Happy Sunday! Wow – I can’t believe that I’ve been working from home and immersed in the “quarantine life” for 10 weeks. When this first started, I didn’t think it would be over in 2 weeks, but I also didn’t think it would be this long either. On Thursday my job announced that we have the option to continue working from home until October so I’m glad I’ve established a routine for myself. On Wednesday my state started phase 1 of re-opening. So far it looks like people are using common sense (for the most part) so I hope that continues.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, May 18
Peloton Club Bangers Ride: Live From Home 5/15/20 – Alex (30 minutes)
Peloton Bodyweight: Live From Home 5/17/20 – Jess (30 minutes)
3.1 Mile Afternoon Walk
I’m a huge fan of the Club Bangers rides because the music is always SO good and this class didn’t disappoint! The bodyweight strength workout was really tough. There was a 10 minute EMOM (every minute on the minute) at the end of the workout that basically left me in a puddle of sweat on the floor, lol.
Tuesday, May 19
Peloton Outdoor Walk + Run 10/10/19 – Jess (30 minutes)
Peloton Arms & Shoulders Strength 5/19/20 – Adrian (10 minutes)
2.35 mile walk
For this workout I ended up walking to the park, then completing a Peloton Outdoor Run workout, then walked back home from the park. I think this was my first outdoor run with Peloton and it was pretty cool to be guided through the run (I just ran a little slower during the walk sections). When I got home, I took a quick 10 minute arms & shoulders workout with the newest Peloton instructor, Adiran Williams. I really liked his energy and humor so I look forward to taking more classes with him in the future!
Wednesday, May 20
Peloton Hip Hop Bootcamp 8/10/19 – Jess (60 minutes)
Absolutely loved this bootcamp! It was a little different as it had four 15 minute sections, as opposed to six 10 minute sections. I liked the longer sections, especially on the floor because Jess focused on upper body and core for the first floor section and then lower body for the second floor section.
I was having an issue with my ankle for most of the week and it felt really sore after this class so I decided to skip my afternoon walk and take it easy the rest of the day.
Thursday, May 21
Peloton Y2K Ride 1/2/18 – Alex (45 minutes)
Peloton AHM Full Body: Live From Home 5/14/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
1.81 mile afternoon walk
Even though I iced my ankle the night before, it was hurting when I woke up so I decided to change my workout from a run to a cycle and strength day. Both workouts were great, although my ankle did hurt when I added a lot of resistance on the bike so I scaled it back a bit.
Friday, May 22
Peloton Hip Hop Cycle 9/30/19 – Alex (45 minutes)
Peloton HIIT Cardio 3/27/20 – Jess (20 minutes)
1.95 mile afternoon walk
Decided to take another day off running since my ankle was a little swollen when I woke up. I really love the music in the cycle class and the HIIT cardio was a nice switch up from taking a strength training class.
Saturday, May 23
It was cloudy and super humid when I woke up so I decided to move my “longish” run to Sunday. I had the brilliant idea to do an advanced boot camp class. Y’all..I don’t know what I was thinking! My arms are still sore today. I should probably just stick to the intermediate classes from now on!
Sunday, May 24
It was a good day for a run! The weather was much cooler and I was up pretty early so I was able to avoid a lot of people on the sidewalks. I listened to two outdoor Peloton runs to help pass the time and got in a 10K for the Un-Canceled Project. My ankle was a little tender by the end of the run but not too bad.
Total Weekly Mileage: 15 miles
Summary: 4 runs*, 3 cycle class, 3 strength workouts and 2 bootcamp classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs as well.
Grade This Week ā A
I took Monday and Tuesday off from work and it was very much needed. On Monday I binge watched The Morning Show – it was SO good! I rarely spend an entire day watching a show but I was hooked and I can’t wait for season 2. On Tuesday I went grocery shopping and finished up some tasks around the house. Best of all, I didn’t check my work email once – I truly disconnected and it was exactly what I needed.
Once again, my sleep has turned to crap. This time I have the proof from my Apple watch..
I had 3 nights like this during the week. It’s so strange because one night I’ll get little to no sleep and the next night I’ll get a decent amount (around 5-6 hours). There’s no rhyme or reason to it which makes it even more annoying. Hopefully this week will be better.
Earlier in the post I mentioned that my state has re-opened as of Wednesday. I’ll admit to looking online to see photos of the outdoor dining from around the state because I wanted to see is restaurants were following the rules. For the most part they were, but of course they can’t control what their patrons do. Then I saw this photo and was instantly annoyed.
What part of “do not socialize with people who you don’t live with” is so hard to understand?! I’m pretty sure these co-workers don’t live in the same household. I’m just so incredibly annoyed at people not adhering to the rules to keep themselves, and others, safe. I’m sure I’ll continue this rant in my Runfessions post on Friday. Sorry but it just really fires me up!
…and because I always like to end my post with a little humor..
That’s it! I hope you had a great week š
Iām linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

5-6 hrs is not a great amount of sleep, either! I hope you can figure that & your ankle out.
Yes, today was a much nicer day to run. But I want to run tomorrow & I’m not doing back to back runs right now. I survived yesterday!
