Happy Sunday. I hope that everyone had a great week!
Here’s a rundown of my workouts from this week:
Monday, May 10
Peloton WHM Celebration Run 3/6/20 – Andy (30 minutes)
Peloton AHM: Pop Ride 5/27/20 – Tunde (20 minutes)
Peloton AHM Celebration Ride 5/27/20 – Emma (20 minutes)
Peloton AHM Celebration Ride 5/28/20 – Christine (20 minutes)
Peloton Focus Flow: Hips 4/20/21 – Kristin (10 minutes)
I really enjoyed this WHM Celebration Run from 2020. Sometimes Andy can talk a lot during runs but this time I enjoyed all of his stories as they focused on phenomenal female athletes at the Olympics. As a former gymnast, I particularly loved when he spoke about the USA Women’s team at the 1996 Olympics. Little known fact about me – I’m obsessed with the Summer Olympics and will watch as many live events as possible – no matter the time of day or event.
Tuesday, May 11
Peloton AHM Run: Live From Home 5/12/20- Becs (30 minutes)
Peloton Chest & Back Strength 7/4/19 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton AHM: Power Zone Endurance 5/28/20 – Matt (30 minutes)
Peloton AT’s Ride to Greatness: Game 2 5/1/21 – Alex (20 minutes)
Peloton Focus Flow: Floor Poses 4/20/21 – Ross (10 minutes)
I picked a little bit of everything to take classes with a bunch of different instructors. The chest & back strength class was really good! There was a great mix of different upper body movements and the 20 minutes went by so quickly. I’ve also been loving the 10 minute yoga classes – quick but efficient.
Tuesday was a great day because my dad is finally home! After two weeks in the rehab facility, we were able to bring him home. He still has a long road ahead of him, and he’ll have someone come to the house a few times a week to do physical therapy with him, but he’s getting stronger everyday.
Wednesday, May 12
Peloton 90’s Walk 5/4/21 – Jess (30 minutes)
Peloton AHM Celebration Ride 5/30/20 – Sam (30 minutes)
Peloton AHM Celebration Ride 5/26/20 – Kendall (30 minutes)
Decided to skip my planned run for the day due to a cranky leg. You can never go wrong with a 90’s playlist for a Jess Sims class. I ended up having a great power walk during that class.
Thursday, May 13
Peloton BHM: Afrobeats Bootcamp 2/12/21 – Adrian (45 minutes)
Peloton Scenic Bahrain Run (10 minutes)
Peloton Herbert Gronemeyer Ride 4/21/21 – Erik (30 minutes)
I had a blast during the Afrobeats bootcamp. I’ve done an Afrobeats ride with Tunde and loved the vibe of the music so I knew I would enjoy the bootcamp. Also, it didn’t hurt that Adrian displayed a few dance moves during the class, lol. He can do no wrong in my book 🙂 I also use the Bahrain scenic run as a nice cool down walk after the bootcamp.
Friday, May 14
Peloton Y2K Fun Run 12/25/18 – Jess (20 minutes)
Peloton Extra Mile 7/8/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton BLACKPINK HIIT Cardio 5/13/21 – Olivia (20 minutes)
Peloton BLACKPINK Ride 5/12/21 – Ally (30 minutes)
Peloton BLACKPINK Power Yoga 5/13/21 – Ross (30 minutes)
I’ll admit that I don’t know any Blackpink songs but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed these workouts.
Friday was also my mom’s last day of work and she is now officially retired! Originally she was going to retire at the end of the school year but decided to retire a little earlier so she could help with my dad’s recovery. I have been wanting her to retire for years so I’m thrilled for her.
Saturday, May 15
Peloton Pre-Run Warm Up 12/27/18 – Jess (10 minutes)
Peloton Turkey Burn Fun Run 11/22/18 – Matt (45 minutes)
Peloton Mother’s Day Barre 5/9/21 – Hannah (30 minutes)
This was my first outdoor run in weeks. My allergies have been horrendous so I didn’t want to risk running outside to make them worse. I think the 45 minute run was the perfect amount of time for the run. Anything longer and I would have been sneezing and coughing for the rest of the day, but I did take a Zyrtec when I got back home. Doing the barre class after the run probably wasn’t the best idea but it was a good class.
It was also my dad’s birthday! After what he went through last month, I’m just so thankful that we were able to celebrate another birthday with him this year.
