Happy Sunday! Did you have a good week? Man, was this a crazy week (more on that below), but at least I was still able to get in all of my workouts. Also can we discuss Mother Nature? We literally got more snow in March than we received all winter! I have to laugh at it because it’s just so ridiculous.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, March 4
3 mile run + core work (10 minutes)
Monday was quite the day. We got a good amount of snow Sunday night into Monday morning. I planned to work from home since the roads were still pretty bad Monday morning. Then I found out that my office building had no phone or internet so it was a good thing that I didn’t try to drive there! In the afternoon I heard that Luke Perry passed away which made me so incredibly sad π I loved his acting and he always seemed like such a nice man.
I also had a dentist appointment that afternoon and as I walking into the office I dropped my phone and the screen completely shattered. This has NEVER happened to me before so to say I was pissed would be an understatement. I had to drive over to Verizon after my appointment and get a new phone (it would cost almost $200 to fix the screen so it was better just to get a new phone). I had my old phone for 2.5 years and I loved it. At least it was paid off so I guess that’s a good thing.
Tuesday, March 5
Spinning (60 mins) + core work (5 minutes).
I took two Hip-Hop spinning classes to start off my day. My office still didn’t have working phone or internet access so it was another work from home day.
Wednesday, March 6
Boot Camp (60 minutes).
Another great full body workout! Today was also Ash Wednesday which is the beginning of Lent. Every year I give up something that I love for Lent. This year it was between giving up social media or pizza. Honestly, social media is one of the things that keeps me sane and it’s a way for me to connect with others so I thought it would do more harm than good to give it up. Instead I gave up pizza. If you know me, you know this is going to be a struggle. I usually eat pizza 1-2x a week (90% of the time I make it at home so that it’s healthier). Pray for me!
Thursday, March 7
4 mile run + core work (10 mins).
My sinuses were completely going nuts which made the run difficult. I had to blow my nose numerous times just to breathe and get through the run. I guess allergy season is here? It’s just weird considering it was 5 degrees outside…
Friday, March 8
Rest Day!
Saturday, March 9
7 mile run + core work (5 minutes)
This run was a bit of a struggle. Did you know that margaritas the night before a run aren’t a good idea? LOL
Sunday, March 10
Spinning (45 minutes) + Core Workout (10 minutes)>
Total Weekly Mileage: 14 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 4 spinning classes and 1 strength training workout
Grade This Week β A-
I apologize for the lack of workout photos on this post. I noticed that a lot of my photos on IG are very similar so I’m trying to think of different types of workout photos I can share on there so that my feed doesn’t look so predictable/boring, LOL.
Even though this was a crazy week, I am happy with my workouts. I’m keeping up with my core workouts and trying to do at least 5 minutes of core exercises a day. I hope that I’ll start to feel a difference in a few weeks. I am definitely trying to get a six-pack, just trying to get stronger. This week I realized that I’ve been a little lax when it comes to my PT and foot exercises so I tried to make more of an effort to do both more regularly this week. I have a tendency to NOT do the exercises when things are feeling good but I know I need to get out of that mindset.
Earlier in the week I signed up for the Stamford City Challenge. This is an obstacle type race (very similar to Spartan Race) and since it’s going to be in my city, I jumped at the chance to sign up. Hopefully it will be a nice challenge for me to do this summer.
When is the last time you’ve had a crazy week?
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I have probably had more crazy weeks in 2019 than ever before due to the crazier than usual cold weather. Thankfully, I think weβre finally easing out of winter…. hoping this continues because Iβm craving some warmth. Thnx so much for joining us on the link-up <3
kookyrunner says
Agree! I would like a do-over on the the first part of 2019 lol.
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Oh bummer on the phone! I have done that before and now I have one of those glass protectors on mine. I drop it all the time everywhere. Hope you are enjoying your warmer weather this weekend. thanks for linking up
kookyrunner says
I guess I’ve been lucky that I’ve never broken a phone before, lol. I actually put a glass protector on my new phone so I hope that will save it from future accidents.
