Happy Sunday! Also, happy Easter and Passover! I hope that everyone had an awesome week.
Here’s how my workouts went this week:
Monday, April 15
Spinning (Tabata – 20 minutes / Pop – 30 minutes).
I started a 4 week Tabata training program with Peloton. The goal is to feel stronger on the bike after completion of the program. I’ll be doing 4 rides each week.
Tuesday, April 16
3 mile run + Strength Training (30 minutes)
The run went well (much better than the run I had on the previous Saturday). I really pushed it during strength training and my arms were toast by the end of the 30 minutes. I focused on upper body for the whole workout.
Wednesday, April 17
Boot Camp (60 minutes).
This class felt hard since my arms still felt like jello after Tuesday’s upper body workout, but luckily I pushed through!
Thursday, April 18
4 mile run + Hip Hop Spinning (30 minutes)
Both workouts felt great! I love that I can complete my workouts early in the morning on Thursdays since I work from home that day.
I was also super excited because Thursday was the last day of Lent and I was finally able to enjoy a glorious pizza!
Friday, April 19
Spinning (20 minutes)
As part of the Tabata training plan, one of the spinning classes is a 20 minute easy ride, so I decided to do that on my typical rest day since it wasn’t too strenuous.
Saturday, April 20
7 mile run
This was my last “longish” run before the Delaware Running Festival half marathon next Sunday. My training hasn’t exactly been great but this run was a good confidence booster.
Sunday, April 21
Spinning (60 minutes) + Strength Training (20 minutes)
That 45 minute tabata spinning class was so insanely hard. I was sweating and cursing all at the same time, but I did it! I followed it up with a 15 minute easy spinning class to flush out my legs. For strength training I focused on chest and back.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 6 spinning classes and 3 strength training workouts
Grade This Week β A
Luckily I bounced back pretty well after not feeling 100% last week. My allergies were under control this week which really seemed to help. We got a lot of rain this week which I think might have washed away some of the pollen. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this continues!
As I mentioned in the beginning of the post, I started a training program this week. It’s a 4 week tabata training program with Robin from Peloton. What is tabata? It’s an interval training method with a 2:1 work to rest ratio. She’s one of my favorite instructors so it’s an honor to get my butt kicked by her, lol. The goal is to feel stronger on the bike once the 4 weeks is complete and to also increase my overall output on the bike.
Next weekend I’ll be in Delaware to run my 40th half marathon!I can hardly believe that the girl who hated running is going to be hitting this milestone. Never say never π
That’s it! I hope you had a great week π
Iβm linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

That Tabata workout is going to make you stronger and will improve your endurance. I did a computrainer class a few years ago and we did a lot of those. Wow!
Glad your allergies are improving. This morning on my bike ride, my nose wouldn’t stop running! I need Claritin, stat!
kookyrunner says
That’s good to hear – I’m hoping that my endurance and legs feel much stronger after the 4 weeks are up!
Shathiso says
I know you’ve been waiting patiently for that pizza! π Solid week and so glad you were feeling better – it makes such a difference. There is nothing better than a confidence boosting last long run before a race!
kookyrunner says
Haha that pizza was calling my name and it was so good!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I am curious to hear how you like the new type of spin classes. It is always fun to mix it up on the bike. Yay for yummy pizza! Sounds like you are ready for your half next weekend! Happy Easter
kookyrunner says
Definitely! I’ll do a blog post about it once the 4 weeks are up. I was honestly cursing while doing half the ride today because my legs were on fire!
Coco says
Your 40th Half??? That is amazing. And quite an accomplishment. I hope your good long run is a good omen — and that the weather cooperates too. That pizza does look delish!
kookyrunner says
I haven’t even checked the weather for next weekend yet, lol. Part of me is scared it will say rain since we’ve had so much run lately.
Marcia says
6 spin classes for the week? You are my hero! Those tabata workouts on the bike are going to payoff for you big time. And yes that is a glorious pie!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia! The tabata workouts are on a whole other level but I’m very much loving the challenge.