Sunday, May 16
Peloton Two For One Mother’s Day Ride 5/9/21 – Alex & Jenn (45 minutes)
Peloton Club Bangers Ride 5/2/21 – Alex (30 minutes)
Peloton APIHM Arms & Light Weights 5/15/21 – Sam (10 minutes)
Peloton HIIT Cardio 5/2/21 – Adrian (20 minutes)
Peloton Gluts & Legs Stretch 10/30/19 – Jess (10 minutes)
I heard that the Mother’s Day ride was good – I’m so glad I bookmarked it to take today. Not only was it a good class, but the love and respect between AT and Jenn was great to see. I’m convinced that Sam wanted my arms to fall off during the arms & light weights class! It’s amazing how much of a burn you can feel in just 10 minutes using lighter weights. I enjoyed the HIIT cardio class but it felt more like a strength class to me.
Total Weekly Mileage: 13.1 miles
Summary: 7 runs*, 1 bootcamps, 11 cycle, 3 yoga and 5 strength/HIIT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 266/267
Lots of positive things this week, so I can’t help but feel thankful! I’m so happy that my mom is now retired and that she can enjoy her free time. I think she is nervous about having a lot of free time now but I already know that she will find ways to stay busy. We had a low-key birthday celebration for my dad. It’s so nice to have him home and I can tell he is so happy to be home too. This month I’m also celebrating 10 years at my job. I knew my work anniversary was coming up, but I was still surprised to get this paperweight in the mail. It’s funny because when I started back in May 2011 I told myself I would probably be there 2 years, maybe 3 years at the most – LOL.
When I saw this come across my email earlier this week I just rolled my eyes. This is a slippery slope. I can already see people who are not vaccinated taking advantage of this just so that they don’t have to wear masks indoors. I’ll continue to wear my mask indoors.
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
In Case You Missed It
Tuesday Topics: Least Favorite Running Outfits or Costumes
Congrats to your mom! yay for celebrating your dad’s birthday at home with him. So glad he is feeling better You really got in a great mix of workouts this week. You inspire me to try new ones. Loving the hips yoga flows right now
Thanks Deborah! I’m glad that you get get new workout ideas from my weekly wrap – I love to hear that! 🙂
Happy Birthday to your dad! And Happy Retirement to you mom- was she a teacher? She must be extra-happy to retire after this year!
Love the memes as always- yes, I think the CDC just gave up. But Covid protocol has been controversial since day one- why change now?
Great week of workouts as always!
Thanks Jenny! My mom wasn’t a teacher but she was the assistant to the middle school principal. She worked at the school for many years and they gave her a very nice send off 🙂
So true about the Covid protocol being controversial since day 1 – some states never even adopted the mask mandate.
Congrats to your mom! This is such good timing, with your dad recovering from his illness. I’m glad he’s doing better too. I do love those Nothing Bundt Cakes! Especially the little cupcake ones.
I’m with you on the masks–I’ll still be wearing mine at work and at the store. I like not getting sick!!!
That meme of the bedding in the field made me sneeze…lol
Yes, such good timing! We’re newly obsessed with Nothing Bundt Cakes – they are so so good.
Same here – I’m #teammask all day, every day. I’m sure I’ll see some people here walking around in stores without a mask but I’m fine to keep wearing mine.
Congratulations to your mom! Perfect timing that she can help with your dad’s recovery. I hope he continues to improve. It’s wonderful that you are there with them too.
10 years! I didn’t know you work at Thomson Reuters, though I knew you had Minneapolis colleagues! (Or is the office actually in one of the suburbs here?)
When you do the barre classes at home, what do you use for your barre? The studio I’m going to has zoom classes for all their classes, so I might try it at home.
The TR campus is in Eagan, so not too far from Minneapolis. They are re-opening the office in a hybrid model starting in July. I’m curious to see how that goes for my colleagues there.
When I do the barre classes I hold onto the edge of a table. It’s been working okay so far.
So much to celebrate Kim! I’m so glad your dad is home and doing well and congrats to your mom on her retirement. The birthday celebration looks like a fun one. So funny about your 10 year anniversary at a job you thought you’d be at for a couple of years. I agree with you the allergies are really bad this year. Yikes!
Thanks Marcia! It was a great weekend and the weather was picture perfect too.
So much great news here! Congrats to your mom! And so happy your Dad is home now — that’s the best medicine. Happy birthday to him, too!
Thanks Judy! I was feeling very happy and blessed this weekend, that’s for sure.
How wonderful to have your dad back home with you! I hope his physical therapy goes well and he’s back to feeling normal again soon! And congrats to your mom on her retirement. I’m sure she’ll find plenty to keep herself busy!
