Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: What are your Spring running plans and/or race schedule?
Can you believe that yesterday was the first official day of Spring?! I don’t have any Spring races on the calendar, but that may change if I see any cool new races I want to do. Even if I don’t have any planned races, I still have some running and waking plans for Spring.
More outdoor runs
I am so dependent on my treadmill. I use it for 95% of my runs. It doesn’t bother me, but I know I need to do more outdoor running. I’m going to make a point to do more outdoor runs this Spring. I don’t have a set number in mind, but just making the choice to run outside vs indoors a few times a week would be a good start.
Daily Walks
Starting in April I am thinking about doing 30-45 minute daily walks. The weather should be nice and if it’s not raining, it’s a good chance for me to get outside to get some fresh air. It’s going to be a little tricky to do it during my lunch breaks because work will still be kinda nuts next month, but I can always move it to after work since it’s daylight for a little longer now.
Tell me: What are your Spring running plans and/or race schedule?

These are great plans, Kim! I couldn’t imagine doing my runs indoors on a treadmill – I would miss the fresh air and the change of scenery. But I understand that it isn’t always possible, especially with a tight schedule.
I love your idea of walking every day!
kookyrunner says
I totally understand. Outdoor running is much better but I love the treadmill for convenience, especially if I am tight on time.

Once you get outside you’ll probably like the outdoor runs. Provided that it warms up.
Daily walks is a great idea. I want to do that too.
kookyrunner says
Definitely – I hate running the Summer but Springtime running isn’t bad as long as my allergies cooperate.

I’ve been walking daily recently and I love it so much! It gives me a burst of energy in the middle of the day. It’s funny how some people HATE the treadmill and some people like it. Once you get more in the habit of running outside you’ll probably love it, assuming you have a safe and convenient place to run. Good plans!

I used to walk outside daily during my lunch break when everything first shut down because of Covid and I really enjoyed it so I definitely want to get back to that feeling.

Well I’m all about the daily walking! I try to get outside everyday, walking if not running . I’m looking forward to increased temps (and even more daylight!) so I don’t have to bundle-up so much.
kookyrunner says
Yes the increased daylight is probably the only thing I like about Spring/Summer.
Jenn says
This is great. I’m all about getting outside and doing my movement and activity out there.
kookyrunner says
I’m looking forward to getting outside more!
