Welcome to another edition of Tuesday Topics! This week’s topic – Tell us about your best or worst race.
Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
Last week I wrote about some not-so-great things that have happened to me at races, so today let’s discuss some positive/fun races!
My first marathon, enough said!
2016 Rock n’ Roll San Diego Half Marathon
The course was very hilly, the weather wasn’t the best (humid) and I was dealing with a knee issue, but this is still in the top 3 for my favorite races of all time. First of all, San Diego is gorgeous! I was also able to run the race with friends and meet up with so many members of the WeRunSocial and ProCompression crew. It was such an enjoyable weekend!
Not only was this race in my second favorite city, but I was able to meet SO many amazing blogger friends. I often think about this weekend, especially over the past few weeks since I probably won’t travel for any races this year. It was such a fun weekend!
2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Again, you can’t go wrong in Chicago, right? This race was special because it was my redemption race to make up for my poor experience at the 2017 Chicago Marathon. I also had a great weekend running the 5k race the day before, hanging with friends and indulging in all the delicious food!
Tell me: What was your best or worst race?

Topic for next week – What are some of your running hacks?
That photo from the 2018 Chicago Marathon with all the running bloggers is EPIC!
What a wonderful crowd – so cool when you meet up in person.
I’d say my worst race was also my first marathon… I barely finished before the cut-off time. It was a total disaster and I had no idea what I was doing.
The best: the Jungfrau Marathon. It was steep uphill, but with sensational views!
It was such a fun weekend! Sometimes I forget that I even ran any races because I enjoyed meeting up with everyone so much lol
YES!!! Chicago RnR was so EPIC 😉 I also list my first marathon right at the top of my best/favorite race experiences…it was everything I was hoping for (and so much more). Congrats on your great races 😉
I hope that we’re able to do another huge blogger meet up like that next year – I miss everyone!
I agree with you–you can’t go wrong with Chicago! My worst and best races were the Chicago Marathon. My first Chicago: hands down the worst race I’ve ever run. My second Chicago remains my favorite race ever and my PR marathon. That is the marathon where almost everything went right. I say almost because I forgot to turn my phone off and my medical assistant kept calling me! LOL
That RnR Chicago was so much fun, wasn’t it? I think we’re going to have to have a meet up again, if we can!
I really hope we’re able to do another huge blogger meet up like that again in 2021 – I miss everyone!
You know, I’ve had a lot of great races — and probably almost an equal number of bad races.
I don’t think I’ll be traveling for a race this year either. Or maybe even traveling period. Ah well, #firstworldproblems.
Same here – I highly doubt I’ll be traveling anywhere for a race this year. I am signed up for a race in Philly in the Fall but I can drive there which is fine, but I don’t even know if they will still have the race.
I LOVED Chicago. It was one of my favorite marathons. I think my very favorite was in Eugene, Oregon. Worst marathon might have been Grandma’s in Duluth, MN, just because it was so stinkin’ hot!!! When I was close to the finish line, I saw a bank thermometer. It said 93 degrees! Ugh!
Chicago is such a great city – I wish I could live there! I heard about that super hot Grandma’s Marathon 🙁 Way to push through!
NYCM – can never beat that for the city and the race and hell, my first marathon.
Naples HM because I love the place and it was my FIRST half.
Panama City HM because I met so many amazing run bloggers.
I’ve had bad races too.
Right now, I give anything to just do a REAL race.
I still need to run a race in Florida – maybe next year!
That Chicago race weekend sure was a blast even though it poured the entire time! I cannot believe it was 2 years ago. Fun memories!
Same! When I was writing the post I kept saying how was that 2 years ago? I can’t believe its been that long.
New York City was your first marathon? Wow, that must be pretty hard to top. The Chicago RnR looked like a lot of fun. What a great turn out!
Yup! I decided I might as well go big for the first marathon, lol.
It’s fun looking back at the good times! Chicago just looks like such an amazing experience, it’s awesome that you and the gang were able to get together!
It’s so funny, I’m finding it hard to think of my best race experience! I will say when I ran the New Jersey Marathon I felt so strong, which was great! And Rock ‘n Roll races are fun – doing the half marathon relay in Savannah with my brand new husband was definitely a treat!
That’s one thing I used to love about the RnR races – they were in so many cities that it was a great way to explore a new area.
That Chicago RnR weekend was so much fun!! Makes me sad to think there won’t be any meet-ups this year…I guess we better start planning something for 2021, right? 😉
Yes! We need to start planning for 2021 🙂
Love that the Chicago races are on this list! I love the marathon and have a love and hate relationship with the RnR Half Marathon. The weather is iffy and it can be perfect weather or it can be hot and humid. One year I think it rained the entire race! I think it was in 2018?
Yes, the Chicago weather can be so strange. I had very different weather both times I’ve done the marathon.