Wendy says
I got a new phone this week too! What did you get? Mine is the iPhoneXR. I’m still getting used to it. It’s much bigger than my old phone. I decided to buy it instead of leasing. Fortunately, my work will reimburse me since I take call.
I don’t mind fewer pictures in the posts. Quality over quantity, I say! I love your face in the morning after margaritas photo…lol
kookyrunner says
I got the iPhone 6s. I hate big phones so that was the smallest one that they had, lol.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
OMG, a Spartan-style race? Wow.Good luck with that!
The phone thing . . . ugh. I did that once right before a vacation. Sometimes you just hit it right & BOOM! Sucks though. Oh, and I hve the iphone 6s for the same reason. My only problem with it is it actually doesn’t connect well to Wifi. I think it’s an antenna thing, but haven’t wanted to go to a tore to get it fixed.
I could give up pizza for a while, I don’t eat it that often. But it’s supposed to be something hard for you — so good luck with that.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy! It should be fun and a challenge so I’m looking forward to it!
So far so good on the iphone 6s (knock on wood). It’s still bigger than my other phone but I’m learning to deal with it haha.
RenΓ©e says
I feel like I either have crazy weeks or boring weeks. The last couple have been fairly boring so maybe something exciting is going to happen soon to make it crazy???
you had a good week but what sh*t about your phone!!! AWFUL. It’s good you were able to get a new one. I guess not everyone is able to do that. I know I’d be robbing from Peter to pay Verizon Paul for a new phone right now (if we talk about crazy weeks as in getting unexpected bills left and right? then that would be us for the last couple weeks…)
Giving up pizza would be hard. I’m not sure I could do that LOL!! I will definitely pray for you and I’m not even religious!
kookyrunner says
I told my friend the other day that I would love a re-do of 2019. I just feel like this year, especially this month, has been a wee bit too crazy for me!
Even though I was pissed to break my phone, I knew I was lucky since it had already been paid off for months. At least I didn’t have to continue paying on it and have to pay for a new phone – that’s no fun!
Giving up pizza is going to be hard but I know I can do it!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
The snow ended up not being so bad for us on Sunday into Monday, fortunately. I wish we had the option to work from home but that’s way too modern for my company smh! I ended up catching a cold this week – at least I think it was a cold? Or maybe a sinus thing? I’m not sure! Sorry about your phone – I have to use an Otterbox or something similar because I ALWAYS drop my phone lol!
Good luck with giving up pizza! I couldn’t even think up anything to give up for Lent this year…
kookyrunner says
I was thinking of getting the Otterbox, I actually still might get it, but I found a case and screen protector on Amazon that I really liked so I got those instead.
Thanks for the well wishes! Fridays are usually my pizza days so this past Friday was a little rough but it will get better!
Marcia says
Yikes! Sorry about your phone. Enjoy the new one though! Allergies? How? What on earth is blooming? I wish something was. Haha! That had to suck for your work to have no internet but good for you to stay home.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia! The new phone is bigger than my last one but I’m getting used to it.
I have no clue what was gong on with my allergies on Thursday but it seems like it was a fluke as they have been much better since then.
Cari says
That pizza bitmoji is everything. Best of luck with that choice
I’m not the best with instagram, but you’ve hit on why I choose between blog or IG photo. Just not enough to vary them.
We had a WFH day Monday – so nice to work from couch occasionally but I don’t have the focus to do it daily
kookyrunner says
That pizza bitmoji is one of my favorites, lol.
Agree with what you said about WFH – I couldn’t do it everyday – way too many distractions. Plus, I prefer to interact with people in person.
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
I still have my iPhone SE and am terrified of dropping it – I don’t want to get a bigger phone! Good luck with giving up pizza! I am giving up peanut butter, but starting today after Expo West.
kookyrunner says
I wish I had purchased a spare one to have as a back up π I really loved the size of it, but the 6s isn’t that bad. I’m learning to deal with it, lol.
