Wow this is the last monthly goals post for 2018. I would say that I can’t believe it’s already December but that would be a lie. It really seems like this year went by so quickly, especially this Fall. Everything is pretty much a blur from September onward lol.
November was another busy month. I feel like the holidays really get started right after Halloween so there’s always a lot going on between work, training, holiday shopping, parties, etc.
Do you set monthly goals? I love doing these posts every month because it helps to hold me accountable, especially with my yearly goals. Sometimes it’s easy to get a little lazy with all of the day-to-day responsibilities that we have, but I always try to make my health a top priority.
First, let’s take a look at my goals from November:
Start using my training journal again
Grade: A+
I logged my workouts every day in the training journal! 🙂
Do 30 mins of activity daily
Grade: A+
Even on my rest days I still made sure to get in a 30 minute walk.
Practice gratitude daily
Grade: A+
This was such an awesome challenge to do. I think I may have missed posting 2 or 3 days on Instagram, but I still wrote my daily gratitude in my training journal daily.
Get back on track with my diet
Grade: C
Ugh, I really need to get back on the bandwagon when it comes to this. I haven’t gained any weight but I haven’t lost weight either. It’s so hard to do stay on track during the holidays!
Here are my goals for December!
Hit the 50 ride milestone on my Peloton bike
I’ve been using the bike more the past few months and really loving it. Currently I’m at 38 rides so I’m planning to do at least 3 rides a week so that I can hit my 50th ride on December 31!
Complete my two StepBet games
I have a little over a week to complete both games that I’m currently in – I’m in the homestretch! I love signing up for these games because they help to keep me accountable and make sure that I’m doing some sort of exercise daily. This is so important especially during the holidays when I tend to get a little bit lazy!
Look into a side hustle job
I have a full time job but I’m thinking of researching a job that I can do part time. I have a few ideas so far – Wag (dog walking app), working at a hotel (to get room discounts for racecations), retail (for clothing discounts), etc. Every now and then I do sell items on eBay which I put into my “vacation” fund, but it would be nice to have another steady source of income. If you have any ideas, please let me know!
Did you have a good November? If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for December?
I’m linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness.
Wendy says
December is a tough time for goals! Looks like you’ve got some that won’t be hard to achieve. I hope you find a fun side hustle!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Wendy. Hoping I can find something that will be beneficial but not take up too much time.
Laurie says
I love the idea of writing your gratitude in your fitness journal! That is a great way to remember to do it. I began a gratitude journal a few years ago with the intent of writing down 1000 things I am grateful for, I am at about 195 and stalled out. Maybe I should just do what you do. Thanks for the great idea!
kookyrunner says
No problem Laurie – glad I could help! Writing down the gratitude in my fitness journal was great. I did have a few days where it took me a bit longer to write something, but I always able to jot something down, even if it was small.

I love setting goals, I think everyone should always have them. Hitting them all isn’t the point for me, its a way to focus on something and have something to strive for. You have some great goals for the month. The holiday season is always hard for diet.
kookyrunner says
I totally agree. IT’s fine not to always hit goals but giving the effort is most important.
Fairytales and fitness says
Good for you for being so ambitious this time of year. I’ve totally been putting fitness on the back burner! -M
kookyrunner says
It can definitely feel like a chore to get in workouts during the holidays.
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
November and December are always tough with eating for me. I am usually pretty good with the workouts but the parties, alcohol and junk food are tough. I need to do one of those step bets!
kookyrunner says
Yup the food is really getting me this year – I have got to do better at saying no to all the delicious holiday sweets!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Maintaining your weight during the holidays is a definitely win & deserves way more than a C!
As to a side hustle, you seem so busy already . . . and do you really want to be walking dogs NOW? I don’t even want to walk my own dogs! Actually, not true, most of the time I’m grateful that I don’t become a hermit because of them. 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy – When you put it that way, you’re absolutely right. I just wish I could say no to all the delicious holiday treats!
Haha so true on walking dogs in the winter. Maybe I’ll re-visit that idea in the Spring.
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
It would be fun to walk dogs! I think depending where you work, you could make some cash waiting tables!
kookyrunner says
Yes! I love dogs so I thought WAG might be a good option.
Darlene says
I think you did great on your goals.
I don’t set any.
I just hope to keep running at least 3 times a week, eat healthy and stay injury-free.
I’d like to lose a few lbs but in December??? Hah.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Darlene. I’d also like to lose a few pounds in December but I know that’s clearly not going to happen, lol
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You did great with your November goals – maintaining weight as we get into the holiday season is a win in my book! I like keeping monthly goals too – which reminds me I guess I better get to posting mine, right?! LOL!
I love that you tracked your gratitude entries in your training journal!
kookyrunner says
Originally I wasn’t planning on tracking the gratitude in my training journal but I found it to be super helpful!
The Accidental Marathoner says
I don’t set monthly goals, but I think I probably should. I’ve been cleaning my closet and dresser drawers all day and I think I can make a full side-hustle out of selling the clothes I don’t wear. I can’t admit how much running clothes I have with tags still on them. I am seriously thinking of having a sale on my FB page to raise funds for my London charity!
kookyrunner says
You’d be surprised on how much you can make selling items on eBay or Poshmark, especially if the clothing is new with tags! I think that’s a super smart idea to have a sale on FB.
Marcia says
You are slaying! Especially on that Peloton bike! This time of year is brutal for eating well. I don’t have goals for December but I’ve already got ideas for 2019.
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
These are all great goals! I say that I am going to do monthly goals, but just never do…that might be a New Year’s Resolution for me!!
kookyrunner says
That would be a great new year’s resolution!
Farrah says
I need to start logging my workouts again too! Great job on your goals and best of luck to you on this month’s!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Farrah!
Cari says
My goal weight wise is to be the same or less than what I was on 11/21. I did that last year as well and I think it’s manageable.
I’m not sure how stressful your full time job is – but the poeple aspect of hotels & stores can be a lot some days
kookyrunner says
That’s very true about hotels and retail. I really need to give that some more thought and pick something that won’t cause added stress as I have enough of that at work, lol.
Liz Dexter says
Great work on your goals! Side hustles have a habit of taking over, though … !
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! Yeah I totally get what you’re saying about the side hustle. I need to make sure I pick a good one!
Esther says
I love the goals you set for December! It can be more challenging to set goals in Dec with all that is going on with the holidays!
Try to stay gracious with yourself 🙂
You have been rocking this year lady!
Cheers to the last month! 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Esther. I’m hoping to end the year on a high note 🙂
