Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: FREE! You can write about any running related topic. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
I am not planning on doing any in-person races until next Spring so the rest of the year will be all about virtual races. Today I’ll be highlighting a few virtual races that I’ll be doing this Fall.
Back on My Feet Running Festival
The Back on My Feet Running Festival aims to bring together hundreds of runners across the country in support of the BOMF mission. Back on My Feet is a national organization operating in 14 major cities across the US, combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. The race distances available are 5K, 10K, 15K and 30K. As a BibRavePro I have a free entry to run the 10K virtual race and I can’t wait. I love using my miles to support a great cause! If you’re interested in registering for this race, you can use promo code BibRave5! to save $5 off registration.
lululemon SeaWheeze 2021 Virtual Half Marathon and 10K
At only $5, I couldn’t pass up registering for this race (I’ll be doing the 10K). 100% of entry funds raised will be distributed to three Non-profit organizations through lululemon’s social impact program, Here to Be. The organizations are Back on My Feet, Black Men Run, and Girls on the Run – all 3 great causes!
Virtual NYRR Run for Thanks 5K
With a race description like this, how could I not want to run this around Thanksgiving? Bonus – it’s FREE!
“Celebrate your #ReasontoRun this November by taking on a virtual 5K with family and friends from around the world. Dedicate your Virtual NYRR Run for Thanks 5K to whoever or whatever you are thankful for this year. If you have loved ones across the globe, encourage them to sign up and run with you anytime between November 20 and 28 to show your appreciation and feel a connection even if you cannot be physically together. Connect with the global running community as we all come together to express the gratitude we feel at this time of year.”
Tell me: Do you have any in-person or virtual races scheduled for the Fall?

I’m definitely looking at the Seawheeze virtual race! It all depends on how the healing goes–it’s looking good thus far. You can’t beat the price!
kookyrunner says
Right?! They definitely made the race very affordable/accessible this year!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I like free (the NYRR race). I may have to consider that one! I haven’t done any virtual races this year. Thanks for sharing, Kim!
kookyrunner says
No problem! And you’re right – you can’t beat free 🙂
Kimberly Hatting says
These all sound like great racing options, and they definitely support wonderful causes 😉 I took the refund option for the Air Force Marathon, but am going to register for the virtual 10K to run with my friend, Amy. She’s been training for the 10K, and was planning to go to Dayton with me and run the 10K …so we’re gonna just do it virtual in Grinnell. Otherwise, I’m thinking of registering for the virtual Kickoff to Kinnick 5K, which is a U of Iowa-based event. The in-person race is happening the weekend the hubs and I are going to Maryland (for the Iowa game there LOL) …so why not run a virtual Iowa race while there?
kookyrunner says
Such a bummer about the Air Force Marathon but happy that you were able to get a refund for the race. Doing the virtual 10K option with a friend should be fun!
Deborah Brooks says
I did sign up for Seawheeze as well since I will training anyway why not!? Thanks for the reminder on the back on my feet-I will sign up for that as well
kookyrunner says
Awesome! Happy to be doing these races with you virtually.

Those sound like fun virtual races! I am doing an in-person Turkey Trot if all goes well and I may do a Christmas themed run with the Speerheads. It’s always a blast to get together (virtually) and run go a good cause!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome! Our local turkey trot won’t be happening this year so I figured the virtual race was a good option.
Catrina says
Oh, I like these virtual races that support good causes. Nice choices, Kim!
I also like the Virtual NYRR Run for Thanks 5K – that will be something I will consider doing in November. Thanks for highlighting it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! Always happy to share virtual races that support charitable organizations 🙂
San says
I won’t be running any in person races this year either, but I also signed up for the Seawheeze Race! I think I saw you mention it before and that’s how I learned about it 🙂
kookyrunner says
Awesome! So happy to be running that race virtually with so many bloggers 🙂
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I run many of the virtual NYRR races because they’re free.
Thanks for the reminder.
Maybe I’ll do Sea Breeze too.
kookyrunner says
I love that the NYRR races are free!
Jenny says
Sigh! Good question! Just as Covid was easing up (we thought) my body decided to thwart me with injuries, and now that I’m running again it looks like races are being canceled. I missed the window! But i’ll definitely start looking into virtual options. The ones you mention all sound great.
kookyrunner says
Yeah, it seems like in-person races were good for a few months but now many and canceling or turning virtual. It’s such a bummer for everyone I know that is ready to race in-person again.
Michelle D. says
Great virtual options! I’m looking forward to running Back on My Feet with you!
I do have two in-person races scheduled but I’m not feeling very hopeful that they’ll be held….sigh.
kookyrunner says
Yeah it seems like the status of many of the Fall in-person races is still up in the air 🙁
Zenaida Arroyo says
Only $5 for the lululemon race? Wow, great deal! I have no races this Fall but I need to look into a few half marathons for next year.
kookyrunner says
It’s such a great deal for a race and the money goes to a great cause!
