Happy Friday! As usual, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions. Let’s get this party started!
I runfess that I’m looking forward to my staycation in July
Although I’m not traveling anywhere anytime soon, I didn’t want to wait until the Fall/Winter to use up all my vacation time (we have to use up our vacation days by Dec 31). I decided to take off the week of July 6th to use up a few days. Do I have any grand plans? Absolutely not, but it will be nice to have the week off from work and the ability to just truly relax. I feel like I’ve had so much anxiety since March so having a week off should help…hopefully?
I runfess that I REALLY want go out to eat at a restaurant
For the most part we’ve been cooking at home but we have been ordering takeout 1-2 times a week to support the local restaurants. In Connecticut we’ve been able to do outdoor seating at restaurants for a few weeks and they just lifted some of the restrictions on indoor dining. I think I’m ready to try outdoor dining, if the tables are spaced at least 6 feet apart. I’m going to take a drive downtown to see what it looks like. I’m trying to be logical and use the COVID data for my county (which shows very small numbers and a huge decrease) but I’m still nervous about it. I think just knowing that my county made up 1/3 of the cases in the state will always give me anxiety. I wonder if I’ll get to a point where I’m NOT nervous about doing normal things?! I sure hope so!
I runfess that I’m loving Apple’s new upgrades!
On Monday, Apple announced their upgrades to many of their products, including the Apple Watch. I am definitely NOT a huge tech person, but I really do love my Apple watch because it provides a good amount of data. I love that one of the upgrades will include tracking sleep patterns and new alarms. They also made some updates to the workout features on the watch as well.
I runfess that I hate Summer more each year
If you’ve known me for any amount of time you know how much I dread Summer. It’s hot and miserable, there’s too many bugs, my allergies flare up like crazy and I sweat in places no one ever should. It’s just a very uncomfortable season for me, lol. This week we’ve had nothing but HOT, and sometimes humid, weather and I’m already over it and it’s not even July yet. I think every year I hate this season more and more. I know that it’s super odd that I dislike Summer so much but I’ve been like this since childhood. I guess this is how people feel about the cold and snow? Anyways, around now is when I start my countdown to Fall…
I runfess that I’m looking forward to trying out the Buff Pack Run Cap
As a BibRave Pro, I get to test out a few products a year. The newest product I’ll be trying out is the Buff Pack Run Cap. I have a few Buff items and love them all, so of course I jumped at the chance to try out this new product. It’s super lightweight so I’m looking forward to wearing it on my outdoor walks/runs this summer. I’ll do a full review on it next month!
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions! I hope that you have a great weekend!
I’m also linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.
Do you have anything you want to runfess for June?
Darlene says
Love that meme.
I am going out to dinner tonight. Outdoors. Better than nothing.
Love my Apple Watch. Though I need to explore more of its features.
I also love summer. If we have to have a pandemic I’m glad it’s not during any other season
kookyrunner says
I also need to explore more of the Apple watch features – I feel like I only know the basics right now.
Enjoy dinner tonight!
fairytales and fitness says
Your comment about summer made me laugh because I didn’t think anyone hated summer but your reasons are totally legit! It has been a hot one so far and my neighbor said she read online ( not that everything you read online is true) that this was going to be the hottest summer to date! We shall see.
Enjoy your time off work, I hope you get to relax and stay cool!
kookyrunner says
LoL, I know I’m a weirdo but there’s just nothing about Summer that appeals to me. I think it’s probably more the humidity than anything else.
Thanks! I’m planning to enjoy a lot of Netflix while on staycation in July, lol
Deborah Brooks says
That run pack hat looks interesting! Yeah I hear you on the restaurants. I am not ready to eat indoors even though we are not allowed to. My daughter and I are having brunch w another mother/daughter tomorrow outside. Should be nice except for the fact that it is going to be 95!
kookyrunner says
Yeah the hat is super lightweight so it’s great – perfect for summer walking/running!
Enjoy Brunch tomorrow – can’t wait to hear how it goes for you, and hopefully the weather people are wrong and it won’t be that hot (fingers crossed)
Wendy says
Your memes are hilarious! A year ago, I would have been all over a staycation. But now that I’ve been home so much, I need to bust out! And yeah, summer running, not so much.
kookyrunner says
I know exactly how you feel. I would really, really love to get away from my house but anywhere I want to visit requires a plane ride lol.
Coco says
Hah, that summer meme is so me! I’m ready to eat outside if the tables are …. 10 feet apart? I’ve seen tables supposedly spaced 6 ft apart and it looks too close when people are sitting in the chairs back-to-back. The bigger issue I have is tables being too close to the sidewalk. I need a place on a patio or deck, preferably overlooking the ocean …. now that sounds nice!
I’m so glad you’re taking time off. You did have a stressful start to the year. My workload is slowing down b/c my European clients are on vacation.
kookyrunner says
I agree – a patio or deck would be ideal! Maybe I need to look for restaurants that have one of those. I agree with the seating not being near the sidewalks because that totally defeats the purpose of social distancing.
