Happy Friday! As usual, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions. Let’s get this party started!
I runfess that I’m indifferent about Power Zones training
I’m finishing up the power zones training program this week. While I certainly understand the meaning behind power zones training and how it can help you become stronger on the bike, I don’t necessarily think it’s for me. While I’ll still do power zones classes every now and then, I would much rather take more of the normal cycle classes. I’m huge on music powering me through a workout and I haven’t had that too much in these classes. Also, only 4 instructors teach the power zones classes and while they are all great instructors and super knowledgable about power zones training, I just vibe better with my favorite instructors (Cody, Kendall, Robin and Alex). I think I’ll still do a power zone class a few times a month, but doing them 4 times a week is definitely not for me.
I runfess that I’m so excited for Fall running
I haven’t really done any distance running this year, but I’m signed up for a virtual 10k and half marathon next month so I’ll be logging a lot more miles in October. If the weather last week and this week is any indication of the weather we will experience this Fall, then it’s going to make for perfect running weather!
I runfess that I love Get Organized with The Home Edit on Netflix
I love anything to do with organization so Get Organized with The Home Edit is the perfect show for me, lol. I really love the way they categorize items, especially by color. It has given me tons of ideas for how I’d like to organize things when I have my own house one day. I’ve also noticed that I like to watch a few episodes of shows like this because it gives me something else to focus on while the world seems to be falling apart more and more each week.
I runfess that I’m nervous for the Orangetheory Dri Tri tomorrow
This will be my second Dri Tri so I know exactly what to expect, but I’m still super nervous about it. It’s going to be outside, so thankfully I won’t have to wear a mask, but I’m still dealing with a sore wrist so I’m going to have to modify the push-ups and burpees when I get to the bodyweight exercises section. Originally I was hoping to beat my time from last year but I’m really just be happy to finish. Wish me luck!

Photo from my last Dri Tri last September
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions! I hope that you have a great weekend!
I’m also linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.
Do you have anything you want to runfess for September?
I’m pretty sure power zones would not be for me. I don’t even do heart rate running.
Good luck with your longer virtual races. I’ve been trying to stay at 10 on the weekends until my back injury. I am running slow intervals which helped greatly.
Not sure how or if I can get faster.
I’ve never done heart rate training either. Yeah, I’m going to do run/walk intervals for my virtual half. I’m not racing for time so at least there’s no pressure.
All the best with the Dri Tri! That’s great they’re having it outside. I’m so checking out that Home Edit show! I LOVE shows like that and we’ve been needing something new to watch. I was hopeful the Kon Marie show would be good but I dropped it after just one episode.
I enjoyed the Home Edit show more than the Kon Marie show – I find a lot of the advice to be more attainable.
Good luck with your Dri Tri! Be mindful of that wrist, though.
I was wishing we still had last week’s weather for my virtual 10k yesterday. It wasn’t bad weather but not as nice as the previous week! Although I don’t mind the short return of warmth, either, we’ll be complaining about the cold soon enough. 🙂
Thanks Judy! I spoke with one of my coaches and she gave me some alternatives so I think my wrist should be okay (fingers crossed)!
In the challenging times (so cliche, but so true) fitness needs to be fun and something you look forward to. If PZ isn’t that, there’s no reason to push through it. I’m enjoying fall running weather too. It just feels so good!
Good luck with the DryTri. Hope your wrist cooperates.
Totally agree Coco. I really wanted to love PZ but I just never really go into it.
Thanks for the well wishes on the Dri Tri! 🙂
I am also not loving the power zone classes. Not even sure I want to finish the last week. I like the freedom of the other classes. The dry tri sounds fun look forward to reading about it! Marie Kondo made me too nervous but I am going to check out Get Organized it looks more fun thanks!
I’m going to do a 45 minute PZ ride this afternoon and then I’ll do my ending FTP test on Monday, and then I’m done. I wanted to finish the program to see if my feelings would change but sadly they didn’t.
Check out the Home Edit show – I think you’ll like it!
Sorry the Power Zones didn’t turn out the way you’d hoped. If you’re not enjoying it, then there’s really no point to trudging through it, right?
I love organization things so I will definitely check out that show!
Best of luck with your Dri Tri – I know you’re going to do great!!
You’re right – I think I’m just surprised that I didn’t like it more since a lot of peloton riders seem to enjoy those type of classes.
Oooh, the Home Edit show will be sometime check out. Thanks for the suggestion!! The dry tri sounds tough!ill be thinking of you tomorrow…I’ll probably be on my bike (big surprise, right?). I’m glad you have your favorite weather to enjoy now… happy running !!
Yup I think you will really enjoy the Home Edit show! I actually followed them on Instagram too so I can still get all of their tips 🙂
You’ve got this for the OT Dri Tri! But i runfess that I’ll be running a virtual half tomorrow morning, not sure if it will be the same time as your Tri but I am very nervous so it helps me to hear about pre-race nerves. Fall running is going to be awesome, and I think you’ll really enjoy the virtual racing.
We will probably be working out around the same time tomorrow morning – I’ll be sure to send you positive vibes!!
Goodluck on your Dri Tri! I am looking forward to cooler temps as well. But it’s hard to get use to being chilly at the start of your runs lately.
Thanks! The Dri Tri went better than expected so I was very happy about that!
I have never heard of a dry tri before, but it sounds interesting! Good luck tomorrow. I am looking forward to fall running too. For me, it means I don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn before it gets too hot to run. I can fit my run in whenever I feel like it.
Thanks for the well wishes – the event went really well yesterday!
Good luck tomorrow! You got this!
Thanks! The Dri Tri event went really well!
Fall running is the best! Its a good time of year to run some more miles and do some virtual races. Good luck in your Dri Tri!
I will definitely miss all of the races this Fall but thankful I can still run outside and enjoy the cooler weather!
Oh, good luck with your dri tri – I assume that’s happening now so good wishes for it. And thanks for the honest review of these new classes, I’m definitely all about the music for these things but it’s always good to learn from others’ experiences. Hope the wrist continues to improve.
Thanks! The Dri Tri event went even better than expected so I was super happy about that!
I hope your Dry Tri was amazing!
Now that I am running again, it feels like I don’t have too many runfessions. Just waiting for cooler weather and seeing if I can get to half marathon shape in time for a virtual race in just over a month!
Thanks Jenn! The dri tri went pretty well and it was great that it was held outside.
I should look into that show. BUt really I just need to throw out all the things. It’s crazy how many of these shows assume you have houses. Yes, plural.
Congrats on a successful Dry Tri
lol that’s so true – I wish that they would show organization for smaller spaces, like apartments.
