…and just like that, another week has come and gone and it’s time for another Weekly Wrap!
Monday, July 23
No workout.
The day started off pretty crappy. I woke up to an alert that someone tried to use my AMEX card to make a $1,000 purchase on BestBuy.com. I called them immediately (did I mention it was 4:00am?) to tell them it was a fraud charge and cancel the card. Then our flight back home was delayed by 2.5 hours. We specifically picked an earlier flight so that we would have most of the day free when we got home…that surely didn’t happen lol. Luckily the pilot and flight crew were awesome and kept us updated on the situation. When I got home I had two clean, do laundry, go grocery shopping, etc. Needless to say, a workout didn’t happen that day, but here’s a photo of all the medals from race weekend!
Tuesday, July 24
No workout.
No excuse here, just didn’t feel like doing anything after a crazy day at work.
I also have an update on my hand. I went to the doctor to get X-rays and see if they could tell me anything. The x-rays showed that everything was normal, but the doctor thinks that the IV could have irritated a tendon in my hand since I had some swelling in the area. He told me to take 2 Aleve everyday for 10 days and to also ice the area twice a day. I was hopeful that would help!
Wednesday, July 25
Speedwalk (30 minutes) / HIIT Spinning class (30 mins) / Leg workout (10 mins)
I really didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do so that’s why I skipped my normal weekly boot camp class. I decided to do a mix of things just so that I wouldn’t get bored!
Thursday, July 26
3 mile run + a quick upper body workout.
I enjoyed a nice and easy 3 mile run after work. I haven’t done an arm workout in a while so I added a quick 10 minute upper body workout after my run.
Sidenote – Who would really pick abs over pizza?!
Friday, July 27
No workout, but I did a lot re-organizing of item at my job and at home so maybe that counts for something?
Saturday, July 28
3 mile run (100% humidity – ugh)
Originally I wanted 5 miles. Then when I got outside I bargained with myself to do 4 miles. Then the humidity completely drained all my energy so I had to settle on 3 miles and a half mile cool down walk.
Sunday, July 29
Spinning (60 minutes)
I woke up early to do a class on the Peloton bike. It was with my favorite instructor (Robin), so of course it was a great class/sweatfest. I volunteered this morning at an event and I had to be there at 9:15am so I knew I wanted to get my workout done before that.
Total Weekly Mileage: 6 miles
Weekly Weight Loss: -1.2 pounds

Does anyone else get the post-race blues? After such an epic weekend in Chicago, it was hard for me to get back into the swing of things. It’s hard when you look forward to something for so long and then when it actually happens and it’s over, it’s kind of like – Now what? Hopefully we can plan another epic blogger/race weekend meet up soon. I really miss all the ladies!
My mom had an appointment with our ART doctor on Thursday. I didn’t have an appointment but tagged along, and I’m so happy that I did. We were talking to him about our weekend in Chicago (he’s also a runner/triathlete) and he asked me about the compression glove I was wearing on my hand. I explained the situation and he took a look at it. I don’t know how he did it, but whatever he did has helped so much! I’m no longer in pain when I have to carry something, turn a doorknob, etc. I’m so thankful for him and his expertise!
A few days ago I started thinking about the Fall races I have on my calendar. I have Rock ‘n’ Philadelphia 5K/Half Marathon in September and two more half marathons in October, so needless to say, it’s time to start getting back into a training routine. My training will be a little different this time. While I’m feeling almost back to 100% normal, internally my body is still recovering (when it comes to my red blood cells, etc) so I get tired easier. I’m really going to work on getting my endurance back to where it was so I may do more cross training vs running – it all depends on how my body responds to everything. I’m not going for a PR, so I’m sure that everything will be fine!
That’s it for this week – thanks for reading!
How was your week? Do you have any Fall races on the calendar yet?

Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
It’s so hard coming back from a weekend away! Thats frustrating that your hand is still bothering you but I’m glad the ART dr was able to help!
kookyrunner says
It really is! I was like now I have to go back to normal everyday life, lol
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
It’s so hard to come back from a busy weekend like that especially when your body is mending from a medical procedure! I think you had a great week!
What is ART? And I’m glad he was able to help!
I cannot believe race day is 11 weeks away for me. It seems like a long ways away but 11 weeks is SOON!
kookyrunner says
It really is! I so enjoyed meeting everyone and Chicago is one of my favorite cities – I wanted to stay there longer!
ART is active release therapy. When I go to my ART doctor I always get a chiropractic adjustment and then he also helps me with any “problem areas”, like the IT band, calf muscles, etc.
Sarah @ merrillthon says
Sometimes it feels like you need a vacation from your vacation! Great week of workouts this week. Your fall season sounds like so much fun! I briefly considered running RnR Philly as a tune-up for Chicago, but decided I’m already traveling too much this time of year and opted for a local tune-up instead. Glad your hand is feeling better and that you have an awesome ART doctor!
kookyrunner says
Haha that’s so true. I actually didn’t get a lot of sleep last weekend so I definitely tried to catch up on sleep once I was back home.
