Happy Sunday, and Happy Father’s Day. This year I’m beyond thankful to celebrate this day with my dad after his medical ordeal in March/April. I’ll be showering him with extra hugs today for sure.

Pride Run: Live From Home 6/15/20 – Olivia (30 minutes)
Core Strength 5/1/21 – Olivia (10 minutes)
Pride: Listening Party 6/16/20 – Emma (30 minutes)
Pride Ride 7/9/20 – Erik (30 minutes)
Post-Ride Stretch 10/8/18 – Matt (5 minutes)
Still continuing with a bunch of Pride classes this month. I enjoyed all the classes but I’m convinced that Olivia was trying to kill me during that core class. Unfortunately my bike malfunctioned again at the end of Erik’s ride. I had all my stats – miles, output, etc until the end of the ride and then everything went back down to 0. This is the second time it’s happened this month so I was pretty annoyed. I hate to call Peloton customer service because it’s not a hardware issue, it’s definitely a technology issue. Hopefully I can do some troubleshooting to fix it.
Tuesday, June 15
Core Strength 6/9/21 – Jess (10 minutes)
Pride Celebration Run 6/15/21 – Matt (20 minutes)
Pride Run 6/23/20 – Adrian (20 minutes)
WHM: Full Body Strength 3/26/21 – Rebecca (45 minutes)
Hips Stretch 10/29/18 – Matt (5 minutes)
Pride Celebration Power Yoga 6/15/21 – Aditi (20 minutes)
I decided to do a quick core workout before my run to help activate my core. I’ve been having some lower back pain (probably from sitting too long at my desk during the workday) so I want to focus on activating my core more before starting my runs. I decided to do a live run at 7am to celebrate my 200th run – no shoutout from Matt, but thanks to Michelle and Cari for joining me! Initially I wasn’t pleased that the class had a country music playlist, but I’ll admit that it wasn’t too awful. The playlist featured LGBTQ+ country music artists so I thought that was pretty unique.
I hate to say this, but the strength class really wasn’t good. I rarely dislike classes but this one was unstructured. The second set of exercises were more like gymnastics/contortionist moves and I didn’t see what they had to do with strength training. We didn’t do any moves with weights until the last 20 minutes of class and during that portion she took 2 minute dance breaks. I ended up pretty much doing my own thing to get in a good workout. It was just odd and I was surprised because I normally LOVE her classes! I did the yoga class later on in the day.
Wednesday, June 16
Hike 6/15/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Pride Celebration Run 6/12/21 – Becs (20 minutes)
Pride Celebration Ride 6/14/21 – Kendall (20 minutes)
Pride Ride 6/20/20 – Kendall (30 minutes)
Post-Ride Stretch 3/1/19 – Matt (5 minutes)
Sam Smith Yoga Flow 6/16/21 – Aditi (30 minutes)
This was a pretty basic stack for me between the running and cycle classes. The yoga class at the end of the day was great as it provided an additional stretch for my lower body. I still modify a lot when I do yoga but I still feel the benefits from it.
Thursday, June 17
Pride Celebration Core Strength 6/15/21 – Olivia (20 minutes)
Pride Celebration Run 6/9/21 – Olivia (30 minutes)
Pride: 80s Ride 6/2/21 – Leanne (30 minutes)
Post-Ride Stretch 6/7/19 – Matt (5 minutes)
Premiere Full Body Strength 6/16/21 – Rad (30 minutes)
This workout was a strength sandwich with the run and cycle classes mixed in. Surprisingly Olivia’s core class didn’t hurt as much as the 10 minute class earlier in the week. Her Pride run was also really great too. Rad is one of two new Peloton strength instructors. I couldn’t do his premiere class live but still wanted to fit it in this week. I really enjoyed the class and his personality. His classes will definitely be added to my rotation.
Friday, June 18
Core Strength 3/22/21 – Irene (10 minutes)
Big Freedia Run 6/18/21 – Adrian (30 minutes)
Big Freedia Ride 6/16/21 – Jess K. (30 minutes)
Arms & Shoulders Strength 6/16/21 – Rad (10 minutes)
Pride HIIT Cardio 6/18/21 – Jess (20 minutes)
Full Body Stretch 11/20/18 – Chase (5 minutes)
The Big Freedia classes were good, especially the run. She is responsible for making the New Orleans genre of hip hop called bounce music very popular and more mainstream. It’s a really fun genre of music with great beats – I took a few dance breaks on the treadmill, lol. I took another quick strength class with Rad and loved it – especially his playlist. The HIIT cardio class was spicy! Jess introduced a new way to torture us by playing a new game called “and then”. Basically you start off with one move and then you keep adding a new move to the existing move. It was rough but it was a nice way to celebrate my 50th HIIT cardio class and I even got a shoutout from Jess.
Saturday, June 19
Orangetheory Fitness – Power (60 minutes)
Core Strength 6/15/21 – Callie (10 minutes)
Juneteenth Ride 6/18/21 – Alex (30 minutes)
Post-Ride Stretch 9/10/19 – Tunde (5 minutes)
Core Strength 3/22/21 – Irene (10 minutes)
First day back at OTF! My last class was April 1 so I was nervous about how it would feel, especially with a 60 minute class vs a 45 minute class, but it was fine. It’s kind of like riding a bike I guess – no matter how long it’s been, it’s not too hard to get back in the saddle. The class was hard but I still enjoyed it a lot – it felt good to be back.
Sunday, June 20
Orangetheory Fitness – ESP (45 minutes)
Juneteenth Ride 6/18/21 – Ally (20 minutes)
Juneteenth Full Body Strength 6/18/21 – Adrian (30 minutes)
Another great OTF class, and it made me realize that I think I prefer the 45 minute classes because the blocks are more intense since you have to fit more into a short amount of time. I also took two more of the Peloton Juneteenth classes which I really enjoyed as well.
