Happy Sunday! Anyone else in disbelief that November starts on Tuesday? I always say once we hit November, the year is pretty much over because the days just go by so quickly, especially with all of the holidays.
This week was hard, but also somewhat fun? Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, October 24
FKA twigs Walk 10/9/22 – Joslyn (30 minutes)
Glutes & Legs Strength 9/25/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Group Project (60 minutes)
Focus Flow: Hamstrings 10/25/21 – Kristin (10 minutes)
I learned a bit more about FKA twigs during the walk which is always a treat. I knew of her but didn’t know much about her backstory. OTF started off Hell Week with one “hell” of a workout! It was a fast-paced workout – we did a total of 12 switches. There was little to no rest since we were constantly moving. It was brutal. I did the hamstrings focused yoga class in the evening in hopes that it would help with some of the left tightness and soreness.
Tuesday, October 25
Babyface Walk + Run: GNO 10/21/22 – Kirsten (30 minutes)
Babyface Ride: GNO 10/21/22 – Ally (30 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – The Distance Directive (60 minutes)
Both of the Babyface classes were good. I’ve enjoyed his music – both as an artist and a producer for years. He also made a quick appearance right before each class which was pretty cool. It seems like this is a new trend with music artists using Peloton classes as a way to promote their new albums. So far Lizzo and T-Pain have both done this.
Today’s OTF class was hard, but not as bad as Monday. The endurance blocks on the treadmill with major inclines was the hardest part, but the rowing and the strength blocks were both manageable. I’m taking a break from OTF tomorrow, but will be back on Thursday. I’m very happy that I will not be attending class on Wednesday because I saw a sneak peak of the workout and it’s a doozy! I don’t think my legs could deal with it right now, lol.
Wednesday, October 26
R&B Run 10/16/22 – Jeffrey (30 minutes)
Black History Month Run 10/22/22 – Jermaine (30 minutes)
Cool Down Walk 7/18/22 – Jeffrey (5 minutes)
Chest & Back Strength 11/25/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Moulin Rouge Yoga Flow 9/21/22 – Kristin (30 minutes)
Surprisingly my legs felt much better when I woke up so I was able to get in a longer run in the morning. The R&B run was Jeffrey’s first run taught in English. I really enjoyed learning more about his backstory, especially his love and admiration for his mom. I dug into the archives for the upper body strength class with Jess. I actually enjoy a lot of the older classes (pre-2020).
Thursday, October 27
Hip Hop Bike Bootcamp 10/16/22 – Jess (30 minutes)
Walk + Run 9/22/22 – Jess (20 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Switch the Core Concept (60 minutes)
I haven’t done a bike bootcamp in a while and this one was really good! It featured music from black UK artists in honor of UK Black History Month. The walk + run class was just what I was looking for – 3 minute blocks of walking and running.
One complaint about OTF is that the classes don’t offer enough core work. Well I guess the template designers heard those complaints and designed a floor block to completely kill our cores. I know my abs will probably be sore for a few days.
Friday, October 28
Walk + Run 9/1/22 – Jess (15 minutes)
Our Future Selves Run 10/25/22 – Alex (20 minutes)
FKA twigs Ride 10/8/22 – Hannah F (30 minutes)
Orangetheory Fitness – Never Miss a Leg Day (60 minutes)
Black History Month Walk 10/21/22 – Joslyn (20 minutes)
I really enjoyed the Our Future Selves Run with Alex. I didn’t know much about his background so it was interesting to hear his struggles to fit in growing up and to learn more about his non-profit as well. I had to drop off a package at the post office so I did decided to listen to the BHM Walk while I ran that errand.
The OTF class was all about working our legs to fatigue and it was brutal. I pretty much hated the entire floor block because my legs were screaming at me the whole time. Then we had increasing inclines on the treadmill and a bunch of power rows. It was hard but a good way to close out the work week.
Saturday, October 29
Walk + Run 10/6/22 – Jess (15 minutes)
Halloween Walk + Run 10/29/22 – Matty (30 minutes)
Flash 15 7/9/21 – Jess (15 minutes)
Full Body Strength 1/9/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
Kenny Chesney Yoga Flow 9/28/22 – Denis (30 minutes)
I always look forward to Matty’s Halloween and Holiday classes because he always goes all out when it comes to costumes! This year he was a goblin which was a little unexpected as he normally does more “fun” costumes but it was still a good class. The Flash 15 class was crazy, but in a good way. I definitely needed to take a few emotional laps (as Adrian Williams calls them) around the room to catch my breathe during the short breaks.
