Happy Sunday π I just have to go on record and say this week felt like a month – it was so long! For me I know it was because everyone was back to work which meant tons of calls and meetings. It was really nice to work without both of those things for 2 weeks!
So this week was all about getting back into a routine – meal prepping breakfast and lunches for work, evening workouts, etc. It was a busy week but a good week.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, January 6
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes) + 5 minute core workout.
I love starting off my week with OTF, especially when it’s a strength day!
Tuesday, January 7
Peloton Cycle (60 minutes) + 10 minute core workout.
I like to use cycle to get in a good cross training workout and to help flush out my legs.
Wednesday, January 8
6.2 mile run + 5 minute core workout.
I was originally planning on doing a mini brick workout (cycle + run) but I felt good after 3 miles so decided to go for more. I ended up running a 10K thanks to the treadmill classes that I took on my Peloton app.
I dedicated my 10K to #RunForAustralia. All of the proceeds go to the Australian Red Cross and the New South Wales Rural Fire Service. You can click here for more details (today is the last day to participate).
Thursday, January 9
Orangetheory Fitness – Endurance (60 minutes) + 5 minute core workout.
This workout was a beast! The treadmill was a 1 mile run followed by a 800m row, then a half mile run followed by a 400m and so on. The floor block was all about tons of weights, TRX moves and then the dreaded ab dolly. Yikes!
Friday, January 10
Orangetheory Fitness – Strength (60 minutes) + 5 minute core workout.
I don’t know what was up with my heart rate for this class (I’m normally not in the red zone that much), but I guess my body didn’t like all of the inclines. On the floor we did a lot of pistol squats, lunges and regular squats. My legs/booty were feeling the burn.
Saturday, January 11
3.1 mile run + 10 minute core workout.
I was lucky to get in 3.1 miles as my legs were totally shot from Friday’s workout.
Sunday, January 12
OrangeTheory Fitness – ESP (60 minutes) + core workout (5 minutes).
Crazy class this morning! It was an ESP day which means endurance, strength and power. The treadmill block had 10, yes 10 ALL OUTS – a surefire way to get my heart rate into the red zone. I was exhausted but I did hit an all out PR which made me smile. The floor block alternated between heavy weight and short rowing blocks. I literally couldn’t stop sweating.
Total Weekly Mileage: 18 miles
Summary: 2 runs, 2 cycle classes and 4 OTF workouts
Grade This Week β A
I ran every day this week except Tuesday and I don’t think my legs appreciated that too much! Even though most of the runs were under 3 miles, my legs still feel pretty achy. I didn’t have a rest day, so maybe that’s why? I’m going to use my recovery boots tonight and hope those help.
I also received the prize pack from FitApproach for completing the #holidaysweat challenge last month. I was so impressed by all of the swag and can’t wait to test everything out!
And to end my post on a funny note, this is my new favorite baby yoda meme LOL
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Well done for getting all your workouts in despite a busy week! Conf calls and meetings…. ah, back to the old routine!
Love that little yoda meme. That’s how I felt today at a wine tasting. Stop talking so I can drink the wine!
Have a good week, Kim!
kookyrunner says
I mean I do like a routine to a certain extent, but I could do without a day filled with conference calls!
Hope you have a great week too! π
Marcia says
OMG that Baby Yoda meme is SO funny and SO true! Haha!
I am always so impressed how you can run after having your legs wrecked at OTF. I don’t think I could endure it.
And yes: Last week lasted FOR EVER!
kookyrunner says
LOL right?! I laughed so hard when I saw it!
My legs this week are not really happy with me but I’m going to give them some TLC tonight.
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
A very solid week for you Kim! Getting back to a routine is never easy after the holidays. Have a great week ahead
kookyrunner says
Thanks Deborah!
melissa says
Ugh, I feel you with the busy week! Great job still getting it in. Last week was tough here too – I ended up putting in 60 hours! I’m zonked. Hoping this week things get back to normal. I’m impressed with all the working out you’re able to find time to do!
kookyrunner says
Wow 60 hours is rough! I think I probably did around 50 this week. It would have been more but I have a rule that I don’t ever check my work email on the weekends. It’s for my own sanity lol
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Looks like you had a good week of workouts, Kim. Way to crush the New Year!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Debbie!
Jessie says
Love all your baby yoda memes π So cute. You fit in a tough this week, no wonder it felt like a month!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! I really hope this week goes by quicker.
The baby yoda memes keep me laughing which I appreciate, lol.
Wendy says
Since I only work part-time, it was a little less painful to ease back into the routine! I did get a little confused on Monday when I showed up for bootcamp and it was CF–no biggie, but SJ had a good laugh!
