Happy Tuesday! Welcome to another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s topic – holiday gifts for runners! You can write about this, or any other running related topic. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday! Can you believe that it’s already December? I think Thanksgiving being so late in November makes the official shopping season seem short this year. Not to fear! I have some great holiday gift ideas for runners to share with you today. This is more of a broad list and doesn’t include many brands, but still offers some great gift ideas!
Memberships
A gift doesn’t have to be a physical item – paying for a monthly membership can be an amazing gift for a runner. Does your runner have a monthly membership at their favorite gym or yoga studio? Offer to pay their membership for the month of January. This can also apply to app memberships as well (i.e. Strava Summit). This is a practical gift that is sure to be appreciated!
Food of Fuel
Sure, it’s not an “exciting” gift, but when it comes to food and fuel, runners usually like to stick with the same products, and always have favorites. Why not gift the runner in your life with some of these products? Some ideas include collagen powder (great for bones and joints), protein powder, gels or chews, RunGum, energy bites and Nuun or Tailwind products. You can even make a small gift basket and include 5-7 items. It’s a thoughtful gift and you know that the recipient will actually use the items.
Electronics
What runner doesn’t love gadgets? I made this category broad since it can include so many different items. Some that come to mind include a GPS watch, Fitbit, Apple Watch, recovery compression boots, wireless headphones, electric massager, etc. I could literally go on and on but you get the idea š
Gift Cards
Last but not least, gift cards! This is the gift I get for a runner when I am at a loss for what to get him/her. You can get an American Express, Visa or Mastercard gift card which a runner can use anywhere, or you can get more specific gift cards. I love giving runners a gift card to a local running store because it’s a great way to support small businesses. I also love giving gift cards for online stores, such as Running Warehouse, and for music, such as iTunes gift cards.

Zenaida Arroyo says
I love your gift ideas! I think that runners will appreciate anything running related no matter what.
kookyrunner says
Totally agree!
Kimberly Hatting says
Great suggestions! It’s often times a challenge in getting gifts for fellow runners…even if you know the person well, a lot of running gear is very personal. And, a lot of my running friends already have everything LOL I’m always up for the challenge, though, and (usually) windup getting the same stuff for myself š
kookyrunner says
That’s very true about running gear being very personal. In those cases I usually opt for a gift card. There’s nothing worse than getting someone a gift they don’t use!
Wendy says
Such great gift ideas!!!! I hope you’ll link this post up with my gift list link up!
kookyrunner says
I did! Thanks Wendy š
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I don’t know why people seem to hate giving gift cards — but I don’t know too many people that don’t enjoy getting them!
kookyrunner says
Me too! My mom hates giving gift cards as gifts because she says its “not personal” but I try to tell her that’s the best gift because then that person can get something they really want!
Darlene says
Great ideas. Iād be happy with any of these.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Darlene!
Catrina says
I love getting gift cards! They really allow for so much flexibility and I still think of the person when I use the card. Do you give away gift cards a lot?
kookyrunner says
They really do! I give gift cards out to my friends and family for birthdays, but usually give gifts for the holidays.
The Accidental Marathoner says
Such great practical gift ideas! I love the idea of the gift basket of several small items. My son asked me just the other day for some ideas for his girlfriend to get for me – she was thinking something travel-related since I travel so much. He bought me a great little travel jewelry pouch last year so I think they were thinking along those lines. He asked about a makeup bag – I already have a couple. So what I asked for was some of those little single-packets of GLG Collagen Hydrolysate. I put it in my coffee every morning, and I love the individual packets for travel!
kookyrunner says
Those GLG packets are a great idea! I always bring them with me when I travel too.
Jenn says
I absolutely love the idea of a membership. Sometimes, that’s the first and best step to getting someone motivated. It’s also an awesome treat for those who are already part of a program. Who doesn’t love free workouts?
kookyrunner says
It really is! Sometimes people just need motivation to workout and I can’t think of anything better than offering it for free š
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Very practical ideas! Speaking of memberships- do you have strava summit? I just use the regular version
kookyrunner says
I just use the regular version since I don’t use Strava that often.
Marcia says
I love all these ideas! I just read what you said about your mom about not giving gift cards and my mom is the SAME WAY! Maybe it’s a generational thing?? I don’t know but I know what NOT to get her Haha!
kookyrunner says
It must be a generational thing because all my friends love giving and getting gift cards lol
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Great ideas! I would not be sad if one of those massage guns showed up under my tree! š
kookyrunner says
Those massage guns are the best!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
These are all great ideas! It’s funny it took me years to convince my mother that gift cards are great gifts! You’ve also reminded me I need to drop some hints on those recovery compression boots š
kookyrunner says
Yes, start dropping hints now, lol.
Denise @runheartfit says
All great ideas! I love gift cards. Then I can get what I want when I need it.
kookyrunner says
That’s what I really love about gift cards š
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I love giving gift certificates, especially to a store where I know the recipient loves shopping. I also love giving gifts of my time, like planning a run and treating a friend to brunch afterward.
kookyrunner says
I love the gift of time – it’s so personal and the recipient always appreciates it!
Debbie says
Sometimes I feel like I have so much I don’t even know what to ask for any more! Though gift cards are always welcome.
kookyrunner says
Same here, that’s why gift cards are the way to my heart, lol. That way I can save them and use them for when I really want something.
Farrah says
Great picks! I’m a terrible gift giver so I often opt for gift cards. Then I know almost for sure that they’ll get something they like! š
kookyrunner says
Exactly! Gift cards are so universal.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Yes, runners would love any and all of your gift ideas! Since I haven’t been running a lot, I haven’t really felt like there’s anything I need, but a gift card to buy new shoes is always a winner!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree – My friend got my a Brooks gift card last year and I used it to buy a pair of sneakers.
