Happy Sunday! So this week it seems like summer was ready to make it’s appearance, even though technically it’s still Spring! It’s been hot and humid here this weekend. The weather reminded me why I’m not training for a Fall marathon this year – I just need a break from running in the heat! Is it really hot where you live?
Despite the heat, I had a good week of workouts (they were mainly all indoors, lol).
Monday, June 11
4 mile run.
I kicked off the week with a 4 mile run in my brand new Brooks sneakers! I missed out on buying these sneakers twice (they sold out) so I was excited to finally get them in my possession! They are special edition Brooks Launch 5 sneakers for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.
Tuesday, June 12
Stair Climber (10 minutes) + Body Works + Abs (45 minutes)
Another sweatfest! I did a quick warmup on the stair climber before going to class.
Wednesday, June 13
Boot Camp (60 minutes)
This class was HARD! My arms and legs were completely dead by the end of the class.
Thursday, June 14
3 mile run.
Okay, so this run was slow but at least I got it done. My mind was like “let’s run” and my legs were like “nah girl”. My legs were definitely still feeling the boot camp class from the previous night.
Friday, June 15
Rest Day!
I haven’t have a rest day in a while so I was more than ready for one!
Saturday, June 16
3 mile run.
I wanted 5 miles but my body stopped at 3. I did a 1.5 mile walk after the run so that I could still get in some miles.
Sunday, June 17
Body Works + Abs Class (45 mins)
Always great to start off the day with a bit of strength training. I also love this shirt that I found in Target yesterday. I’m convinced it was made especially for me!
Also Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome dads out there. My mom, sister and I took my dad out for brunch and I’m still full!

Happy Father’s Day Dad!
Total Weekly Mileage: 10
10,000 Steps per day: Complete
Weekly Weight Loss: 2.6
Grade This Week – A
Overall I’m happy with the week, especially the strength training, but I can’t figure out why my legs felt so fatigued during my Saturday run. I had a rest day on Friday so they should have felt fine but they felt super heavy. Hopefully this issue will pass soon so I can get in some long runs before the RnR Chicago Half Marathon – it’s 5 weeks away!
I’ve gotten in at least 10,000 steps per day every day in June and I’m hoping that I can keep that streak going for the rest of the month. Having this monthly goal makes me feel super accomplished. Sure, it’s harder to get in the steps on days I don’t run, but I’m finding creative ways to get in my steps on those days (I’ll do a blog post about this at a later date).
I’m still going strong with Weight Watchers and lost 2.6 pounds this week. I’m happy with that considering I started the week with a small weight gain. So far I’ve lost almost 10 pounds since starting the program on Memorial Day. I’ve been very diligent/strict with tracking my points and getting in my daily exercise so I am glad that I’m starting to see results. I feel like I may be able to drop 20 pounds total by the end of the summer!

Woo-hoo!
I’m leaving for New Orleans on Wednesday for a work conference and I’m super excited! It will be my first time visiting the city. I’ll be indoors all day for conference sessions, but I’m lookin forward to exploring the city at night. If you have any restaurant recommendations, please let me know!
Did you have a good week? Are you currently training for anything?
I’m linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap.
Have a great time in New Orleans! I was there once for a bachelorette party…Here’s the post I wrote, but it was quite awhile ago Hopefully you will be able to get out and explore a little bit! I was just in New York for work and felt like I spent the whole time working 🙁

Always impressed by your strong mix of strength and cardio! Great week 🙂
Thanks Jessie! I’m gonna check out your blog post on New Orleans so I can make sure I hit up some of those places 🙂
It’s definitely hard when you have to travel for work because you spend SO much time indoors :(, but I’m determined to make the most of my trip there.
There are so many great places to go in New Orleans! K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen is FANTASTIC. It was opened by Chef Paul Prudhomme (he used to be on Food Network a long time ago!). It’s a little upscale so reservations are wise but it wasn’t overly expensive. The food was extremely delicious! If you can sneak out for breakfast, I recommend the Ruby Slipper Cafe, too. 🙂
Your legs might feel heavy because of the increase in humidity. I know that’s been getting me, too. Ugh. So gross. You still had a great week, though!