Sunday, October 30
Halloween Ride 10/28/22 – Cody (30 minutes)
I had a whole stack of workouts planned for today but when I woke up my body was like “nope”. So instead of forcing anything, I slept in (which I haven’t done in months), made a cup of coffee and drank that while watching the news. It was sloe start to the morning but much needed. I had plans to do Cody’s Halloween ride at 10am with one of my friends from college. It was such a fun ride – and perfect to get in my movement for the day.
Summary:
Running – 19.7 miles
Cycle – 23.14 miles
Strength Training – 75 minutes
Orangetheory Fitness – 240 minutes
Peloton Artist Series Classes – 843/852
I survived Hell Week – hooray! Technically I have until Halloween to get the required amount of classes (you have to complete 4 out of 8 classes), but I wanted to finish early and enjoy my weekend, lol.
I will be back on Monday to celebrate Halloween and that’s still technically a Hell Week class so I’m sure it will be fun/brutal. I’m still debating between two options for my costume but I’ll figure that out tonight. One more fun note about Hell Week – my studio had the most members in the tai-state area sign up for Hell Week – hooray!
…and now for this week’s memes.
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I have a love/hate relationship with Hell Week, but I always feel super accomplished once it’s over!
Darlene Cardillo says
Congrats on surviving and finishing early. Can’t to see what you wear tomorrow.
You know that cat meme is so true.
Have a good week.
kookyrunner says
The cat memes this week made me laugh out loud.
Kimberly Hatting says
Nice week, #KimTwin!! That Hell Week tank was definitely well-earned! Congrats to your OTF friends for your win (over the other locations)…you’re a great bunch of a$$-kickers!
kookyrunner says
Thanks #KimTwin! I really do love my studio and the coaches.
Coco says
Congrats on surviving Hell Week — and going back for an extra class. That’s a cool t-shirt!
I am planing to take Matty’s class tomorrow, but I think it will freak me out to look at him the whole time! Is it weird to say a goblin mask looks so realistic?
kookyrunner says
When I woke up this morning I was like why am I doing this?! LoL. But there’s no way I could miss Halloween. Not a lot of the members dressed up today which was a bummer but at least all the coaches did!
Umm Matty did freak me out at first, but then after a minute I got used to it, lol.
Wendy says
Hell week looks so much fun and I think you know what I mean! Great job getting it done before the weekend. I love all the costumes!
kookyrunner says
I know exactly what you mean! It’s hard but so fun at the same time. Also everyone else is suffering too which makes you feel like you’re not alone haha
Jenny says
Hee hee… that spider meme. I’ll have to send it to my husband- I’m always making him “take the spider out” instead of killing it.
What an amazing week! It sound brutal- no wonder you slept in on Sunday. I love how you still got in your Peloton ride though. Have fun in your Halloween class tomorrow- I want to see pictures of your costume!
kookyrunner says
The week was brutal, I definitely cannot deny that, but it was also a lot of fun too!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Great job on killing it during another year of Hell Week! Can’t wait to see what costume you choose to wear to OTF tomorrow!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Debbie! Today I dressed up as a member of Run DMC 🙂
Michelle says
Congrats on surviving another Hell Week! Honestly, I don’t know how you did those workouts and your Peloton stacks! Great job!!
kookyrunner says
These workouts are insane but I oddly look forward to them every year. Up next should be 12 days of Fitmas which will also be kinda nuts too lol
Liz Dexter says
That first tabby cat is my tabby cat! Ha! If she had opposable thumbs she would be ruling the world and she definitely understands us …
Great work on the Hell Week stuff, and the outfits! I mustered Old Mother Time to be a timekeeper at parkrun on Saturday but that’s it for me! It’s funny how we have different Black History Months. We’ve been enjoying the TV programmes that suddenly reappear in October …
kookyrunner says
LOL! My friend said the same thing about that cat.
I also find it dd that the US and UK have different Black History Months, but I have been enjoying all of the BHM UK classes this year.
Jessie says
Great job this week!
I’ve been digging back to old Jess classes too…she’s so great!
kookyrunner says
Sometimes you’ll find a nicer Jess Sims in those 2019 classes but after that, it’s all crazy Jess lol.
Marcia says
Looks like you did have a fun week! I did Matty’s class as well and I couldn’t believe he could run in that mask!
Jenn says
Oh my gosh! Hell Week looks hellishly fun! I hope you had a challenging and awesome time!
Cari says
LOL Defrosting MAriah.
Congratulations on crushing Hell Week. Masked/fangs is awesome. Your Pennywise coach is wonderfully creepy.
You didn’t melt from doing KChes Yoga. Yay! 😀
