Happy Sunday! For the first time in forever we finally had more days with sunshine instead of rain. I think summer is starting to come around. I’m not that pleased about the heat but I’m also so sick of the relentless rain!
I was traveling in the beginning of the week but still managed to get in my workouts – yay! Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, June 3
4 mile run.
Although I’m sure I let out a few curse words, it was nice to get the run done early before my morning train to DC. I was in DC on Monday/Tuesday for team meetings this week.
Tuesday, June 4
Elliptical (20 minutes) + HIIT cardio (30 minutes).
I had a full day of meetings and then a 4 hour train ride home so I had to get in my workout in the morning. I was surprised that there were people already in the hotel gym at 6am. I had planned on using the free weights for some strength training but there was a guy grunting like a maniac over in that section. It was just too early in the morning for that nonsense so that’s when I went upstairs to my room to do the HIIT cardio classes. Also the gym had a Peloton bike, but for some reason I couldn’t log into my account. I was bummed š
Wednesday, June 5
Boot Camp (60 minutes).
It felt nice to be back home and back to my normal Wednesday night boot camp class. We did hella squats during class so I was feeling the burn.
Thursday, June 6
3 mile run + strength training for runners (30 minutes).
Another morning workout complete! This was my first time taking one of the strength for runners on the Peloton app and it was great! I need to do those types of classes more vs the traditional strength training classes.
Friday, June 7
Rest Day!
This couldn’t have come at a better time since I was pretty much sore all day – probably DOMS from my Tuesday/Wednesday workouts.
Saturday, June 8
3 mile run + 1 mile walk.
This run was a slog from start to finish. The weather was decent, not too warm, but the sun was out in full force. I think I was probably dehydrated as well because my fingers were pretty swollen by the time I finished. I was actually hoping to get in 6 miles, but I have to be happy with what I was able to get done.
Sunday, June 9
Spinning (60 minutes).
My only spin class this week but it was a great one!
Total Weekly Mileage: 10 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 1 spinning class, 2 strength training workouts and 1 walk
Grade This Week ā B+
Another decent week, but it could have been better. I’m really looking forward to my workouts this week because I have my first Orange Theory Fitness class on Thursday! The studio is finally open (there were some issues during construction). I’m really looking forward to getting in there and seeing what these classes are all about!
I have a 6am flight to Toronto tomorrow and I come back on Tuesday night. It’s going to be another busy two days. I doubt I will get in a workout on Monday (actually, I know I won’t) so I may have to switch my rest days this week but that’s okay – it’s all about making adjustments!
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Great job getting your workouts in despite the work travel! Looking forward to hearing what you think of OTF – a studio recently opened not too far from my house and I’ve been trying to find a time to check out a class.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! I will definitely do a blog post about OTF after I take a few weeks of classes.
Deborah Brooks says
Let me know next time you are coming to DC! Sounds like a busy week for you.
kookyrunner says
I will! This time I was there for team meetings so we didn’t have any free time unfortunately š
Kimberly Hatting says
I have to laugh every time you mention the grunter in the workout room LOL Too funny (but super annoying). Thanks for linking with us, Kim š
kookyrunner says
I can laugh at it now but at the time I was so annoyed. Why make so much noise and waste so much energy? LoL
Liz Dexter says
Oh dear, a grunter. Not good, I think you took the sensible option there!! I’m hoping to get to spin this week but we have some house stuff going on and deliveries I have to wait in for, so I’m not sure I’ll manage. Here’s to a strong week next week!
kookyrunner says
Yes the grunters just drive me crazy. It seems like such a waste of energy!
Coco says
What?! You were in D.C. and didn’t tell me?? Of course, I went to Philly on Tuesday, but … Ugh on guys grunting in hotel gyms. It’s usually much ado about nothing too. š Bummer on the peleton not working, but I find hotel gym equipment often doesn’t work like it should.
Enjoy your trip to Toronto — there’s a path by the water if you have time to get out for a run.
kookyrunner says
That’s so true about hotel gym equipment!

Nice job getting the workouts in when you were out of town! I’m fortunate not to have to travel for my job, but sometimes my hours switch and I have to make adjustments in my planned workouts. Flexibility is definitely the key! Enjoy Toronto! And I’m looking forward to hearing about OTF. I’m publishing my Heart Zones post tomorrow, and I touch on that a little bit.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I normally don’t have to travel too much for work – June just ended up being a super busy month!
Marcia says
Boo to a crowded hotel gym! How great they even had a Peloton bike but too bad you couldn’t log in . Weird. Can’t wait to hard how you like OTF. Seems like everyone who goes is a fan.
kookyrunner says
Yeah it was really strange and there wasn’t an option to not log in and workout as a guest š
Hannah says
I think that’s a great week of workouts for having been out of town! I’m curious to hear about OTF – a studio just opened here, but I’m not sure I want to try it since I really hate treadmills.
kookyrunner says
I’ve heard that OTF is a good mix of the different machines so it doesn’t seem like you would be on the treadmill too long, hopefully!
Chaitali says
Great job getting in those work outs with the work travel. That always makes it difficult. And have fun in Toronto and with that Orange Theory class š I look forward to hearing about it.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I am really look forward to the OTF class later on this week.
Sandra D Laflamme says
Great job on your workouts!Hooray for some sunshine finally!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Sandra!
Jenny Albertson says
I don’t have to adjust my schedule around a job, but I do have to adjust around kids. So good work for getting the workouts done !
kookyrunner says
So much hard to adjust around kids schedules!
Bethany Rutledge says
Great week! I love orange theory and it’s so convenient and efficient. Hope you had fun there.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I think I will like it š
Zenaida Arroyo says
When do you start your marathon training? I can’t remember what you decided to do regarding following a plan or hiring a coach.
You know I love my morning runs. It is tough but eventually you do get used to it. š Well, maybe not in the winter when it is cold and you want to stay in your warm bed.
kookyrunner says
I’m not using a coach this time – I’m going to adjust previous plans that I’ve used. I will either do a 14 or 16 week training plan so I still have a few weeks.
Jessie says
Nice work Kim getting in so much activity despite a busy work schedule! How frustrating to get up early and find the grunter in the gym- ARGH!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! The grunter at the gym drove me absolutely nuts.
Jenn says
It can be so hard to fit in workouts and travel, but you’re doing a great job! I hope you have an incredible time in Toronto!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Jenn!
MCM Mama Runs says
Busy week! Way to get all of your workouts in, despite grunter guy and a cranky peloton.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The grunter drove me nuts!
Dominique Cheylise says
I love the variety in your workouts! Please do let us know how you like Orangetheory! There’s one opening up this summer in my area and I’m considering giving it a try!
kookyrunner says
I definitely will – I think I’ll do a blog post on OTF after I take a few classes.