Thanks so much for the NOLA recommendations! I’m going to try to do as much as possible when I’m there!
I think you’re right about my legs and the humidity – ugh!
I love that shirt too – the sleeve details are awesome. I think sometimes I get DOMS a day late — I’m sure it’s temporary. Love all your family pics!
Yes I love the sleeve detail too – so cute!
Wow you are doing such a great job with your weight watchers. I can really see so much of a difference in your photos. You look fabulous! Another fab week for you girl!
Awwe thanks so much! I really cant see the weight loss yet but I can feel it in my clothes so I’m happy about that!
Kinda excited for you to go to NOLA! We went years ago but haven’t been back since Katrina. I’m working on my husband. I want to run RnR there. We’ll see how convincing I can be!
Thanks Wendy! I’m thinking of doing RnR NOLA next year – maybe that should be our next blogger race?!
The heat is definitely on here too. I LOVE the color of those Brooks! Great job towards your Weight Watchers goal too. What a nice week for you, Kim
Thanks Becca! i’m so in love with those sneakers!
Looks like you had a great week of workouts, and nice work with Weight Watchers! I love those shoes too.
About New Orleans…where do I start, lol. It’s hard to go to NOLA without a stop at Cafe du Monde. Po’ boys: check out Parkway Bakery and/or the Famous Ferdi at Mother’s. Acme Oyster and Cafe Sbisa are good for a sit down dinner, and no trip to New Orleans would be complete without a hurricane or a Big Ass Beer on Bourbon. Hope you have a blast!
Thanks so much for all of your NOLA recommendations! i fly down tomorrow and leave on Friday afternoon so I’m going to try to hit up as many sights as possible.
Ten pounds since Memorial Day is phenomenal! Isn’t it scary that it’s not even officially summer yet and we are dealing with this heat? You’ll love NOLA, Jackson Square with its art/craft vendors is a cool place. The last time we were there, we took a carriage ride. It was very interesting to see the architecture and hear the ghost stories. Thanks for linking!
Thanks Holly! I actually changed the batteries in my scale to make sure the number was accurate. I dont really see a change yet but I feel it in my clothes.
I’m so sad that it’s already this hot and humid – you know I hate summer, lol
I’m going to be doing a carriage ride tomorrow night in NOLA – I’m so excited!
Kudos on the loss!
I feel you on creative steps, they’re a must
Definitely! You have to be creative especially if you have a desk job like me, lol
You’re doing great, with your workouts and your WW progress, and all those steps! We’ve pretty much had summer weather ever since winter ended (which wasn’t until the end of April LOL) The past couple of weeks have really been warm and humid.
Thanks so much Kim! I’m just trying to brace myself for all the heat and humidity this summer!
That’s awesome that you have gotten in 10,000 steps every day in June! I barely get any steps in on my rest days, especially if they fall on a Sunday. Congrats on the weight loss! My legs were sore for Saturday’s run too and I’m not sure why. Maybe the heat is affecting me more than I realize? Hope you have a great time in New Orleans!
I have definitely gotten creative to get in my steps each day!
Great week Kim! Wow 10 lbs is fantastic! Great work. RnRNOLA has been on my bucket list for eons. Air is always so pricey. Have fun and stay cool!
Thanks Marcia! I know I’ll probably gain a few pounds back when I’m in New Orleans at the end of this week lol.
I’ve never been to New Orleans, but my parents have. My dad had a conference, and my mom took a culinary walking tour of the French Quarter.
i’m planning on doing a tour on Wednesday night while I’m there.
Sometimes your legs just feel heavy for no reason…mine did on Sunday so I cut my long run short. I hated myself for doing it but I knew I wasn’t going to be able to continue on…
I always regret signing up for a fall marathon. One of these days I’ll switch to spring marathons. One of these days.