Kimberly Hatting says
You are gonna be busy (but that will keep you out of trouble, right?) LOL I have a few weeks until my next running event, which is a team relay (which I”ll be treating as training miles, so no pacing goals, etc.). I’m ready for some down-time from racing, and my body is gonna get some major TLC. That pizza…I could almost taste it through the screen! Thanks for linking on the WRD!
kookyrunner says
I think you have more than earned some downtime from racing – you’ve had a super busy Spring!
Jessie says
40th half! That’s so cool.
OMG, that pizza…drooling.
Glad your allergies are under control now!
The Ryan Gosling memes always work π
kookyrunner says
haha so true! You can never, ever go wrong with a Ryan meme π
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
That Tabata challenge sounds intense – I’m sure you’ll see big benefits!
40th half?! – Wow, that is quite a milestone!
kookyrunner says
I sure hope so! All this hard work better pay off, lol
Zenaida Arroyo says
That pizza looks so good!
My training hasn’t been going well either so maybe we can run together on Sunday?
kookyrunner says
That pizza was so good! Let’s talk about Sunday this weekend.
Melissa says
Yes that pizza looks amazing. Looove a good thin crust!
Glad uou are feeling somewhat better this week. I’m impressed with all your spinning +
kookyrunner says
Me too! Although I do enjoy deep dish whenever I go to Chicago π
Darlene says
4 rides…wow. I bet you will be stronger.
That pizza looks amazing…perfect except for the onions.
Good luck on the half. Sometimes the ones you don’t do well in the training, you do well in the race.
kookyrunner says
I sure hope so – the program is going to kick my butt but in a good way π
I wasn’t a fan of regular white onions on my pizza, but the red onions are pretty good!
Lesley says
That workout sounds insane! Great job getting to 40 halfs (halves?). Enjoy your pizza π
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much!
Debbie says
You’re so dedicated to your spinning! That Tabata program sounds so hard! Great workout week!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Debbie!
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
I love tabata workouts – will this goal of strength kick off a bike race/tri later in the year? I always love ending on a confidence boost in the long run before a race. How cool that it will be your 40th! I hope to get there one day π
kookyrunner says
It’s funny – I love spinning but I don’t own a road bike π I really should look into that though!
Chaitali says
I’m glad to hear you were feeling better this week! We had some rain too, and I agree it feels like it helped with the pollen. Good luck with the race π
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Chaitali.

Strong week Kim and good to have the allergies at bay! I can’t wait to get back to spinning! I miss it almost as much as running!
kookyrunner says
I will be cheering for you virtually when you get back to running and spinning π
I’m so happy that your foot is healing nicely!
Allie says
I absolutely LOVE tabata training and it will absolutely make you stronger and increase your endurance. I can’t wait to see the results and how much you love it. Speaking of…I LOVE that tank. OMG the best!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Allie! I am really looking forward to seeing how much I improve over the next month.
Jenn says
I love all the spin classes you have access to! It’s so awesome to have that kind of variety!
I’m so glad your allergies are under control, too. I am worried because the weather has gotten cold again, which means the pollen is going to return and I felt like everyone in the house was finally feeling better. Oh, well π
kookyrunner says
Agreed! I love that I can pick from all different instructors and music.
The Accidental Marathoner says
It sounds like you had a great week and I am glad you are feeling better. That pizza looks amazing and I’m sure you enjoyed every bit of it. I gave up wine for Lent but unfortunately I broke about midway through. I am seriously thinking of getting a Peloton bike. I’m not sure I would have room in my workout room.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Linda! I very much enjoyed my pizza lol
You know how I feel about the Peloton bike! It’s really a great investment considering the number of classes I take on it.
Cari says
That Tabata training looks insane/amazing. Or both
I love the pizza shirt. Congrats on surviving Lent. Funny how everyone considers Lent over at a certain time
kookyrunner says
It’s definitely insane and amazing all at the same time, lol.
