Happy Tuesday! I’m excited for this post because tomorrow is Global Running Day!
What is Global Running Day? According to their website, “Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages everyone to get moving. It doesn’t matter how fast you run or how far you go—what’s important is that you take part, and how you do it is up to you. Run a lap around your block, take your dog for a long walk, or call your friends for a pick-up game in the park. The important thing is that you have fun being active—and you inspire others to join you.”
This week’s Tuesday Topic: How will you celebrate Global Running Day? You can write about this topic, or feel free to post any running related blog post. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
If you’re still looking for ideas, there are so many ways to get involved in this holiday:
Run a Virtual Race
Sign up for the free NYRR Virtual Global Running Day 1 mile race to join the worldwide celebration of running from anywhere in the world! Run or walk your virtual race, powered by Strava, anytime between June 1-9. You can register for this race here.
Sign up for a race
What better way to celebrate than to sign up for a race? Rock n Roll Marathon Series is hosting their annual Global Running Day sale. This is the one day of the year where you can get heavily discounted prices on race registrations. My mom and I are considering signing up for either RnR Arizona or RnR New Orleans (depending on the prices) for 2020. You can visit their website on June 5 for all the details, or you can go there now to sign up to be notified when the sale begins.
Set a Goal
Thinking about setting a PR this year? Want to run a race in a new state? Or maybe you want to run your first half marathon or marathon? Global Running Day is a great day to take that first step and put that goal into action.
How are you celebrating Global Running Day?

I signed up for that NYRR virtual race. My local running club is having a run, but I have to work and can’t go. Boooo! LOL.
kookyrunner says
Awesome that you signed up for the NYRR virtual run!

That’s actually a great question — I’m haven’t completely decided whether I’m going to run today or tomorrow, but I’m leaning towards today, in which case I won’t run tomorrow — mainly because I have a busier day tomorrow (but also because the weather is nicer today).
Maybe I need to research Fall halfs. 🙂
kookyrunner says
I may not run tomorrow due to the fact that I’m taking a boot camp class tomorrow night – I’ll have to see, maybe I can get a quick 1 mile run done!
Darlene says
There are quite a few local options for running. I will definitely run and I am leaning toward the ice cream run. I just wish it were warmer and rain not predicted.
kookyrunner says
Oh the ice cream run sounds like it would be super fun!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I’ll be logging a couple of miles tomorrow, but mostly I think I’ll be stocking the race websites for a good sale. 😉
kookyrunner says
LOL sounds like a good way to spend the day 🙂
Kimberly Hatting says
I’ll be rising and running at 05:00 tomorrow morning 😉 Surprised? 😉
kookyrunner says
lol not surprised at all!

I have never heard about the Global Running Day, But I think it is a wonderful event. However this morning I have run 10 km (now in Italy it’s 10:50 a.m.)

Zenaida Arroyo says
New Orleans is fun!! Hope you sign up and go with your mom.
kookyrunner says
Totally agree – it’s such a fun city!
Laurie says
I messed up! Hubby and I did our long run last night! I did not plan to run today, but how can I not run on global Running Day? Maybe just a quick 5K! 🙂
kookyrunner says
I may or may not run today, but I’ll celebrate by signing up for a race lol
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Well I am hoping to score some great deals on some new running shoes and perhaps some clothes 🙂 I will probably be in the gym today but thinking about running-does that count?
kookyrunner says
That’s great! I know that Running Warehouse is running a 20% sale today on select items.
I may or may not run today but I will go to the gym. I’ll sign up for a race today so that will count for celebrating Global Running Day lol
Annmarie says
I ran yesterday and while I typically don’t run two days in a row, I might have to today 😉 Or just sign up for some races 😉
kookyrunner says
I’m probably going to sign up for a race, not sure about the run though!
Sandra D Laflamme says
I need to pick my next race. I thought I could do a 25K but now have a conflict with family coming to town. I love this celebration of running every year!
kookyrunner says
I hope that you find a great race that will work with your schedule!
Marc Pelerin says
I’ll be running at the local group run tonight! Hoping to get in 6.5 miles before the storms come!
kookyrunner says
Sounds great! Hope you were able to get in the miles before the rain.
Debbie says
I had to work early this morning but I did manage to get in 5k beforehand.
kookyrunner says
Nice! I didn’t get in a run today but I did go to the gym so I’m calling that a win, lol
Dominique Cheylise says
Virtual run?! That is so cool! I’ve never heard of anything like that. I think I’m going to sign up!
kookyrunner says
That’s great!
Chaitali says
I did not celebrate at all. I kind of forgot about it. I got lost in running a bunch of errands and stuff and forgot to even do my scheduled strength training. Thankfully training is done for now so it doesn’t matter too much 🙂 Hope you had a good run yesterday!
kookyrunner says
Don’t feel bad – I didn’t run either yesterday. I did go to the gym so I’m calling that a win.