As far as New Orleans- get a muffaletta. It’s an amazing sandwich with tons of meat and cheese and its heavenly. They are created in NOLA so its really the only place you can get one authentically. And lots of places serve them. Also…beingnets. I don’t know how to spell it but they are delicious.
I do think that Fall marathons are a good thing because although you train in the heat, sometimes you are rewarded with cool weather on race day. I just knew that mentally I didn’t want to do another marathon training cycle this summer.
Thanks for the recommendations for New Orleans!
You’ve done such a great job with WW! You’ve seriously got me thinking I need to try them.
I’ve never been to New Orleans either and am dying to go! I hope you can sneak a little time to wander the city and soak it in.
Thanks Michelle! If you have any questions about Weight Watchers, just let me know. I’m definitely not an expert but I swear I learn something new about the program every day!
It’s going to be pretty hot there this week but I am going to try to get out for a lunch time walk and in the evenings as well.
Lucky you/! I went to NOLA years ago for a conference. Mow I want to go back and maybe even run a race there. Enjoy!
I’d love to run a race there in the winter when the weather is not as hot!
Love the new shoes! And it does sound like you had a great week, despite the fatigued legs. I think it happens sometimes, and will probably pass soon.
Nothing major on the calendar. I am looking for some fall and winter half marathons, so we will see what i find.
Thanks Jenn! i love bright colored sneakers so I just had to have these.
Yes I’m hoping the fatigued leg feeling passes soon.
You had a great week! Way to go! I need to get back to New Orleans. I went once for a wedding, but wasn’t there long enough!
Thanks Nicole! I really can’t wait for New Orleans!
Haha. I love your shirt! Seems like you had a great week. Always remember that the little things add up so even if you didn’t get all the miles you wanted, you are still progressing!
LoL thanks! Sometimes I can find really cute tops at Target when I least expect it.
Thanks for the words of encouragement!
Those shoes are so fun! I know heat + humidity always make my legs want to stop moving.
I really love those sneakers!
What a fantastic week, and congratulations on your weight loss! Your hard work is paying off! Enjoy New Orleans. We were there a few years ago. It was the first week in September and it was brutally hot and humid. Hopefully you will have better weather. We went to Emeril’s Restaurant and it was fantastic. He was even there dining just a few tables away from us!
Thanks so much! I’ll see if I can check out Emeril’s Restaurant when I’m in New Orleans this week. I just looked at the weather and it’s going to be in the 90s – hot, but not over 100 like I was expecting!
Looks like a great week of workouts! Congratulations on your success with Weight Watchers! That’s great!
Thanks so much Michelle!
Love those special edition Brooks Launch!! Sounds like a great week! Way to go on the weight loss with Weight Watchers! I’m training for my 3rd marathon in September and so far so good, although i hope i can keep up my training while on vacation.
Thanks! I love bright colors for sneakers so I am so in love with these sneakers!
I hope that you have a great vacation!
Those shoes are super cute!
Way to get in some great workouts this week!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks Esther!
Yay for new shoes, and being able to kick the week off by running in them. They’re super cute!
Thanks! I am glad that I also love the way they feel on my shorter runs.
Love the shirt! New Orleans is on my bucket list. Have fun!
It was on my bucket list too and I’m so happy I got to experience it for a few days. I’ll definitely be back!
hey Kim, maybe you were still fatigued from boot camp? it seems like a long time but it could be that it was just too much. When I went full force at bodypump a few weeks ago I was actually a wreck until Sunday and even then I didn’t do a long run! I just thought, no, it’s not happening!
congrats on the weight loss! you are doing so well!
(I’m sitting here right now in my “Those burpees were fun – said no one ever” tee shirt haha)
I guess the leg fatigue could come from boot camp but I feel like it never really bothered me before.
I’m really loving WW so far but i did go completely off the rails during my last night in New Orleans. I probably ate my weight in food and I really didn’t care, LOL. I’m sure I’ll see a weight gain for this week but it was well worth it!
LOL I love that you are wearing that shirt and wish I had one!
