Happy Sunday! I have vacation days to use up at work so I took another staycation this week. It was great because I felt like I was able to catch up on a few things, run errands, etc. This was another good week of workouts. I feel like I’m back in a groove, finally. I’ll pretty much be on autopilot until I start training for another race starting next year. Here’s my week-in-review!
Monday 11/6
4 mile run. I find it super difficult to find motivation to workout on Mondays so I was happy with this run. The colorful socks helped too š
Tuesday 11/7
30 minute walk + 30 minute total body workout.
Wednesday 11/8
Boot Camp class (60 minutes).
Thursday 11/9
6 mile run. I was originally planning for 5 miles but my legs felt good so I added the extra mile.
Friday 11/10
Rest Day
Saturday 11/11
Body Works + Abs class (60 minutes). Holy cow this class completely kicked my butt.
Sunday 11/12
Colony Grill Hot Oil 5K. When a race provides pizza and beer at the finish, you can guarantee I’ll be there.
I was experiencing some knee pain so that’s why I opted to only run 3 days this week. I have been very lazy when it comes to doing my PT exercises, so I’m sure that may be causing some of the knee pain. I am going to be more diligent about doing these exercises from now on. I’m hoping to get my weekly mileage between 18-25 miles moving forward.
Earlier today I registered for The Great Turkey Escape 5K on Thanksgiving morning. I’m doing the race with my mom and a few friends so it should be fun! I’m hoping to also find a holiday run to do in December as well. I LOVE holiday themed runs!
Oh, and one more thing! Pro Compression opened up their 2018 ambassador applications a few days ago. I’ve been an ambassador for this company for years and I really cannot say enough good things about them and their products. If you wear their socks and want to spread the ProCo love, I encourage you to apply! If you have any questions, just let me know.
Iām linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap.

5 Travel Essentials for Racecations
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
It’s always smart to listen to your body! But isn’t it funny how you sometimes add miles when you’re not training for something — and when you are training, God forbid you take an extra step!
There was pizza at my race today, too. š
kookyrunner says
Haha exactly! That what I thought on my 6 mile run š
I think having pizza as a post-race food option is just the best!
Deborah Brooks says
Staycations are nice sometimes! Looks like you are getting your running mojo back too š
kookyrunner says
I really enjoy them š Yes! I’m happy that my running mojo is coming back, finally.
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says

No problem Becca!

Right?! My running coach got it for me a few weeks ago and it was the perfect shirt for the race š

A race ending with beer and pizza sounds perfect! Great job this week- hope you can get your knees feeling better!
kookyrunner says
It was the perfect way to end a race š
Coco says
Sounds like you spent your staycation wisely! I do love Procopmression and have a drawerful myself.
kookyrunner says
I tried! It was good to relax for a little bit.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
You are just too cute with that pizza shirt! Where did you get it?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Wendy! Actually my running coach got it for me – I think she got it from Amazon.
Jessie says
What a fun staycation! Thanks for the heads up about the Pro Compression ambassador program, I think I will apply. Love their stuff.
Post-race pizza…the best. Well, pizza any time is the best š We had it twice in NYC!
kookyrunner says
There’s nothing better than NYC pizza!
So happy that you’re going to apply this year!
Fairytales and fitness says
The turkey trot with your mom should be fun!
Looks like your staycation was very productive! I wish I could take a staycation for a week but I guess I’ll have to wait till Christmas break..womp womp!!!
kookyrunner says
Yes, I’m looking forward to it!
Sara says
Great job with your workouts this week! Races with good food and beer at the finish line are the best! Glad to hear that you enjoyed your staycation!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Sara! I love races that offer great post-race food.
HoHo Runs says
I definitely think cute socks help with a run! I love that pizza shirt you are wearing at your race. Heck yeah, I’d sign up for that too! I wish we had a turkey trot on the actual day. That would be fun! Thanks for linking.
kookyrunner says
I like doing a turkey trot on Thanksgiving because I feel like I burn off some calories that I’ll be eating later on in the day, lol.
Teresa says
That Body Works + Abs class sounds like a tough one ….anytime I do an Abs class, I can’t laugh or cough for days without hurting! š
kookyrunner says
I currently can’t extend my arms all the way out, or laugh, so it was a successful class haha
Steff says
I need that Pizza shirt in my life!
kookyrunner says
I’m now on the hunt for pizza leggings to complete my outfit, lol
Rachel says
Sounds like a fantastic Staycation to me! I love that shirt.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Rachel!
Kim Hatting says
Pizza post-race sounds great! As long as it’s a short race (10K or less), I’m game š
kookyrunner says
I would totally be game for pizza after a marathon lol
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
Your 5k outfit is slick! I hope your PT exercises help your knee. Staycations are the best!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Megan! I love cute shirts that express my love of pizza LOL
Clarinda says
Isn’t it the best when you’re feeling so good you add an extra mile?! Love those runs! I find they are harder to come by during a training cycle, though. Love the “Run Now, Pizza Later” shirt. š
kookyrunner says
Totally, although that rarely happens lol.
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
I love staycations! They’re so refreshing, but they always go by too quickly!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree! I feel like the week just flew by
Sonia says
I love staycations! š Sorry about your knee pain–I hope that you’re feeling better soon!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Sonia. My knees are starting to feel better so I’m off to a good start this week!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
You certainly had a very active staycation. I’d love to be able to cash in on some leave and find more time to be more active.
kookyrunner says
The sad part is that I have another 5 days I have to use up before the end of the year – I’ll probably do some long weekends. I need to get better about taking time off lol
Mary says
Oh, knee pain, I can relate. Be careful, do those exercises and don’t up your mileage or do any heavy work like squatting or hopping until it gets better. I know how it is keeping up on all those dull clamshells etc., believe me. I’m just getting back onto my knee rehab program after some months off myself.
kookyrunner says
Definitely! I’m back to doing my PT exercises now and hoping that will help
Toni says
Sorry about your knee, but it looks like a great week anyhow. And yes to the pizza and beer after a race.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Toni! You’re right..can’t go wrong with pizza and beer after a race!
Marcia says
Aaaah! A staycation sounds nice about now. I still haven’t signed up for any turkey trot action.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia – it was a good week!
Sharon says
Nice week! A 5k with beer and pizza sounds great! Last week was my first race with pizza at the end and it was really good after a 20 mile race! š I hope your knee feels better!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Sharon!