It’s really hard to figure out what the right thing it is to do about getting together with fiends.
kookyrunner says
I know š I’m not normally an 8 hour a night person anyway, so if I get 6 hours I call that a win. I do need to get more consistent sleep though.
Deborah Brooks says
omg you always have the funniest memes! I get you on people not getting it. I just saw photos from people at the beach yesterday totally insane. i mean we all have been doing this for 10 weeks!! Totally drives me crazy. Nice job on your workouts this week you have had some great variety
kookyrunner says
I will admit that the memes were super funny this week – gotta love Instagram!
I already know that the photos from the beaches tomorrow are probably going to be pretty bad. I totally understand that people want to get out and get back to normal, but I also don’t want to deal with a second wave of Covid.
Coco says
October. Wow. I think I could be back in September, but it depends on when D.C. starts opening.
Great memes! Maybe the coworkers have been going to work together all this time? Thatās the only excuse I can think of. š Plus, who would have their first meal out be with coworkers?!!
Iāve been sleeping a lot more lately, mostly because my husband gets up an hour later and itās so hard to get up before he does!
Iāve only done one Peloton outdoor run – Scooby doesnāt really listen to pacing cues.
kookyrunner says
Yeah it’s going to be interesting to see how companies handle this. Technically office buildings in CT opened back up on Wednesday but I don’t think many employees are rushing back to the office.
I hope that you’re right about that photo. If not, it’s just so completely irresponsible to me.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Lol, your memes are on point! I should check out the peloton runs, I keep hearing great things.
kookyrunner says
I’ve done more treadmill runs than outdoor runs but both are really good!
Laurie says
Kim, you are killing all those Peloton workouts! Way to go! I had no idea until I started reading your blog that they did such a variety of different types.
Loved the memes. I am definitely more of the “ice cream into pancakes” kind of person! š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Laurie! I think that’s one thing that Peloton needs to get better at. They do a lot of marketing around the bike, as they should, but they need to also let people know about all the classes that the app offers as well!
Jessie says
OMG, Zoom totally needs that feature š Even for the zooms with my friends or family, there’s just not an easy way to end it!
Glad your company is giving you the option to work from home until October.
I saw some pictures of people in CT at restaurants and they were definitely not in the same family… our restaurants are opening up June 1 for outdoor dining and we are allowed to eat in groups of 4. I don’t know how comfortable I’ll fell with that, but maybe it will be okay…
kookyrunner says
It’s so hard to get off Zoom because people know that you literally have nowhere to go so you can’t really cut it short, lol.
I really wish that CT had waited until June to start their re-opening phase. I think that would have been safer, but I’ll just continue to stay indoors.
Marcia says
Oh man I feel you on the crappy sleep. It really takes a toll. I hope that improves for you this week. I am totally down with some wrap up music for Zoom! Haha! Great idea! We are supposed to enter the first phase of reopening I believe on June 3. I’m not sure how it’ll go, but I am hopeful. Who ever imagined we’d be staying home for 10+ weeks??
kookyrunner says
Even worse, I’m getting bad dark circles under my eyes so I had to whip out the under eye cream this week. The wrap up music for Zoom really needs to happen. It’s so hard to get off those calls lol. I’m glad that Chicago waited until June 3 to start re-opening. I really wish they had done that here.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Seriously Zoom needs that feature!! LOL
I’m right there with you on the crappy sleep – it’s so frustrating! And, it’s definitely leaving me feeling a little edgy some days.
Hope your ankle’s feeling better this week!
kookyrunner says
Yes! I was feeling very on edge a few days this week. Between allergies and lack of sleep, I just wanted peace and quiet lol.
Cari says
Those memes, like always. I couldn’t believe Nancy KErrigan was 25 years ago when someone said it. And yes, I was drinking my iced coffee through a straw around the mask and then it came off as soon as I got in my building. Normally I keep it on into the apartment, but no.
Well done on the mental heath of two days off, and glad your ankle is trending in the right direction
kookyrunner says
Right? It doesn’t seem like that scandal was so long ago – time really flies.
Darlene S Cardillo says
10 weeks!! I think i’ll be home util Sept.
YOu are killing those peleton workouts.
I ran today instead of yesterday. Glad I did. I have been getting together with friends but safely. We sit at least 6 ft apart. OUTDOORS. The same with running. We ran together for the first time. I was alone the whole time.
Everyone has to do what they feel comfortable with and not judge others.
kookyrunner says
I love that you are still able to meet up with your friends and practicing the 6 feet apart. I feel like it’s really not that hard so I don’t understand why it’s such a hard concept for people. Unfortunately we’re probably going to see a second wave of this in the Fall from people not following social distancing š
Wendy says
Love love that Tonya Harding meme! Lol! Did you see the movie I, Tonya?
You know how I feel about all this. I try so hard not to respond to the ignorant comments on FB but today one of my high school classmates posted that she feels like wearing masks should be optional. I just hate people sometimes. I need to stay off FB. I truly truly wish that people realized we are doing this for the greater good, not to inconvenience them.