Catrina says
I understand your anxiety! Our numbers are very low but for now I’m sticking to an outdoor setting when seeing friends and going to restaurants. 😊
kookyrunner says
I hope I get to the point where I can enjoy a nice restaurant meal outside – I miss it!
Denise @runheartfit says
We’ve been out to eat a few times. They’ve been good about maintaining social distancing and cleaning.
I love summer but we don’t have the humidity or bugs that you do.
Enjoy your staycation Kim!
kookyrunner says
That’s great that the restaurants near you are being good about following the guidelines and procedures. I’m hopeful that maybe I will enjoy outdoor dining at some point next month.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I actually “ran” across the Buff run cap while searching for “cooling running hat”. I do like their products, usually.
I think we’ll probably continue to just do takeout once a week for the forseeable future. I am trying to encourage Mr. Judy to take a short road trip in the near future. With the dogs. That usually works, LOL!
I like summer when the humidity is low and it’s about 80. Because I love to swim. Only I have nowhere to swim! Still, having lived in TX, that forever changed my view of what is & isn’t humid.
kookyrunner says
Same here – I have a few of their neck gaiters and winter hats and I love both products. The hat is super lightweight – I’ve used it for a few walks so far and I almost forgot I was wearing it.
I hope that you are able to take the short road trip! I feel like everyone needs a change of scenery at some point since we’ve been staying at home for almost 4 months!
Kimberly Hatting says
As much as #WeBeTwinning, we are polar opposites on summer LOL I still like you, though 😉 The humidity really is tough, I totally get that. It doesn’t seem to affect me like it does others (or it doesn’t affect me as much? or I’m just so glad it isn’t SNOWING, that i don’t notice it?). I just wish our Iowa winters weren’t so brutal….
kookyrunner says
LOL I know 🙂 The humidity is my kryptonite and it sucks all of the energy out of my body.
This past Winter was really mild here and we only had 1 bad snowstorm – it was very strange, but I guess that was foreshadowing the theme for 2020, lol
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Here’s the thing, I LOVE SUMMER…for everything except running. It’s just so miserable and TBH I’m wondering if it’s even worth it to try to adapt to the heat this year since I won’t be running any hot races. If I could have an alternate universe where it would be 50 degrees in the mornings when I run and 70-80 at all other times I’d be good.
kookyrunner says
If Summer weather was a consistent 70 degrees with no humidity, I would like it lol
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I hope you enjoy your staycation! Don’t sign onto your laptop!
I am so glad my allergies have gotten better. They were so bad for awhile there. Hope yours improve too!
kookyrunner says
Don’t worry – I won’t be logging on to check email at all during my staycation! I really need a complete break from everything and I’m looking forward to it!
Marcia says
We did patio dining for Thing 1’s birthday for the first time last night. It was SO nice to be out! That said indoor dining opened today in Chicago. Not sure I’m ready for that. Enjoy that staycation!
kookyrunner says
I bet it was so nice to be out of the house and enjoying a meal – that’s one thing I really do miss. It’s something so small but you don’t realize how much you’ve taken it for granted until it’s gone.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Sounds like some nice upgrades on the Apple Watch – do you use your watch to run too?
I love that vacation meme 🙂 Great to hear you’re taking some time off!
I’m 100% with you on that summer meme – I’m trying hard not to whine but I’m already so over this humidity!
kookyrunner says
Yup, I use my Apple watch for my runs now instead of my Garmin. It’s nice that I can use just one thing to track all my workouts.
Oh the humidity this week was so oppressive – yuck!
Chaitali says
We’ve been sticking with delivery and take out too. The numbers in our county are going down but I’ve seen the people eating on patios and it doesn’t look like people are maintaining social distance 🙁
kookyrunner says
Same here. I took a drive downtown this weekend and the outdoor seating at the restaurants were all packed! It didn’t look like some of the tables were 6 feet apart either 🙁
San says
A staycation is definitely a great idea. I just took a few days off last week and even though we didn’t go anywhere, it was just nice to hang out in the backyard and relax for a few days.
I am still weary about going out to eat although we do itch to go to a restaurant… for now, we’ll stick to takeout, esp. with the numbers rising here in CA 🙁
kookyrunner says
I’m weary about eating inside restaurants right now. I saw that the numbers were rising again in California 🙁 I hope that the numbers go down again soon – it seemed like California was doing really well for a while so hopefully they can get back to that.
Cari says
Back sweat must die.
I’d be OK if summer existed in the shade with a breeze at all times. I really miss work’s central air.
I’ve been OK eating otu, but we won’t have indoor dining for who knows how long, and I’m with you on takeout to support the local places
Very curious what the office does with our PTO
kookyrunner says
Yes! I’m happy with low humidity and shade – both of which seem to be missing this summer, lol. I actually just found out that we do have indoor dining available here in CT but no one seems to be comfortable with that so they are staying outdoors.