The past two years I’ve done RnR Philly as part of my long run when training for marathons but this year I’m just running for fun.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
That’s great that the chiro was able to help you! And man, that’s a lot of races for someone that’s still recovering.
Most of the time I have my a goal race scheduled before I run the next goal race, if you can follow that. It helps keep me motivated. π
I do have a Fall half on Cape Cod — it’s the AMR retreat so it should be a lot of fun!
kookyrunner says
Yikes – I am a little worried about having 3 halfs this Fall but hopefully my body will be okay with all the running lol.
Your Fall half on Cape Cod sounds like it’s going to be fun. I’ve never visited Cape Cod but hear it’s so pretty!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Bummer on the hand aching I did not realize that you were dealing with that. Abs are totally over rated-pizza not so much π
kookyrunner says
Yeah it was weird, kind of like a dull ache, but wearing the compression glove helped. I haven’t worn the glove in a few days and it’s still feeling good so I’m so happy to finally have some relief.
Kimberly Hatting says
Ummm, I’d pick pizza, any day.
I’m working on flights and logistics for Philly. My sis might be coming along (probably not running, though). I may have to just do the half on Sunday, depending on when we can arrive. I’m hoping to make it out there π We need a #KimReunion π
kookyrunner says
Yay! I really hope that you are able to come to Philly! I’m totally down for a #KimReunion π
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I absolutely get post race blues. After Peachtree, I don’t have another race on the schedule until November, so I was pretty bummed to go back to just training and no races. And I’m always looking forward to my next runcation!
I’m glad the doctor was able to fix your hand! It sucks when you have an odd injury and can’t figure out why its hurting. And I hope they catch the person who jacked your card! I hate those kind of people.
kookyrunner says
The post-race blues are hard, but I try to make sure it doesn’t last past a few days. I hate feeling like I’m in a funk!
They probably wont find the person that stole my credit card information but I’m just happy I caught it early and that they were able to flag the purchase as fraudulent.
Jessie says
UGH, frustrating start to the week (I HATE when that happens with my credit card, but it does amaze me how quickly companies seem to catch it, which is great) but it seems like the week came back around and you had some solid workouts! It seems like you’re feeling pretty well recovered from the bone marrow transfusion!
kookyrunner says
Totally frustrating but like you said, it’s great that companies catch it quickly and send alerts as well.
I’m feeling pretty good now since the surgery was about 5 weeks ago. Physically I feel fine which is awesome!
Lesley says
My cc was compromised the day after Thanksgiving a couple years ago. Thankfully we get those texts, and I called them immediately.
I got post-race blues really bad last year after the Bolder Boulder. It was the first time and I got it hard. I ended up signing up for Vegas earlier than I planned.
kookyrunner says
Oh that’s the worse – especially on Black Friday! These thieves are just so darn annoying.
Post race blues are so hard to deal with, but the best way to get over it is to train for another race so I totally understand why you signed up for RnR Las Vegas sooner than planned.
coco says
I have absolutely nothing on my fall calendar! Ack! I need to do something about that. I’m glad your hand is improving and hope it continues to get better quickly. You all sure did earn a lot of medals last weekend! So fun!
kookyrunner says
Let me know which Fall races you decide to run!
HoHo Runs says
I’m so glad your Mom’s doctor was able to improve your hand! It was so hard coming back home to reality this week. The only thing that kept me from getting serious post-race blues was having a couple of things on my August calendar that should be tons of fun. Currently, there are no races and no official training going on. Thanks for linking!
kookyrunner says
I was so happy too – it felt great to finally get some relief!
Wendy says
I totally feel you on the post-race blues! Thankfully, we had plans for our Wisconsin adventure later in the week. Otherwise, I would have been sad.
Would you consider coming back in September to run Zooma with Marcia and me? It’s in Lake Delavan Wisconsin and it’s going to be fun. We can get you a discounted race entry. I’d love it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks for the invite to the Zooma race but unfortunately it’s the same weekend as RnR Philly π
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
I thinking of Rock n Roll Philly as well. Not sure if it will work in my schedule yet. That’d be fun to meet up if it does!
kookyrunner says
I hope that RnR Philly works with your schedule. If it does, let me know!
AmyC says
I love a doctor like that. Anyone who takes a quick look and does a (successful) treatment on the side like that definitely has a big heart!! Glad it was helpful!
kookyrunner says
Right?! He’s the best. I’ve been going to him for 3 years and my mom has been seeing him the last year. He really knows his stuff and it helps that he is a crazy runner like us haha
Darlene says
I was hoping you’d come to Montreal. I want to meet you!
I have three fall half marathons on my schedule – Montreal in Sept, Paris in Oct and Pelham, NY in Nov.