Ok, off my soapbox. Have a great week!
kookyrunner says
I didn’t see I, Tonya – I should look to see if it’s on Netflix. Yup – we’re in sync with how we feel about this! I don’t even really log onto FB that much anymore because I don’t want to risk cursing someone out, lol. I literally have no filter anymore when it comes to this.
Kimberly Hatting says
Those memes are awesome š I donāt remember hearing about your ankle (?), hope that is feeling better soon! Yeah, Zoom needs that music feature LOL Great week of workouts!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The memes were especially crazy this week, lol. My ankle isn’t 100% but the pain in manageable so I hope it doesn’t get any worse.
Catrina says
Awesome Peloton week, dear Peloton Queen! Well done!
I wonder what that was with your ankle? Great that it didn’t bother you too much for your Un-Canceled 10k run.
Nice that you got two days off and could totally disconnect from work. I wonder if your sleep would improve if you could get to take a whole week off? Will you have some vacation time soon?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Catrina! I have no clue what causes the ankle pain but it’s feeling okay today. It’s still not 100% but it hasn’t gotten any worse so I’m taking that as a good sign. I don’t know if taking more time off from work would help with sleep, but I do plan on taking a week off sometime this summer.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job this week! Its nice that you know you can WFH until October. I feel like there are so many unknowns going into the fall. Like hopefully by then we will start to get back to some normalcy but then again there is talk about a second wave of the virus so who knows. I heard there were tons of people at the Ocean City boardwalk this weekend. We finally started to open up a little bit here and I have a feeling after this weekend our numbers will go up again.
kookyrunner says
I was glad that my job gave us that option. It made me less anxious about returning to the office.
Unfortunately I believe that we are going to have a second wave in the Fall because people are just not caring anymore. Looking at all the packed beaches this weekend makes me super nervous.
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I can’t believe how long it’s been going on either. Here in Florida we have a mix of common sense places and just plain stupidity. I have been at events where it was so crowded I left because I’m like this isn’t safe. But we did go out to dinner for the first time on Sunday and they were spacing tables pretty well, so…
As always, love the memes, especially that first one. Cracked me up.
kookyrunner says
That’s great that the table were spread out when you went out to dinner. I really appreciate the restaurants that are actually taking this seriously. Unfortunately I don’t think every place here is doing that so I’ll just avoid them at all costs.
The memes were especially crazy this week lol.
Shathiso says
We’ve started reopening too and most of my office have returned. But I’ve chosen to stay at home until schools open so I can continue home-schooling. Now that the kids and I have a routine, it’s working quite well. And winter is coming so it’s nice to be able to stay warm in the house.
Hope your ankle is better today after that Uncanceled 10K!
kookyrunner says
I thin the most important thing about this time was getting into a routine for the “new normal”. That’s great that you have been able to do that, and to continue to work from home too!
My ankle isn’t 100% but the pain is manageable so hopefully it doesn’t get worse.
Jenn says
OMG, that meme about the Oscars and the wrap it up music! Epic!
I think we are on the third week of reopening, at least Phase 1. Things seem to be ok, thus far. There are a few places that have gotten out of control, but most people seem to be fairly reasonable. I am hopinig that things continue to go well across the country.
kookyrunner says
I feel like Zoomis missing an opportunity by not implementing that feature LOL
I’m glad that the re-opening, for the most part, is going well in your state. There’s always going to be people and places that don’t listen to reason and use good sense but thankfully it’s easy enough to avoid those places. I saw photos from Daytona Beach this morning and just had to shake my head – it was so packed!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Could the ankle pain come from the shoes? You know how shoes always get blamed for any kind of pain we feel. š Those memes are HILARIOUS!!! IL will be opening up next week. I think hair salons on Friday? I “need” to get a haircut so will be planning a visit. That is great that you can work from home till October. I agree that it does get easier once you have a routine. I know I was struggling at first but once I made a schedule then it was a bit better for me. For now we know summer school will be online but the Fall session is still up in the air. Although I’ve been hearing rumors that it will be done online again. Who knows?
kookyrunner says
I don’t think the pain is coming from my running sneakers, I think it may be coming from my extremely tight calf muscle. I’ve been focusing on using my foam roller for that calf more often and I hope that will help. The salons here can open up next week but I won’t see my hairdresser until the middle of June. She is only taking one client at a time and we will both be wearing masks so I feel safe with that set up.
Liz Dexter says
So busy with all those workouts – wow! But that SLEEP. We’ve got to sort this out! I am about to get in my pyjamas so I can watch the programme we want to see at 9 and then go straight to bed. Husband has 7am meetings all week so hopefully we can both manage that. Sorry to see about your ankle and hope it’s feeling loads better now.
kookyrunner says
Yeah the sleep is an absolute disaster so I’m hoping to work on that more in the next upcoming weeks.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Glad the ankle was feeling a bit better as the week went on. We went out to dinner last night and ate indoors. It was different, but I think everyone was following the rules here. We are now allowed small gatherings of 10 people or less.
kookyrunner says
Oh wow, I didn’t know some states had indoor options already. We just have the outdoor options here. I’m still so anxious about everything here that I’ll probably wait a little bit longer before dining out, etc. I really miss eating out at restaurants though.
