Happy Friday! Well we made it through another week – congratulations π I’ll be honest that I haven’t given much thought to my goals for June. I feel like May kinda flew by and then earlier this week I realized that I never made any June goals..oops! I finally settled on a few goals for this month.
First, let’s take a look at my goals from May:
Hit my Century Ride with Peloton
Grade: A+
Happy to report that I completed this last week. It was a fun but hard ride (tabata) and I’m already looking forward to my next milestone which will be 150 rides.
Complete the BibRave Run Streak
Grade:A+
I was able to complete this streak by walking or running at least a mile everyday. I’ll never do a traditional run streak (running daily) but having the option to walk on days I don’t run is nice.
Explore Boston
Grade: B+
I was able to do a good amount of sightseeing in the Financial district and near the Seaport but I would love the chance to explore more of the city on a future visit.
Here are my goals for June!
Decide on a Chicago Marathon training plan
I can’t believe that I’m already talking about marathon training – why did I think I had more time??
This month I will decide if I want to do a 12, 14 or 16 week training plan for the Chicago Marathon. My last marathon training cycle was 12 weeks (Shamrock Marathon), which is considered to be short, but I had a great base going into training so I wasn’t starting from scratch. I just need to sit down with a calendar and put pen to paper and see what I want to do. I’m not running with a marathon PR in mind but I damn sure want a course PR!
Get in workouts while traveling
I honestly don’t travel that often for work, but June is very busy. I’m traveling every week in June (except for the week of June 17). Of course it’s always hard to fit in exercise when you travel and deviate from your normal routine, but I want to make sure that I still make time to get in my runs, etc. It’s important to me that I don’t lose any fitness between now and when marathon training starts.
Complete 2 morning workouts per week
Although I always do my long runs on Saturday mornings, I don’t do too many morning workouts during the work week. This is primarily because I start work at 7:30am. While I know I wouldn’t be able to do all my weekly workouts in the morning, I think getting in 2 morning workouts is manageable. I always feel great once I get my workout out of the way in the morning and it frees up my time after work as well.
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for June?
I’m linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.

Looking at you crushing those goals! I am way behind you on Peloton but you really motivate me to do more classes. Nice job on the bib rave challenge. Love that running meme. Have a great weekend!
kookyrunner says
thanks Deborah! I’ve been slacking on my Peloton cycle classes since hitting the milestone – I have to get back at it!
Chaitali says
Great job on those May goals! And good idea to work on getting in some more morning runs. I find that helps when I have a busy month. You’re right, it always feels pretty good the rest of the day after a morning run too π
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The morning workouts are gonna be tough, but necessary, especially this month!
John @ run. geek. run(disney) says
Great job. My June goals are survive June. But seriously, taking a long road trip to visit both families and then to work at the office so survival is key to me. July I’ll get back to having fitness goals.
kookyrunner says
Totally know where you are coming from – sometimes just surviving all the business and chaos is a win-win!
Sandra D Laflamme says
Way to go with your peloton rides! It can be hard to fit in working out while traveling so that is a great goal. I am excited to follow your marathon training! I need to pick my next goal race!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Sandra!
Liz Dexter says
Peleton is such a good idea, and I love seeing what everyone’s doing with all these different things.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! Peloton has been great for me this year. The app makes things so convenient.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Morning workouts are a bear, I swear! And I’m a morning person, LOL! I did do some Yoga every morning this week (I don’t always). Got a bunch of morning workouts from a site I really enjoyed, so I did them.
Training schedule amnesia. It’s a thing! We start and it seems like so far away & then we finish & we’re like how did that fly past? Good luck with your marathon training!
kookyrunner says
I like training schedule amnesia, lol. That’s perfect!
Wendy says
I don’t set goals, but with motivation at an all time low, I probably need to start! I want to run at least 3x per week; go to bootcamp once weekly, strength train at least once weekly. I am working on improving my diet and trying to keep those extra lbs from sneaking up on me. I probably need to give up beer and wine. But I’m weak…
kookyrunner says
Sounds like you just listed your goals for June!
Kimberly Hatting says
Well, you know I’m all about the early morning sweat sessions π I have not put my 26.2 plan to paper yet…so I need to get going with that. I have a lot of other races between now and MCM to filter in and accommodate the respective mileage. It’s a challenge, but it’s always fun getting it all to gel together.
kookyrunner says
It’s always such a challenge to get the plan on paper! Right now I don’t have any races scheduled between now and the marathon, but I would like to use a few races as long runs, so that’s my current dilemma.
RenΓ©e says
you did great for May! and June seems manageable as well. I also want to do a few AM workouts and have planned pretty much everything out for the month. Of course I’ve already missed a few because I’m sick. Remember that summer cold you had? Yeah well, ya girl in the low lands has it now. Other than AM workouts, I’d really like to drop 2KG before the end of the month so I’m hard core on the MFP right now.
kookyrunner says
So sorry that you are sick π Those summer colds are the absolute worst!
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
I am going to Boston in near future. I have only been there for the Marathon weekend so it’ll be fun to explore.
kookyrunner says
It’s definitely a great city!
The Accidental Marathoner says
I haven’t historically set goals but I always love reading yours and seeing your progress in crushing them! I always have grand plans to train for big races but of course we all know how that turns out!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Linda!
Dominique Cheylise says
I totally feel you on how hard it can be meeting your exercise goals while traveling! I’m not a runner so it’s probably a little different, but I find that workouts on YouTube or Les Mills On Demand that I can do anywhere really help.
I’m also trying to get in more morning workouts this month!
kookyrunner says
Good luck to us on getting in our morning workouts!
Angela says
Great job hitting your goals! I really need to sit down an make some goals to keep on track this month!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Angela!
Jenn says
Great work! We will be in Boston in a few weeks and I am so excited! We’ve been before, but we are going to do a bit more exploring this time. I plan to eat my weight in lobster.
For June, I plan to check off another state on my 50 States quest, push harder in my 9Round and keep my miles up. Shouldn’t be too hard. π
kookyrunner says
That’s so cool that you will be in Boston this summer! I only had seafood once when I was there but it was super yummy – I’m sure the lobster will be great!
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
I am so excited for Chicago training to start! I finally committed to the race and to a training plan (18 weeks for me). Let’s do this!
kookyrunner says
Nice! So cool that you are running it too π
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You did great with your May goals!
I can so relate to that morning workout meme! LOL! I didn’t realize you start work so early!
Can’t wait to hear what you settle on for a training plan.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! Yup, I work 7:30-4, which is good because that means I’m normally down with my evening workouts by 6, but sometimes I’m tired after work so it would be good to get the workout done in the morning if possible!
Cari says
I love that card/meme!
Way to go on the streak. Run/walk I could definitely do too
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Yes, I can’t do a traditional run streak but I love the activity streak.
