Happy Sunday! I’m happy to report that this week was way more manageable than last week. I actually felt like I had time to breath this week which I’ll take as a huge win. My workouts were solid this week and with the exception of Monday, I felt energized for all of my workouts. I feel prepared for my first race coming up in 2 weeks.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, March 18
Spinning (60 mins).
Ugh – why are Mondays so hard?! It took everything in me to get this workout done after work. I took two 30 minute classes.
Tuesday, March 19
Run + Bodyweight (45 mins).
This was such a great class. Jess is one of my favorite Peloton instructors because of her energy and difficulty of her classes. For this class we did 30 minutes on the treadmill and then 15 minutes of just bodyweight exercises. I was able to get in about 3 miles during the treadmill portion and the bodyweight exercises were killer!
Wednesday, March 20
Boot Camp (60 mins).
Another great boot camp class. I was a little sore from Tuesday’s workout so I was very sore by the end of this class!
Also, happy first day of Spring! The below is how I welcomed the occasion. I don’t think we got above 50 degrees this week so Spring is definitely delayed, lol.
Thursday, March 21
4 mile run.
The run started off a little rocky but it ended well and that’s all that matters!
Friday, March 22
Rest Day!
Saturday, March 23
Spinning (60 mins).
Originally I planned to do my long run in the morning but the wind was fierce, and it was pretty cold. The weather looked better on Sunday so I decided to do my run then. So instead of my run, I took two 30 minute Peloton spinning classes to get my sweat on 🙂
Sunday, March 24
9 mile run.
Last long run before the Hot Chocolate 15K in 2 weeks! My legs and knees were a little achy after my run but that’s probably because this is the furthest distance I have run since December.
Total Weekly Mileage: 16 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 4 spinning classes and 2 strength training workouts
Grade This Week – B+
I started a new StepBet game on Monday so I’m making sure to get in all of my required steps everyday. Some days are easier than others but I enjoy the challenge, and anything to get me off my butt more during the day is important!
Since Wednesday was the first day of Spring it made me think of my Spring races. I have 4 races this Spring – Hot Chocolate 15K Philly (April 6), Delaware Half Marathon (April 28), Boston’s Run to Remember Half Marathon (May 26) and Hope in Motion 5K (June 2). I’m looking forward to kicking off my Spring racing season soon.
Peloton provided this great post on Instagram and I knew I wanted to repost it as soon as I saw it. Having the right mindset can really make or break a workout. Whenever I’m not really feeling a run or having a hard run, I try to always remember “You don’t have to, you get to”. I feel like that is such an important thing to remember. Having the ability to workout is a blessing and should be treated as such.
Next week’s workouts might be a little varied as I’m flying out to Eagan, MN this afternoon for a business trip and I’ll be there until Wednesday.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
Did you have a good week? Do you have any Spring races coming up?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Seriously you never know what season it is going to be and it often changes throughout the day! That boot camp sounds super hard and fun. Nice job on the 9 miler that always gives you a nice confidence boost. thanks for linking up
kookyrunner says
Haha exactly! March and April are the craziest months of the year when it comes to weather.
Coco says
You did so many great workouts at home with Peleton! I need to try their treadmill workouts some time. I hope you have a good business trip. MN sounds cold!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Minnesota is pretty much the same as back home so I’m glad it’s not colder here.
Kimberly Hatting says
Great week, Kim! As you know, that quote from Peloton is what it’s all about. Happy Spring, and thanks for joining us on the WRD 😉
kookyrunner says
Thanks Kim!
Renée says
excellent week Kim and I’m glad you had a bit more energy! I’m excited to see how your spring races turn out! I have a good feeling! your training and cross training has been amazing and STRONG!
I had a good week, unfortunately the blog is down / can’t be updated though – hopefully next week.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Renee! I hope that your blog is up and running again soon.
Marcia says
Great week for you! Glad to hear things settled down. Way to bang out 9. It’s always hard to get the miles back up there..for me anyway. Haha!
I had the Shamrocks Shuffle today and you know that little race coming up in London…
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia! MY legs were definitely feeling pretty sore after my run. It’s going to take a while for them to get used to the longer mileage.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Congrats on surviving the 9 miler!
I’m not sure why I get to run on the horrible days, but it was fine, really, because I barely ran & didn’t break a sweat (literally) then get to be in the car or inside the apartment at my parents on the nice days. Oh well, 91st & 93rd birthdays don’t come around for too many people — and my mother’s best friend just passed, so you have to celebrate while you can (she literally went to her funeral today).