Total Weekly Mileage: 14.5 miles
Summary: 8 runs*, 8 cycle, 2 yoga and 13 OTF/strength/HIIT classes.
*I include running from my OTF workouts, boot camp classes and stand alone runs.
Peloton Artist Series Classes Progress – 291/292
I mentioned this before, but I think my recent lower back pain is coming from sitting too long during the workday. This week I tried to get up from my desk more, even if it was just to walk around my room or up and down the stairs. I also sprinkled in some 5 minute HIIT cardio classes randomly during the day which not only gets me moving, but also provides a nice burst of energy as well.
…and now for this week’s memes
That’s it! I hope you had a great week 🙂
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

The amount of classes you do continues to astound me! You’re amazing! I appreciate all the detailed info about who is good and who is not so good, too.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Liz! Always happy to share my thoughts on certain classes 🙂
Jenny says
Happy Father’s Day to you and your Dad! Definitely an extra-special one.
Love the memes as always. The wifi one reminds me of a trip we went on to a fairly remote area, where we lost access to wifi and didn’t have enough data on our phones. The problem was, all the maps, directions, and names of our campsite, etc. were inaccessible to us! Yes, it was like driving a covered wagon across the prairie.
Great week of workouts as usual!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Jenny! It was a great Father’s Day and I was so happy to spend it with my dad, especially this year.
Oh man, that wifi fiasco sounds like a disaster!
Michelle D. says
Good to hear that you liked Rad’s classes – I want to check him out this week.
Sounds like a successful return to OTF! I figured you get back into it without missing a beat.
A big Happy Father’s Day to your dad- so glad he’s doing better and you are able to celebrate this day with him!
kookyrunner says
It doesn’t hurt that Rad is nice to look at while working out, lol. I was pleasantly surprised that going back to OTF felt great but boy is my body sore right now after going two days in a row!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Running 7 days a week is nothing to what you do. 🙂 I love how you continue to do a variety of classes. How awesome that you got a shoutout from Jess.! Congrats on the 200th ride! What a bummer about the bike. But do call them since I am sure it is a simple fix. Hugs to your dad! I can imagine how much more meaningful this day must be.
kookyrunner says
I was so happy to get a shoutout from Jess. She is my friend in my head, lol.
Running With Fireflies says
Happy Father’s Day!
Wow you do so many classes and they are so varied! It sounds like an excellent way to work all muscle groups.
Loved the memes!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I noticed that the variety of classes helps me to not get bored too easily as well.
Wendy says
Great week for you Kim and yay for your return to OTF!!! Dare I say that things are starting to feel more normal again?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Wendy! It felt good to be back at OTF after so many weeks away, but boy is my body feeling it right now after doing back to back classes – yikes!
Kimberly Hatting says
I have been meaning to ask how your father is doing…I’m sure this was an extra special Father’s Day for him (as well for you). Your Insta pic was so adorable 😉 Again, you astound me with the variety of your classes and the quantity. Way to go #KimTwin!!
kookyrunner says
He’s doing well! It was definitely an extra special Father’s Day and I gave him like 500 hugs lol.
Coco says
I’m sure it is an extra-special Father’s Day at your place, Kim. I’m so glad he’s doing better. You really were on fire this week with all those Peloton workouts and going back to OTF! I need to check out the Big Freedia classes. As usual, I can’t keep up with the great content.
LOL at the wi-fi meme. I can’t even listen to the “radio” without it these days!
kookyrunner says
Yes, definitely an extra special Father’s Day and I’m just so so happy and grateful – I really can’t put it into words.
The Big Freedia run was better than the ride – you could tell Adrian was having a great time, lol.
Deborah Brooks says
The hip stretching before running helps me immensely as well. Hope your back is feeling better. So glad that your dad is doing better and that you got to spend father’s day with him. Have a great week!
kookyrunner says
My back was feeling better but I aggravated it a little in OTF on Saturday. I just need to be more careful when lifting heavy.
Darlene S. Cardillo says
So impressed with all your workouts. I feel like a slug. Glad OTF went well.
Yup on the back. I sit all day. I have remind myself to get up.
Love that ZOOM meme. So true.
kookyrunner says
Getting up throughout the day definitely helped with my back pain. Just another reminder of how bad lots of sitting really is for our bodies!
Marcia says
How nice to be able to give your dad a great big hug after all he’s been though! Great week of activity despite the bike glitch. That would be annoying. Love the memes as always!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia – it was a great weekend!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Very happy you had a happy father’s day with your Dad, Kim!
Sounds like a good week for you. Good job getting back to OTF.
That’s one of the things I like about my Garmin Vivoactive, and why I wear it 24/7 — it reminds me when I’ve been sitting too long (well, not while I’m sleeping, LOL!).
Modifying Yoga is not only permissible, it’s awesome. Good job, Kim!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome that your watch alerts you when you’ve been sitting to long – such a good reminder!
Thanks for the feedback about yoga. Sometimes I feel bad that I have to modify the moves.
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
You always make me miss having the Peloton subscription. I heard there were two new instructors and would love to see what they are all about. I also really wanted to take some of Matty’s Pride classes because I’m sure he would be faaabbbbuuuullooooousss! But I just don’t see where in my schedule I can fit it in with all this other training.
Glad you had a good Father’s day!
kookyrunner says
i really can’t say enough great things about Matty – he’s just always so much fun and so positive!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
It’s great to hear you’re back to taking classes at Orange Theory and that your first class back went well. You’re getting such well rounded workouts between OTF and Peloton!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I really like the mix of OTF and Peloton and I just have to be careful to make sure I don’t overdo it with the workouts.