I was thrilled to see the CDC and our governor lift the mask mandate. In fact, I just visited our butcher’s shop and since they’d removed the mask sign and I’m three weeks post my second vaccination, I felt totally safe not wearing mine. If someone who hasn’t been vaccinated wants to skip wearing their mask, it’s on them because in our area, vaccinations are finally readily available.
Thanks Deb! It was a busy but great weekend and I’m glad to have my dad home too. He was in the hospital for a little over a month so I know he was happy to be home too 🙂
Oh, Kim!!!!! SO much to celebrate 😉 Awesome news about your father, and just in time for his birthday. Huge CoNgRaTs to Mom! I don’t think it’s an accident when all kinds of good things play out with perfect timing. And, how did I not know you were a former gymnast???? You’ve been withholding LOL (I agree with you, I LOVE the summer Olympics, too, and try to catch as much of the live action as I’m able, especially the gymnastics!!).
I think you’re 100% right about the timing! The last month has been a nightmare so it felt nice to have something to celebrate this weekend. I can’t believe that I never disclosed that I was a gymnast, lol.
Great week with all your good news. Congrats to your mom and so happy about your dad’s recovery.
I got both my vaccines so I’m ok with no masks. But why is everyone not getting their vaccines??? NYS still has the mask mandate for indoors.
CT still has the mask mandate for indoors but I think that’s changing next week. I know for people like my mom with severe allergies, they just don’t feel confident to get the vaccine yet. There’s a real chance she could go into anaphylactic shock so she’s holding off on getting it. She will of course still wear her mask everywhere but I worry about the unvaccinated people that will go around unmasked.
Congrats to your Mom! I’m sure she will enjoy her retirement more than she thinks. And I am so glad to hear your Dad is home. That is SUCH good news! Wow, it must have been so good to celebrate his birthday with him at home. Yay on your 10 year anniversary! I’m going on 30 years at my law firm (minus the 2 years I clerked for a judge after law school). It’s CRAZY, but I started when my now 30-year old daughter was 1 …..
I hadn’t heard BlankPink before, but do like their sound. I’ll have to try that ride.
I sure hope so! She has a hard time sitting still but I hope that she will find a new routine that allows for more rest as she deserves it. It’s crazy how much time flies – I still can’t believe I’ve been with my job for 10 years.
So much to celebrate!! Great news that your dad is home and continuing to make good progress! Happy birthday to him and happy retirement to your mom! And congrats on your 10 year work anniversary.
I had no idea you are a former gymnast! I am obsessed with the Summer Olympics too and am really looking forward to the games.
I agree with you on the whole mask mandate switch – makes me very nervous that we’re going to be left to rely on people following the honor system.
Thanks so much Michelle! It felt nice to have some celebrations this weekend after a hard month. It was much appreciated and welcomed lol. Love that you are also obsessed with the Summer Olympics! There’s just something about seeing the best athletes in the world compete.
If the pandemic taught me anything it’s that people really aren’t as honest as we would hope – that’s the man reason I’m not cool with lifting the mask mandate indoors.
I have missed your memes!
So much to celebrate! Congratulations on 10 years at work! And I am so glad you dad is home and your mom is able to care for him. Congratulations to her on her retirement as well! Such great things!
Hope your allergies feel better soon!
Thanks so much Jenn! It was a busy weekend but a fun weekend too 🙂
awesome news about your mom’s retirement. I’m sure she’ll figure out how to spend her time! Happy birthday to your dad too! Here’s to a recovered new trip around the sun! And congrats on your job anniversary! I left Starbucks 7 years ago and I never thought I would make it a year at my new job due to the “challenges” I faced. That and actually wondering how to live life after SBUX. It was the best company to work for but kind of a cult-like feeling when you leave it. Amazing how things work out, right?
love the formal baby meme HAHAHAHA!
My mom is enjoying retirement so far and loves that she doesn’t have a set schedule. At some point I know she will want more structure but for now it’s working well.
It always amazes me how things work out when it comes to jobs. I know so many people that thought they had the perfect job and then leave after a year. You just never know what you’re in store for.
That baby meme still makes me laugh, LOL.
So many great things to celebrate this week! Congrats to your mom! Let her know I am so happy and jealous. I do wish I could retire you. Happy Birthday to your dad! I remember feeling very happy last year celebrating her birthday. Congrats to you too!!!
thanks! It was a busy weekend so I’m looking forward to an upcoming lowkey weekend.