Philly is on my list. I’ve done the Love Run (in the RAIN!!)
kookyrunner says
Wow thats awesome that you’ll be running a half in Paris – how exciting!
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
I definitely suffer from post race blues. That’s what lead me to do 5 marathons in a year once – yikes! What I’ve started to do is structure out my 3 weeks post race, planning in recovery time and recovery/strength exercises to do. That was I feel like I still have structure while I am figuring out my next move.
kookyrunner says
Whoa – 5 marathons in one year?! You’re amazing!!
I like how you tackle your schedule to deal with the post-race blues. I am going to try to do that.
Jenn says
I’m so glad you got some help on your hand! You must be so relieved!
I do get some post-race blue. It’s so fun to have a great racecation planned and executed and then what?
I am starting to shape up that fall calendar, and I’m getting excited. I haven’t officially registered for anything yet, but if it all works out it’s going to be pretty epic!
kookyrunner says
Yes, very relieved! It’s nice to go a day without pain in that hand.
Looking forward to see what you pick for your Fall races!
findingfabulousatfifty says
How awesome that your Mom’s ART doc was able to help your hand! It’s all about being in the right place at the right time! π
I know you’re anxious to get back in the swing of training, so just take it easy and remember what your body has been through …you’ll get there!
kookyrunner says
You’re so right – I would love to get back into the swing of normal training sooner vs later but I still have to take it slow. The run/walk method is working well for me right now, so I’m thankful for that.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I so had the post-race blues this past week. I still trying to figure out my fall and if Philly’s going to work out.
So glad your ART doc could help with your hand!
kookyrunner says
I am keeping my fingers that Philly works out for you. Kim said she is trying to see if she can come as well so it could be like a mini reunion lol
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Wow, that’s amazing (and wonderful) that the ART doctor was able to make your hand feel so much better! How lucky were you that you tagged along on your mom’s apt?
Sometimes it just a week to regroup after such a fun weekend to be able to focus on the next race ahead. You guys seemed to have so much fun! I’m having major runvy over here! π
kookyrunner says
Yes, he’s the best! I still don’t know exactly what he did but it feels so much better!
Hannah says
That sounds like a busy week! Good job getting the workouts in. And how nice of your doc to look at your hand at your mom’s appointment. Hope it continues to feel better.
kookyrunner says
Yes he’s a great doctor, very thankful he was able to fix the issue.
RenΓ©e @runlaugheatpie says
oh yes, I totally recognise post race blues!!! i think it was just such a “thing” for a while – training, looking forward to meeting everyone, traveling, doing the races. Once it’s over it’s like it never happened! Kind of like getting married hahahaha the wedding is over after a few hours, now I have to live with this person? hahaha. ok sorry. maybe not like a wedding π
One day I will do Philly. And then I will require you to do Philly again! Mark my words!
I must have missed what was going on with your hand. I’m glad you got some relief, whatever the ART doctor did!
kookyrunner says
So true! I need another epic blogger meet up to look forward too, lol. Whenever you want to do Philly again just let me know, it’s not that far from me at all so it’s a very affordable racecation for me!
Liz Dexter says
So glad he sorted your hand out – what a relief! And that’s a lot of halves in the autumn! I have a vague plan to make an attempt on a 26 mile bus route round our city, with people meeting up with me along the way to do sections with me. But I’m not sure – I ran 16 miles yesterday and am so tired from it.
Hope the humidity drops for you soon. We’ve had a respite from the heat since Saturday and it’s been amazing!
kookyrunner says
I love that idea! And it will be so fun if people can meet you at certain checkpoints!
Liz Dexter says
Thank you, I think I will still do it- it won’t be as darned hot then, after all!
vicki says
You had a great week! Glad to see you got some help with your hand… and your recovering nicely too.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Vicki!
The Accidental Marathoner says
I’m so sorry your Monday after the race was so crappy! We’ve had our credit card information stolen multiple times (even when we still had our cards in hand). It’s just amazing how brazen these thieves can be. Luckily the credit card companies stay on top of things. Looking forward to hear about your training for your fall races (and so glad to hear you found some pain relief with your hand!)
kookyrunner says
Exactly! I still had the card in my wallet so they must have stolen my information from a website. It’s so annoying!
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
I am having some post-ironman race blues now! I’m so happy to have one more tri at the end of August! I can’t wait to follow you in Philly!!!
kookyrunner says
Ugh the post-races blues are the worst, but congratulations on your ironman!
Shathiso says
I REALLY struggled with post-race blues after my Half Marathon. It was like my whole life was focused on that one race, and when it was all done and dusted, I felt so down and sad! So I know exactly how you feel. Luckily getting a new goal and registering for another race seemed to do the trick! Best of luck as you start training again!
kookyrunner says
yup, that’s exactly what happens. We put so much time and energy into training and then it’s just over!