Coco says
I’ve smashed my phone twice. The last time was the morning before our vacation to Germany — luckily I was able to get a new phone before our evening flight. (I also am a holdout for the “older” model smaller phones. I need it to fit in a pocket. Crazy that your work systems were down — great that you could work at home. Now that have “sprung forward” I hope we get some nice spring weather.
kookyrunner says
It as funny because when I went to Verizon they assumed I would want one of the newer phones but I was like please either give me another SE or the 6s – i hate big phones, LOL
Zenaida Arroyo says
Bummer about that phone! I can’t get over how expensive they are. I’ve lost mine 2 or 3 times and cringe each time I have to pay. Not the full amount but more money than I would have liked to spend.
Each week is a crazy week for me! π
kookyrunner says
Same! There is no reason a phone should be $1,000+, that’s just crazy.
Liz Dexter says
Great work and well done on the core sessions, that’s sure to help all-round. I have smashed one phone and it was amazingly the one I really disliked! Funny seeing the same shoes here and somewhere else, whose post was that?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz!
Coco and I have the same Brooks Ravenna sneakers π
Kat says
God, shame what happened to your phone. That must really piss you. But it looks like you totally killed your workout week! You can always replace things, but not your body! π
kookyrunner says
That’s very true!
Shathiso says
There was a meme about people needing to be sensitive to ladies in their 30s – mid-40s as Luke Perry was our first pretend boyfriend. And I also read that he was a genuinely nice person – often helping others without ever expecting recognition/ publicity for it.
Definitely a crazy week for you, but you got so many workouts done! Well done π
kookyrunner says
Hell yes to that meme. I was so sad about it π I read the same thing about him being a very kind person.
Sandra D Laflamme says
Cheers to Margaritas. Sometimes you just have to live it up even if it means a mediocre run the next day. So sorry about your phone. that just plain stinks!
kookyrunner says
I agree! Plus there were so good – nothing beats a frozen margarita.
Chaitali says
Ugh, too bad about the phone π I hate changing phones too. I hope the transition goes smoothly! I’ve made that mistake with margaritas the night before a run too π But sometimes it’s worth it!
kookyrunner says
So far so good on the phone, although I do miss my previous phone because it was smaller.
Allie says
Wow! You really did have a crazy week!! My husband shattered his phone screen last week too – and that has never happened before. So weird. He loves his phone so much he paid $150 to fix the screen *eye roll*
Glad you were able to get some good workouts in and seriously good luck with giving up pizza!!! You are a better person than me π LOL!
kookyrunner says
I would had had to pay something similar to get the screen fixed so I figured I should just put that money toward a new phone. Plus my phone was 2.5 years old so I guess it was time to retire it π
I am looking forward to my first slice of pizza after Lent!
Darlene says
I have a screen protector on my phone. I’m pretty clumsy and drop it a lot.
A spartan type race – Pretty scary to me But good luck. Looking forward to hearing about it.
I could not give up pizza – just sayin. At least it’s only for Lent.
kookyrunner says
I now have a screen protector on my new phone – live and learn!
I can’t wait until Lent is over so I can eat pizza again, lol
Hannah says
I have shattered a phone screen before….the phone case I have now has a lip that’s a bit higher than the screen, so hopefully that will keep it from happening again. Because me never dropping my phone is out of the question!
Jenn says
Oh, your poor phone! I did that last winter – I think the cold temperatures make the glass more brittle. I ended up just replacing my entire phone as well.
Every week feels like it just gets crazier and crazier. All I can do is hold on and enjoy the ride.
Great workouts again. I wish you every luck with the no pizza thing.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jenn – I was so sad about my phone π But I am getting used to the new one now.
Thank you for wishing my luck on the pizza struggle…I can’t wait until Lent is over, lol
Esther says
Girl, that is a rough start to the week! I am so sorry about your phone! It is such a rip off that fixing the screen costs so much!
I hear ya on crazy weeks! The kids I nanny are on spring break and their grandma is on town! We are all off our normal schedule and it is making me feel so out of it.
Way to still rock your workouts!
kookyrunner says
LoL right?! Luckily the week got better as the days went on but it definitely didn’t start off great.
