poor immune systems. Have a great week!
kookyrunner says
I also hope that there will be a slow spread of the virus as well. My state now has 3 confirmed cases but there’s a county in New York that’s about 30 minutes from me and their cases are growing rapidly every day – it’s scary!