So good for you doing the miles for Australia!
kookyrunner says
LOL π I think many of us were getting the days confused for a few weeks but at least now we’re back on track.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
That Baby Yoda meme made me giggle π
Good grief today’s OTF sounds like another killer workout – 10 allouts?! It makes me kinda glad I didn’t get off the waitlist today LOL.
kookyrunner says
haha – right?! He’s just so cute so any meme with him makes me laugh out loud
OTF today was off the wall crazy. When I first heard 10 all outs I was like “how and why?” LOL
Hannah says
You did great keeping up with all those workouts during a busy week! I notice I tend to get achy muscles more during busy weeks – it’s like all the accumulation of physical + mental fatigue ends up in my legs somehow. Hope your recovery time tonight helps!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Hannah. I think you’re so right about the accumulation of everything combines with no rest days. I plan on giving my legs some TLC tonight.
Kimberly Hatting says
What a great week! I saw all your workouts, but it didn’t register that there was so much running! Yeah, that may be a factor in your fatigue π I love seeing all your OTF achievements π
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin!
Darlene says
What a busy week. I donβt know how you fit it all in.
You are so dedicated to OTf. Very inspiring.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Darlene! I have really found a new passion with OTF.
Coco says
Oh, wow, I did a 3G on Thursday, so after the mile we did 90 second recovery then alternating one min all-out with one min recovery. On the rower we did 1600M/800M/400M with 25 power jacks in between. :- P
This week was so wierd from me, since I worked in the office Jan 2 + 3, then traveled/worked Sat-Tues, then sort of had Wed βoffβ to travel home, then back in the office Thurs and Fri. This coming week I have so many conference calls booked already!
kookyrunner says
Okay wow so that 3G sounds equally as painful as the 2G. I don’t know who designed that template but it was brutal lol
Liz Dexter says
A good strong week – that’s amazing. All that work and sweat!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Its so hard to get back to work after the holidays! I was traveling at the end of last week so I still dont feel like Im back to a routine. Great job getting in al those workouts! Hopefully the recovery boots help your legs.
kookyrunner says
Traveling always has a way of throwing everything off!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
That is a lot of OTF & a lot of running! I know my HR goes up with inclines (even little ones) and down with declines. I love declines . . .
I think I really need to participate more in Sweat Pink this year!
Sounds like your year is off to a great start, Kim!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I think my HR is just really affected by inclines. It was a little concerning to see it high that long on the chart but I know that’s just temporary.
Chaitali says
You had a great week and a lot of variety with the workouts! I’ve been loving all the baby yoda memes, they make me laugh every time π
kookyrunner says
The baby yoda memes are the best since there are so many of them lol
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I was one of those people that avoided the office for the holidays because my kids had winter break. I’m not sure what excuse I can come up with after they are in college! haha! Wait, I think it will still apply, so I’ve got a few more years. Luckily I have very few meetings, but at our office it seems like some people spend their whole week in meetings! I consider myself lucky π
Great week in workouts!
kookyrunner says
Yup! I know some people that will literally have meetings from the time they walk in until the time they leave – it’s so crappy π
Jenn says
Look at you with all the OTF and running and Peloton! Go girl!
So I confess this: i was having a really down week and at one point I started sobbing because the koalas need mittens for their burned paws and I’m sitting here without knowing how to knit. My heart breaks for Australia. π
kookyrunner says
Oh I totally get it! I heard the same thing about the koalas and that really broke my heart π
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
lol baby yoda. Last week was a really tough one for work, and more than ever it makes me appreciate my workouts. Getting sweaty really knocks the stress levels down.
kookyrunner says
Yes, totally agree! My workouts were the highlight of my days last week because work was so crazy.
Shathiso says
That meme is fantastic! It’s so me! I never want to be rude and interrupt but I always know exactly what I’m having, LOL! What a super week for you! I love Christmas but I always like getting back into my routine.
kookyrunner says
lol i love that meme too!
RenΓ©e says
way to go getting back at it! Holy running and OTF though – no wonder your legs were toast! I had yet another “off” week, but fingers crossed my brain is finally in the right place. It’s always the way since Ron’s birthday is so soon after the holidays!
I think I’m the only one who doesn’t really get the baby yoda jokes… (no I haven’t seen the Star Wars movie yet…)
Love the swag you got! Nice!
kookyrunner says
I didn’t run last night and my legs were so much happier this morning when I woke up. I really needed the break!
Angela Campos says
Great job on your week Kim! I am struggling to get back into a routine after a very busy holiday season!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Angela!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I get tired just reading all of your workouts. How do you do it all? π That prize pack looks amazing!! I need to make sure to sign up the next time there is a challenge.
kookyrunner says
LOL some days I am tired but I love the endorphins I get from my workouts!