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy! My legs are feeling a little sore right now so it’s going to take them a while to get used to that type of mileage.
angela @ happy fit mama says
I’m laughing at your comment about 50 degrees and it not being spring yet. We hit that today and it was like everyone came out of hibernation because spring is here! Lol! Nice week of workouts!
kookyrunner says
I guess that 50 degrees definitely can feel like Spring, especially after a super cold winter!
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
Congrats on the farthest distance since September! Things seem to be coming together at the right time for your race. I just had my first Spring race today and my next one is in two weeks.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Becca! Congrats on your first Spring race today.
Wendy says
Haha, I love that meme about looking about the window to see what season we’re doing..we’re going back to winter tomorrow. Hopefully only for one day! Gotta love spring!
I’ve got a 10 miler in a couple weeks and then a half in May. Trying to get excited for them…lol
kookyrunner says
That meme made me laugh so much last week, LOL. We’re going to be pretty steady between 40-50 degrees this week so at least it won’t be super cold.
Cari says
LOL re: looking out the window. So true. Although yesterday was deceptive since it was way windy. Glad you had a chance to breathe this week
kookyrunner says
Yes! Yesterday was just a weird weather day and the wind was ridiculous.
Chaitali says
Sounds like a good week overall! We had crazy wind on Saturday too. It was not fun. But I love that message about reframing how we thing about things and realize we don’t have to do them, we get to do them. That little switch really makes a big difference.
kookyrunner says
That wind was crazy on Saturday! I’m glad we don’t get weather like that often!
Darlene says
Spring? When? We had snow on Sat. At least it melted right away. But it is cold again today.
Congrats on the long run.
My quads are not adjusting to long runs yet.
It’s amazing how long it takes to build up endurance and how quickly it goes away.
kookyrunner says
Luckily we didnt get snow on Saturday! MY legs are still pretty sore from my long run – they need to get used to long distances again, lol
Chris Tiley says
Great work on this weeks training. I’m currently looking for a 10km or half marathon to do later in the spring.
kookyrunner says
Hope you’re able to find a great 10K race for this Spring!
Sandra D Laflamme says
We had fierce wind on Saturday too. I am so ready for spring to arrive for real in New Hampshire. It has been a tough and long winter. Nice job on your 9 miler on Sunday!
kookyrunner says
I totally agree with you on the Winter feeling long. Hopefully things turn around soon.
Jenn says
Our race season is coming to an end, so we have more in the 5k category right now. It just gets too hot for anything of major distance.
I need to start looking at the fall, though.
Great week in training, though! You did awesome! And I love those inspiring words from Peloton. So true.
kookyrunner says
Ahh that makes sense for Florida. I can see it getting way too hot to race pretty soon.
Allie says
Solid week!!! Nice work! And I hear you on Mondays because I am feeling it today…and not in a good way. And you are well on your way to a great 15k – feeling all of that 9 miler will only make you stronger 🙂 And I love that peloton post – what a great reminder!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Yeah, Mondays are just so rough for me and they never get easier, haha.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
That meme about the seasons cracked me up – so true, right? Great job with your long run Saturday! Can’t believe Hot Chocolate’s just 2 weeks away – time is flying! That post from Peloton is a great reminder. Thanks for sharing it!
kookyrunner says
That meme made me laugh quite a few times last week, LOL.
I also can’t believe that the Hot Chocolate race is less than 2 weeks away!
Jenny Albertson says
I’m loving the weather here lately. It’s finally warm enough to play outside/send kids outside!
kookyrunner says
That’s great that the weather is warm by you!
Hannah says
Great work with the 9 miler! The Hot Chocolate races sound fun, I want to run one sometime. I have a tentative spring race schedule but haven’t actually registered for any of them yet…they don’t fill up so there’s not really a point to signing up super early.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Hannah!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I have 2 races next month. That reminds me that I still need to sign up for one on April 13.
Glad to see you are doing another StepBet Challenge. Is it the same number of steps as your previous challenge?
kookyrunner says
Yeah, it’s around the same number of steps as previous games, which is great because it makes it easier to know what I need to hit everyday.
Liz Dexter says
A good week and I love all these classes, are they all at home with an app, though, I’ve got a bit confused!
I also REALLY like, “You don’t have to, you get to” – I’ve certainly had that attitude since my operation (non-running-related) laid me low for a bit in 2017.
kookyrunner says
Yup! Those classes are via app so they can be done anywhere, which is so convenient for me!
Esther says
Those memes about Monday/Friday and the weather are so SPOT on!
Looks like a great workout week lady!
Those bootcamp classes look hard! I feel sore for you!
Great work on your run! You are gearing up for a great 15k!
No races for me, focusing on healing my injured knee and hip!
kookyrunner says
Right?! I love that meme and I love the minions too, lol
